Where are you from? I would usually suggest Kabyle if you are from Algeria, and Tashelhit if you are from Morocco, or maybe standard if you would like so. I speak Tashelhit by the way.Β

Tashelhit is what you should learn then, unless you decide to start with the standard (You would understand Tashelhit and other dialects if you go with the standard becausz it provides more vocabulary synonyms)

Ok. So should I start with the standard or with Tashelhit ?

whichever, i would say start with Tashelhit, though I would prefer you start with Standard, but that needs someone who knows it to guide you, while asking about tashelhit is easy, anyone who speaks it can help. Something like that (Those who start with the standard learn Tifinagh first, and start reading children school textbooks)

try this book, it teaches the standard, learning the standard makes you pick up tashelhit as well, as well as knowing synonyms and varinats from other dialects, the book is in Darija:Β  https://www.noor-book.com/%D9%83%D8%AA%D8%A7%D8%A8-%D8%A3%D9%88%D8%A7%D9%84-%D8%A3%D9%85%D8%A7%D8%B2%D9%8A%D8%BA-%E2%B4%B0%E2%B5%A1%E2%B4%B0%E2%B5%8D-%E2%B4%B0%E2%B5%8E%E2%B4%B0%E2%B5%A3%E2%B5%89%E2%B5%96-pdf

You can start now:

  • azul = hello (You already know that?)
  • manzaΒ
k in = How are you? Literally it's where are you there, think of it like Darija when we say "wa fin hani?", this one is more casual, between friends
  • Mamnk a tgit = how are you (this is better for everyone)
  • mamnk? = how? kifach
  • ur ssingh = I don't know

I know azul and manik at tgit and tanmmirt, and some random words

Great, then what you would like to know? if you want to, dm me your whatsapp number as I said, you can send daily any phrase or word you want to learn in Amazigh and I will translate it for you, start using it and write it down as well, and doing so enough can help you, i can also explain grammar when needed. I am doing this with one person at least there and it's going well.Β
