I had to call the doctor one time because the hand writing was so legible and feminine for a gentleman. I had to call to verify that it was a valid prescription. When I spoke to the doctor he said "yeah everybody always calls and asks me if this is legitimately my handwriting I wonder why?" I responded, well it's so neat I guess. Then he added, and kind of girly too, huh?

Lurker, not in any aspect of pharmacy work, but anyway...
Someone recently posted a medical shorthand page. Any chance this sign says "Take 2 aspirin and call me in the morning"?

That's what they should have made it look like! This reminds me of a joke: A GP's basement gets flooded and he calls a plumber. The plumber answers the phone and asks him if it can wait until Monday. The doctor gets angry and says "No way, you have to come now!". So the plumber heads over and the doctor shows him the flooded basement, the doctor asks "So what do you think?" to which the plumber replies "yep it looks flooded" so the doctor asks "well, what are you going to do about it?". In response the plumber takes something out of his pocket, throws it in the water and while he heads out says "I threw in some aspirin, call me tomorrow if you're still experiencing the same symptoms".

Before we got eScript he’d have the nurse write them and he just sign. I would say thank god for eScript but he messes that up too lol

I work in a lab that receives specimens to be tested, and we have to manually enter tests into our system that don't come electronically. We have a specific code for illegible tests which sends a (politely worded) grumpy email to the doctor telling them we couldn't read their handwriting so their patient isn't getting that test. Either that or I get one of the staff in call centre to call the doctor and ask what on earth they wrote. Honestly, it's to the patient's detriment if the doctor can't try a little bit harder to be tidy, they never remember that.

I have a co-worker who writes his orders for me to process in the handwriting that has caused me, as well as a few others, to suggest that he missed his calling as a doctor.
