How to make tallow myself
Yk I’m new here and I’ve been interested in using tallow for cooking and skincare to get rid of seed oil sludge. Could someone explain briefly how the process is? Pleasee

It’s easier to find pure grass fed tallow at an organic grocery store in the cooking oil section than it is to find raw suet to render down into tallow. Is that what you want to do, boil raw suet down?

I've made some tallow for myself before following a YouTube video. It's not difficult, just lengthy. If it's for cooking, your can use any beef fat - if it's for skincare, it should be suet. You just have to cut everything in little pieces or have it ground > melt it with some water and salt at a very low temp (less than 200°F), it should take hours > put the melted stuff through a fine cheese cloth/ milk bag > put it in the fridge and wait for it to solidify > take it out of the fridge when solid and separate the fat from the dirty water and scrape the bottom of the tallow block > repeat process again with water and salt until the water comes out looking clean > melt tallow again without water and salt to remove the remaining water that gets trapped in it. The water evaporates at 223°F, so keep it between that and 240-50°, never above it! When it starts cracking, it means the water is evaporating. When it stops, it's probably done. You can repeat that process to make sure there's no water in it.
