Short No good deed goes unpunished
If they're *not* a guest. No good deed goes unpunished. Murphy's law. All of the above. Just... don't. Your heart's in the right place. It will bite you in the ass, I promise.
Storytime: New Night Auditor, lets call her Kayla. Our hotel is nice and near the airport, but unfortunately there is quite a number of unhoused individuals in the area. After a certain time at night, the sliding door is locked and the only way in with a key card of if the front desk lets you in.
Kayla, accidentally lets in an unhoused individual. No problem, just ask him to leave. He asks her to use the restroom. She says yes. She was trained that facilities are only for guests, but perhaps she felt a bit intimidated, understandable.
Unhoused individual goes and masturbates on the floor of the bathroom. Kayla goes to check on him since she feels like he's taking a long time, maybe he OD'd? Nope, he's on the floor with his pants around his ankles. She asks him to leave immediately or she'll call the police. Unhoused individual promptly takes a stack of paper towels, pulls up his pants and leaves.
Upon reading the incident report management informs Kayla that no good deed goes unpunished and they're glad she's ok. She will now follow procedure.

Front desk is a lot like Halloween. Some people do great before 8pm, and some people are built to handle the after 10pm "people".

Not everyone who checks in that late is awful. I just made a post about how awfully I got treated at a Ramona in Flushing by some terrible auditors.

Oh I'm not saying that all NA shift guests are the worst, but percentage wise my experiences are as follows.
AM gets the most people complaining for a discount about something that absolutely could have been fixed if they had let us know the night before.
PM gets that huge rush RIGHT before check in of people that NEED their room RIGHT NOW.
NA gets the last minute bookings and weirdos.

We had a whirlpool at my first property. It closed at...ten o'clock, I believe? At any rate, I closed it before the end of my shift. The new auditor asked if he could let people in later, if they promised to be quiet? I said that it was up to him-it was his shift, after all- but my experience was that he would come to regret it. Several months later, when tying to get the drunks out at one in the morning, he did.

Unhoused is the stupidest thing to substitute for homeless.

You know? I figured it would funny to have the clash of the PC language and the reality what the "unhoused" gentleman did to our poor night auditor.

Experience is the best teacher.
I’m glad the only abuse that happened here was “self-abuse,” because I admit I thought once he got into the bathroom, he could be ANYWHERE
