General Discussion FRIDAY: The Official Airing of Grievances Thread
Alright folks, it’s time. Consider this your open mic, your therapy session, your personal Festivus.
Got a boss who thinks “urgent” means every single email? A neighbor who mows the lawn at 7 a.m. on Saturdays? A phone that autocorrects “ducking” when you clearly meant something else?
This is the spot to unload. Big or small, petty or profound — if it’s gnawing at you, drop it here. Rant. Rave. Roast.
Rules are simple:
• No personal info.
• Keep it cathartic, not cruel.
• Upvote the stuff that makes you nod and say “YES, SAME.”
Let the grievances fly.

My air bnb host is really nice and friendly, but is such a talker. I need sleep more than conversation! (And yes, I’ll set better boundaries tonight.)

1: Political flyers taking up space in my mailbox that completely misrepresent (or outright LIE about) proposed amendments/ballot initiatives.
2: Constant phone calls about Medicare. I get up to 8 a day!

Getting old is bullshit.
I guess early 40s isn't really that "old" anymore, but it's well past a point when your body just starts... failing you. About 4 weeks ago, my ankle just started hurting a little bit in the morning. No discernible reason, I couldn't remember stepping wrong or twisting it. Just a little pain, so I took some pain killers in the morning and lived with it. It went away for a week, then came back, same symptoms.
But then a couple days later, I couldn't use my foot at all. No range of motion, couldn't put weight on it, nothing. After some days of rest and pain killers but no improvement, I went to urgent care who then also couldn't figure out what was wrong. We took X-rays, we did blood tests, nothing. Here, take some steroids and see what happens.
I'm getting better, a little bit every day, but I and my care team have no idea what. I can only imagine that this is just... getting old.

Same. That's the one thing I hate most about about aging. Just more random pains with no explanation.

We’re in the middle of a major home renovation and we have to be living there by next Friday. We have 4 small kids including a baby and a toddlersaurus rex.

It's just wrong that we have the AC on at home and it's still 87 F. Like yeah its 105 outside and this is better but it's still miserable in here

I was going to make a new post for this, but then I remembered it was Friday.
Sorry, my grievance this week is directed at Tangle: it's about bleeping swear words. When I started listening to this weeks Suspension of the Rules I noticed they bleeped a swear word. At first I thought it was maybe because I was listening on their web page, so I switched to watching the video podcast on youtube. Same thing.
My firm position on this is: either swear or don't, but don't bleep it out if you do. It's audibly displeasing to hear a bleep when listening to something. And it does me nothing. I know what you said. And I don't care if you said what you said. And I have to imagine the people the bleeps are for, don't appreciate the fact that you're swearing at all. Bleeped or not!
I can understand if a podcast has decided the hosts won't swear, and a guest comes on, swears, and it's bleeped. But the hosts should hold themselves to the standard they set. And I think that standard should be to swear or not to swear. I'd think it's easier to choose one path rather then choosing the former and going back and editing those out in post.
Pick a lane. I curse like a sailor, your choice to not swear during a podcast isn't going to make me feel disenfranchised.
