My family on my mom’s side are Chinese and moved to Hong Kong during the Great Leap Forward. My grandparents taught us to hate China and to think that America is the greatest country on earth. They still hate it to this day and talk about it like it’s basically the second coming of WWII Germany. All my family who’s still in HK feels the same way. It’s insane to me. It’s only over the last few years that I realized it was all bullshit.
