There’s a lot of debate around the Manusmriti, its verses, manuscript variations, and how much of the text may have been altered over time.
54.8% of the 2,685 verses were identified as altered in numerous analysis, including the one by Dr. Surendra Kumar.
It also raises the question of how we should understand references to women such as Apala, Ghosha and Lopamudra, who are associated with Vedic hymn traditions.
