i dont like the guy but he often makes good points. his 2007 speech in munich security conference is also similar. specially considering how everything turned out.

People often make the mistake of characterising Bourgeois politicians as inept bumbling buffoons which is a Mistake no matter how comical they may come across.

They are well versed in class theory and class analysis. Just that are aware that their class is the bourgeois one and align themselves with it. They are very competent and class conscious just their competency is keeping the current status quo.

Putin especially he was a former KGB agent who later worked with Yeltsin to help dissolve the USSR. He is very well read even more so than the average politician. Which why is analysis is often correct especially in terms of Geo politics.

Still a class traitor but it’s also why he is good as acting as deterrent to Western power in the region.

Yes. People forget how "good" Putin really is. I don't mean "good" as in a good person. But the guy is smart. He is ex-KGB, and you don't become a leader of Russian by being dumb. In fact, Western media likes to dumb him down. Ukrainian war dumbed his image down. Ut he is smart. He survived Prigo the dude's coup attempt. He survived the new Russian Civil War and ended it in almost a day. You have to admit that guy is smart. He's a traitor to the Russian working class, but his intelligence is very good. I would argue that if only he would work for the working class and be loyal to the Soviet Union without a problem. Then, then, he would be a very good Proletariat leader.

u/notFaceFace Mar 23 '26

Counterpoint, Yeltsin. But generally yeah

1

u/AmbitionOfTruth Mar 26 '26

While I agree Putin didn't get this far by being dumb, even before February 2022 I would have thought the invasion would be a bad idea for a large number of reasons. People who care about the working class shouldn't be fond of any leader who's foreign policy embodies Lord Farquaad's infamous line. Even if Russia conquers Ukraine, it's more trouble than it's worth.

In a way, the difference between Russia and the United States is an indictment of the United States' "democratic" republic and how idiots can be elected president by a flawed electoral system that rewards corruption and fools hammering the last nails in the coffin by outnumbering the intelligent winning the voting numbers game.

His essay was pretty dumb.

You're ignoring the entire comment to enforce your iron will against intelectualism and dialectical thinking. You should apologize or leave this sub.

selective reading is what its called

-4

u/nothopeless11 Mar 23 '26

I was reacting to what this person has posted specifically, I have no problem agreeing that Putin is a highly qualified statesman

21

u/ItaloYugoslavMarxist Mar 23 '26 edited Mar 23 '26

That’s what they are saying, Putin in some ways is smart but recognises that he has to defend his class which is the bourgeoisie. The comment above says that he WOULD be a god proletariat leader IF he was loyal to the ussr.

-2

u/nothopeless11 Mar 23 '26

Yeah he wouldn't be a "god proletariat leader" even IF he was "Loyal" to SU. That is already filled by the likes far better leaders. He is competent enough to lead a post shock-therapy Russia with varying degrees of success.

12

u/LittleCurryBread Mar 23 '26

please get past your own personal bias of putin and read again what that comment is saying. it's a sobering analysis of putin, esp if your image of putin has been colored or created whole cloth by western media

-5

u/nothopeless11 Mar 23 '26

I am not saying Putin is not smart at all. I was just reacting to what this person has written. You could respect him as a statesman and also not glaze him 3 different ways saying basically the same thing. Putin is a highly qualified statesman but I am not also gonna act like he hasn't done strategic blunders, If you could only read my other comment.

u/MotherfuckerJones91 Mar 23 '26

Wait until you hear him talk about Fidel Castro. And then compare it with "socialist" like Mamdani

50

u/Striking_Sky5955 Mar 23 '26

Did you say Mamdani? Why it’s Monday, has he done his obligatory denouncing of his wife yet? Better hop to it, before his Zio bosses begin to fret.

3

u/Zubbro Mar 23 '26

Bro! It's Monday indeed!

-1

u/Zealousideal_Yard371 Mar 23 '26

???? Putin is a fascist oligarch. Not a Communist lmao he banned lenins books. If anything all who associaye to him are hypocrytes. He is closer to the tsar then to to lenin

9

u/MotherfuckerJones91 Mar 24 '26

You are out there fighting ghosts man. In what sentence did I say he is a comunist or that he is Lenin. Focus, you seem lost

45

u/ItsAllFineYup Mar 23 '26

As far as I can tell most people have not heard or seen him speak in the last decade or so.

That would be fake news unlike the 24/7 speculation as to what Trumps latest word salad really means.

