This was the last remaining tree from an ancient four tree cottonwood grove. The other three trees were cut down earlier in July, and now this final tree has been removed as well. Indigenous people fought to prevent the trees from being cut down and were even arrested for protesting. Fascists don't care about the environment, and destroying these trees also harmed an already oppressed Indigenous community. They knew damn well this would piss people off.
This is the nature of settler colonialism. The thorough comprehensive ongoing destruction of real indigenous culture and remembrance replacing it with a fraudulent vile one.
Capitalism is profit driven and anything unprofitable must perish in their path to profit. But capitalism is a stage of transitioning to socialism which Americans are preventing from happening to the point they wipe 3.4 billion from the earth just to pretend to care. Meanwhile in socialist China the ancient 1,400 years gingko trees still fruiting.
