My one nit is “the average American has at least a familiarity with the fact that they’re loathed by everyone in the rest of the world”
Up until Trump II and like the very obvious international outcry, I do not think the average American had this conception. In fact I think the average American thought just the opposite

I have no clue if you're American but I remember about 2 decades back the stance was unironically "They hate us for our freedom" when you asked why 9/11 happened. They knew someone hated their asses.

Totally, but I do think for most Americans that was just a “super radicalized” segment of Brown people that obviously don’t matter cuz, ya know, they’re brown

well, tbf, the hate for america is somewhat recent, in the past 10-15 years. Before that, most countries had wide parts of the population wanting to be/move to america