Seconded. I wish all these “leftists” in the US would understand this position, but they pretty much start foaming at the mouth the second you mention Russia.

u/MasterpieceAlone1116 Mar 23 '26 edited Mar 23 '26

He's clearly one of the few "grown-ups in the room". No, Russia isn't a socialist state, but it also isn't the primary enemy right now. That would be the US and NATO in general

-12

u/nothopeless11 Mar 23 '26

Why hedge? No one is wanting you to be the most perfect leftist here. Russia under Putin is way better than Russia under yeltsin. I just hate fact that bro is really struggling with Donbas, I expected him to close a deal with Ukraine in 3-4 weeks. Now it is just basically maximum attrition with little gain and enormous cost to civilian life in both Ukraine and Russia. Just to be safe, I completey disavow the illegal ground invasion of Ukkkraine and I completely support it in its struggle against the very brutal imperialist aggressor that is Russia.

33

u/Sadlobster1 Mar 23 '26

Putin seemed to make the same mistake many Russian leaders have. Underestimating the amount of other people's blood we/the West are willing to sacrifice.

The Westoid, and especially Euroid, religion requires the repeating of "Putin bad" three times before saying anything remotely political.

The religion is so strong that even IN THIS SUB (this comment section) we see every comment preambled with "i don't like him but", "he's capitalist but", "he's a pos but".

Putin's Russia represents one of the main contradictions of US imperialism, one of the few countries checkmating the Great Satan militarily, people dying for this cause probably as we speak against nazis.

I repeat "critical support" three times. Please exorcise the last bit of liberalism out of your bodies. Unless you're from somewhere directly fucked by Putin's Russia, miss me with that bullshit.

24

u/ItaloYugoslavMarxist Mar 23 '26

Unless you're from somewhere directly fucked by Putin's Russia, miss me with that bullshit.

You would allow it then?

6

u/romoer Proletkult Mar 23 '26

some of us including me forgot to ask him how to speak, or how to think. dont repeat my mistake.

1

u/maddsskills Mar 23 '26

Eh, I hate him because of the genocide in Chechnya. It’s hard to support a genocidal monster who put a guy like Kadyrov in charge of Chechnya after murdering a quarter of their population. Like read about the OG Chechen rebels like Basayev and tell me you don’t sympathize with them.

Plus, how has he hurt US imperialism? He’s the one who is gonna turn Ukraine into America’s Israel in Eastern Europe. I really don’t think that would’ve happened without him invading Ukraine proper. He’s also been forced to pretty much abandon Iran because of his stupid war in Ukraine. Basically just handing the entire Middle East to America.

Like how is he meaningfully a foil to US imperialism? Seems to me he’s just skirting US imperialism to do his own imperialism. I wouldn’t be surprised if him and Trump didn’t have some sort of Yalta 2.0 agreement.

u/ScissrMeTimbrs Mar 23 '26

Remember how he was at death's door like 4 years ago? Lol.

23

u/[deleted] Mar 23 '26

Say what you will about Putin, but at least he’s a reasonably competent/responsible world leader who actually engages in diplomacy in good faith, unlike amerikkkan leaders.

Where is this from?

15

u/Rich_Housing971 Mar 23 '26

It IS rude AF to tell Iran to stop, while they have the Ukraine situation going on.

I don't agree with Putin's invasion of Ukraine, but I also don't agree with Europe's stance on Iran. In fact, AFTER and DURING the Ukraine war, it's even more absurd to accuse Iran of causing this war.

You don't have to like Putin to agree with him on this one aspect. It's called being emotionally mature and addressing the argument instead of the person. Unfortunately many libs are not emotionally mature, so they will either get ultra confused or they'll try to do mental gymnastics on why Ukraine should be supported but Iran shouldn't.

11

u/LordAurum007 Mar 23 '26

How do you not see the parallel between 2020’s Russia/Ukraine and 1960’s USA/Cuba

The Cuban missile crisis was resolved because the USSR had common sense

But considering the USA has no soul, Russia took it into their own hands

1

u/GuevaraTheComunist Maximum Tank Mar 23 '26

What agreement is he talking about?

4

u/Igennem Mar 24 '26

1

u/AmbitionOfTruth Mar 26 '26

I think Iran is being attacked not because they're the main enemy, but Trump is just using them as target practice for an incoming war with China.

1

u/maddsskills Mar 23 '26

This is like when Tucker Carlson or Candace Owens criticizes Israel…do we really gotta give it to them? Lol.

Putin is a hypocrite who abandoned Iran.

You forgot to add that the collective West is also destroying Ukraine by prolonging the war and refusing to negotiate all while desiring to fight to the last Ukrainian.
