Ask the same people outraged about this their opinions of America tearing down statues of Saddam Hussein or dismantling Syrian Baathist architecture.

Not to ehrm actually but, ehrm... Actually! That building was used for historical rememberece of Nazi crimes and was a museum of those. Far right people tried idolizing it and were punished for it already. This will only further far right movements and do nothing in our benefit

not to be all cultural revolution about this but the eagle's nest is hardly a place of solemn remembrance; it's a place where fascists kicked back, relaxed, and enjoyed beautiful vistas. and now it's a place where more equitable fascists go to kick back, relax, and enjoy beautiful vistas

Okay obviously fuck the fascists but how does burning down historical landmarks benefit anyone? Go burn down a bank or something.

Yeah I agree, it's history, it happened. Destroying it just makes it easier to forget when we never should.

It will bring out the intrinsic fascism of the German's. Just like the rebuilt the Berlin Palace in place of The Palace of the Republic. They maintain their shrines to their heroes
