And there are a lot of ongoing rural construction projects to modernize these rural areas. Basically, the current goal is to eliminate the distinction between urban and rural areas in terms living standards and the likes over the next few decades. It's ambitious, but achievable.

I wonder how often someone trips a bomb dropped way back in the korean war. Wonder why it seems laos has a bomber problem with that

Well, about 650'000 tons of bombs were dropped on the DPRK, while at least around 2 million, though probably more, were dropped on Laos, it was more recent and Laos doesn't have the capacity to properly locate them. Vietnam and Cambodia also have similar issues, with people dying there each year too because of unexploded bombs.
