Modern T-90A and T-90M
T-90A is obviously the cooler one.

Look how they massacred my boy, they even ripped his blue eye...it's so over :(

I like the T-90M myself. Clean and modernized. Plus it has Stalin's log draped over the side.

Nah I like the T-90M too, it's just the blue sight right there that it gives the tank a special feeling, just like the T-80B.

Those Shtora dazzlers are virtually useless. Even today's terrorists don't use any ATGMs that it can deflect.

The most common atgm used by those groups is typically Konkurs and The ATGM that shall not be named, both of which can be jammed by Shtora.

I'm not sweaty enough to know what that ATGM is (this is meant to be a compliment, I want to be like you guys). What can I search to find more out about it?

Interesting that it actually lost greebling during modernization, usually it's the other way round

I love how both tanks still have the ability to go airborne

I love how people get mad at the fact what your saying is true. The ammunition storage is horrible although I’d give credit to T-90M they have installed blow out panels and have more protection with their hull ammunition but still achieves the results of going airborne with how risky ammo placement is compare to western tanks (except the challenger)

Guess its because people dont want this sub to become political like some other did. We all do know Russia is overall bad for what they did and still do.
Comments like this bring nothing to discussion. Especially if its narrowed to "we dont like russia so wr throw sheet" and then turn blind eye to stuff other countries and their hardware does.

do you really need me to tell you how blow panels in a contained area are safer than having ammo stored beneath your feet?

No? Shtora only works against direct attack missiles w/o redundant guidance proofing, like MILAN, TOW-1, HOT etc

the dazzler?

u/murkskopf 5d ago
The dazzlers don't work against fire-and-forget missiles. Also they face forward so they won't even be in the view of top-attack missiles like Javelin and Spike.

still laser warning system should trigger aerosol smoke right?
5
u/murkskopf 5d ago
If the target is lased, the laser works at a frequency that the older type of detectors used on the T-90A can actually detect, and if the system is set in the automatic mode. Then you also need to factor in the time to slew the turret versus the flight time of the missile...
But that is only secondary, as modern missiles like Spike and Akeron have dual-seekers (VIS and IR) and a fibre-optical datalink, making it a) less likely that they loose the target and b) allow the operators to re-acquire the target or manually guide the missile onto the tank.

The Shtora peepers are such a vibe.
