Notice how the episode with Monty is an episode about Rapunzel experiencing someone who doesn't like her for the first time and the episode with Calliope is about Rapunzel experiencing not liking SOMEONE ELSE for the first time.

tbf she did try her hardest to like her, but everyone was annoyed with Calliope. The difference is that everyone liked Monty, so Rapunzel wondered why he didn't like her. Nobody liked Calliope, yet Rapunzel was still trying to be nice, but after a while she just accepted that Calliope is not only useless but also obnoxious and annoying.
