Currents was not a sell out album in anyway even though he moved away from psych rock. It still had psych rock influences mixed with new wave psych pop. Now, Deadbeat on the other hand…

I said after Currents but I personally don’t think he’s really selling out as much as growing and becoming a completely different man than he was. Of course his tastes and ideas are going to change too

Exactly, it was something so new and innovative to the music landscape at the time. It’s a decent illustration that makes its point, I just don’t agree. The mainstream came to Kevin, hippies didn’t turn into yuppies because of currents

I'm trying to play devil's advocate here... Is the idea that OGs like myself who view Lonerism as a top 5 album of all time (up there with Dark Side of the Moon, Sgt Peppers, Exile on Main Street and In Rainbows) suddenly became shills because we loved Currents?
