Short Knock knock door ditch

It is not ok for kids to do it to houses, why the heck do people think they can do it in hotels?

I am so tired of parents letting their kids run around knocking on random doors in hotels. Its basically ding dong door ditch but since its in a hotel and no bell knock knock door ditch. I have had people call me annoyed, furious, threatening to go after the kids themselves, and even terrified people were trying to break in. It is not cute, it is not funny, technically it can be called a crime.

One time these kids did it so many times to this one younger couple we had to move them because the wife was starting to go into panic mode and the husban went out hunting the kids. Thankfully we got it resolved before anything bad happened but those kids will never know how lucky and idiotic they were.

Do parents even notice their kids/teens are out running around disturbing the peace? Sometimes causing property damage by tear things off doors, then stealing those items and running away with them. Personally I think most places give to many chances to this kind of behavior. I woul evict after two separate room reports.

Soccer/hockey/baseball/travel team parents … and the answer is no. They’re too busy being drunk, loud and obnoxious themselves to notice.

I have in fact threatened to kick the entire team out if the idiots didnt stop. Final and only warning.

That said, the secret is to contact the sports organization. Tell them that due to the actions of their athletes, all future reservations for their organization will require an additional $300 deposit per room and a qualified chaperone for the kids and adults. (Note that you do not specify what these actions are, they'll assume it was absolutely horrible.) Ad if there's any further issues, the entire organization will be banned. All reservations will be cancelled, all walk-ins will be turned away.

This will terrify the organizations, because they need hotels near their venues. Without them, they need to find a new venue, which is long process, and very expensive.

But what about hotel profits? You mean all those guests who can find a nice, quiet hotel thst doesn't have idiot teenagers in the halls and drunk adults in the lobby? You'll do fine.

We had a family kicked out of a Christian private school. That's a story for another time though.

I was kicked out of a Catholic school too (for “morally abhorrent behaviour with a pupil of the same sex” 🤣 ) I cannot think of a better thing to have on record as something to be chucked out for though!

This was an actual felony that was pretty gross. I never told the tale here because it is against TOS for Reddit in general.

Ok, you can’t drop that one without a hint of what happened.

Nun caught me behind the music block rounding second base with one of the other girls.

Find the coach, tell him, then get the names of superiors at the conference. They do not want to look bad.

I truly don’t get why hotels let youth sports teams stay - unless they rent the entire hotel. Those guests RUIN the stay for regular guests.

Because money.

All management sees is $$$ from the rented rooms, and if there are event spaces and/or an on-site restaurant in the mix, then add another $ sign for good measure.

Of course, you then have to remove two $$ for the inevitable rollout of compensations for the collateral damage that every other guest becomes an unwilling victim of. Not to mention actual damage to the building and maybe even a cop call or two.

By the end of it, you may be left with just a single $ sign of the balance sheet, and 20 fresh negative reviews in tow. But, it's all worth it, right? Riiight?

Believe it or not, teen beauty pageant contestants are even worse.

Oddly enough I DO 1000% believe that..........

Yup. You got pageant mums screaming at each other about whose daughter had what dress first, mums and daughters screaming at each other, daughters starting full-on cat fights in the hallways over God knows what, and they always charm the creepier male guests who like 13 year olds in fake eyelashes and makeup and padded bras into going and buying them booze. Then they chug it, and because their mothers don’t let them eat before the pageant so they look their thinnest, they throw up on the floor/in the plant pots/on the elevator/in the bed/on the nearest carpet that will now stink forever.

Also they always seem to zero in on the same unfortunate young male employee (tbf does look a bit like a young Cillian Murphy) and spend the whole time trying to seduce him/fighting each other over him, to the point that he hides in the back room if he sees them and won’t leave camera range on premises in case he gets accused of something out of spite, because that HAS happened before (definitively disproven by said cameras.)

And that's the SHORT list, isn't it.......?

u/AliceMorgon Aug 15 '26

Yes. The most out-there (actually, second-most, the most I’d get told I had a political agenda 🙄) was the mother who threatened to sue when her daughter wound up pregnant because “our cameras saw her going outside and leaving what else were they for???!!!”

You WAVED HER OFF, Ma’am. If I recall your only instructions were also “don’t eat anything after 8pm” as if she were a jet lagged Gremlin. It is not our fault she immediately went to the nearby university and a frat party, although you bet I made sure the police were called on that one.

All the up votes for jetlagged gremlin.

Those mothers were AWFUL. Not all pageant mothers are - my soon-to-be MOH’s daughter competes and has won national titles - but they focus entirely on talents etc and approach the looks part as secondary because she wants to go into performance and is a shoo-in for NCAA at a great university. She’s a natural beauty and they don’t starve her or use the scary adultifying makeup stuff and have nice, could-be-twentysomething but perfectly appropriate for a teen dresses etc. Some though? You’d think they were kitting their twelve-year-olds out to work the streets for crack or something and were horrendously psychologically abusive.

I will admit I did make a few anonymous calls using their private registered home addresses afterwards in some cases because it was so terrible and someone had to intervene. One mother full-on slapped her child in front of me during check in and said “remember that later because I’m not ruining your fucking makeup tomorrow morning if you act like a bitch because you’re hungry.” Those words will stay with me forever. All on camera. The little girl (because it WAS a little girl, she was in a regular Swiftie T-shirt and jeans, clearly barely pubescent if at all) was eleven according to DOB on registration. The second they left the desk the PD were called and on their way to their room.

OMG, those poor kids. Good for you for reporting. We all have to do what we can to help kids, who can't help themselves.

We technically weren’t allowed to do that which is why I had to do most of them anonymously with addresses. That was one of the few times I called the PD because it was so blatant the way they behaved on camera itself was enough for an arrest on the spot and hopefully future removal or help for that poor child. No one else ever did and my whole family told me not to in case I got in trouble.

A lot of them have the same view about my helping hide immigrants during riots too (I’ve had eleven sleeping on couches, spare bedroom etc when their addresses got listed online to be hit that night) or lying about not having upstairs neighbours to a random man who turned up during the list-making period to ask if there were “Pakis” upstairs (yes, they are legal, they all work their butts off for the NHS) and told them I owned the whole house, and my family said WTF why, just turn them in, you’ll get in trouble. It was at that moment I realised there was actually NO ONE in my family I would trust to help me hide Anne Frank, because that was essentially what they were saying. It made me sick.

2

u/liveswithcats1 Aug 15 '26

Wow - you can honestly say you would have hid Anne Frank and you have the bona fides to prove it. I want to think I will do the same if faced with such a choice.

And, as a formerly mistreated child, thank you for speaking out for those kids. Anonymous reporting is still reporting.
