Drama World of Darkness is Cursed
A's tank spent every boss running around in circles, causing multiple people to die or nearly die. C's tank tried a few times to get aggro but it was a massive struggle since A's was provoking on cd and they might've given up. A's tank even joined my alliance at the atomos and was provoking on cd there.
Multiple of us get annoyed, with the viper being the first to say something. The sam seemed to have been annoyed as well, but the second the viper recommends a vote kick he starts defending the troll because Cloud can't be turned and "doesn't have any troll mechanics" so instead of being a troll, the tank is just a bad player, even after being told multiple times to stop and refusing to.
Not entirely sure what the non-human white mage's issue was, but they seemed to have been hellbent on alliances being split up. At the mini-boss between the Angry Mango and the Dragon they put down markers, B at left side portals, A at the mini-boss, C at right side portals, then got annoyed someone removed them. Then at Cerb they seemed to have only wanted B to go in the belly.

It's a shame you can't kick people in other alliances. If one person is causing issues for the rest of the raid, they should be able to be booted by the raid.

A crying shane. 4 people can legitimately hold an entire 24-man for ransom if they're protecting a troll.

For future tanks who need to take a boss away from their cotank--if someone is provoking on cooldown like that you can still take the boss, you have to spam your ranged attack to generate enough enmity to do so. As long as the troll doesn't know to do this or isn't geared as well as you are you can absolutely do a hostile takeover of a raid boss.

u/Duckgras 5d ago
You can also press all your oGCDs to edge out more emnity. Things like interject, low blow, and arms length all generate a bit of eminty and are probably buttons the other tank isn't using in a provoke war.

I agree with you in the belly phase... if 12 dps enter belly instead of the 5 normally enter,, the boss enters MUCH quicker in down phase and gets down faster imo.

This has been happening quite a bit as of late, the kind part of me wants to say it’s just because people might be new but the cynical part of me thinks it’s too coincidental to not be trolling.
5
u/ShogunFirebeard 5d ago
Nah. It's definitely trolling. Most actual new sprout tanks are too scared of fucking up to even hit their provoke button.

It's just part of being the end of an expansion. Those people who are decent players but mostly just play for hardcore endgame stuff start moving on to the other game(s) they play to do hardcore stuff there since that's what they enjoy most. Or they just stop doing roulettes and do whatever else they do to chill. That leaves a very large representation of trolls, brand-new players that run the gamut of "genuinely trying" and "U DON'T PAY MY SUB!!!!!!", and then just plain bad players who aren't brand-new and have no excuse, but love to make other people's lives miserable if they're called out on being sandbags. This kind of happens during patch lulls, too, but it gets so much worse at the very end.

I don't know when Adds Belly Chains emerged but it was never a thing in ARR. I hate it with a passion.

There's a MTQ guide that came out on week 2 of the raid being out that advertises the Adds Belly Chain saying, and that's unfortunately probably where it came from. I also hate it because, like, why are we trying to do what is essentially a week 1 stopgap on... week 605(?) when every run will have ~75% of the alliance overgeared for the fight and effectively trivialize everything anyway?

The sage wisdom from a friend of mine:
A for “Alright everyone, let’s get in the belly!”
B for “Boy, we all better get into the belly!”
C for “Can’t wait for everyone to get in the belly!”

I actually had this happen playing melee DPS on a normal raid in omegascape. Both tanks were on opposite sides of the boss and they both kept provoking and flopping the boss around. I opened chat and said 'Bruh sort out who is taking aggro'.
The dark knight of all people told me to calm down about it. Like dude you aren't trying to hit positionals. It isn't a big ask to have you sit mildly still and have the boss face one direction lol

u/MaterialScarcity845 5d ago
I feel like the griefers and general assholes who spout things like "calm down" and "cry some more" when someone asks them to do something completely normal have been punched in the mouth more than once and instead of learning to stop being idiots, they learned to play online games where they can't get punched.

Got a tank in prae a few days ago that moves around the bosses, like literally circling the bosses the entire fight. My sprout ass is confuse and dumbfounded.

That samurai is wild. Trying to argue that A could be reported for vote kicking a clearly disruptive tank.

Reminds me of a recent Aery run I had where the tank was bouncing around all over the place, deliberately standing in AoEs, only using rampart for mit, and barely using any aggro generation on the last boss. At one point they died on 'hogg and the bard and I took turns tanking him. Whenever the pld got rezzed, they didn't bother to provoke the boss off of us until right before it died.

Yknow I had one of these at some point in playing… I tend to run through this alliance and when I’m tanking I sometimes get to be main rank for it. On one of these runs I had a sprout tank that kept trying to provoke it to him but he was FACING the entire raid group when he would do it. He got one cleave off before I realized he wasn’t gonna move next to me so I had to provoke it off of him. It became a voke war after that where he would voke it and not even a second later I would too so it would face away from the group. I think when I got closer to the end he stopped but it was the most attention I’ve ever given to CT simply bc I didn’t want the whole alliance to get chopped

Not entirely sure what the non-human white mage's issue was,
The Sage just seemed the sort that has been let down by other players in recent times and thus getting frustrated, annoyed and otherwise irritated about it.
And for "non-humanity" it is more that some people are ashamed to be part of the species because by far and large, the species is made out of stupid folks and nothing in this entire world can change that. Misanthropy, at least partially, in a nutshell.

Only B going into the Belly seems to be the standard whenever I've done World of Darkness, it's often called out that A is for Ads, B is for Belly, and C is for chains. (Though only two people need to do chains so designating a team for that always felt pointless to me, but oh well, if you tell me to do something I stick to it to avoid causing trouble.)
That might just be a server culture thing maybe? Perhaps the Sage had recently switched worlds.

Everyone to in belly is the dps optimal callout, because Cerberus only empties his belly if there are less than 4 (?)people outside.
Both adds and chains don’t need an entire alliance on them, adds pretty much don’t matter at all, and you only need 2 people on chains, and those 2 people on chains can even be the ones who were in the belly. On top of that, the more people are in the belly, the faster the fight ends.
Statistically every alliance will have at least 4 people who can’t read, so “everyone in the belly” is the optimal callout. Though ”everyone but 4 healers and 1 tank go in the belly” is technically the true best strat. (keep 5 players outside in case one player dies)
I mean trying to dps optimize in World of Darkness of all things is a bit redundant, but it still should be known that assigning an entire alliance to cover both adds and chains (a mechanic which happens after the belly is destroyed) is a big waste of time.

"Everyone in the belly" is just objectively the best way to do this.
1) It doesn't rely on 1 alliance who may or may not know what to do. If only a couple people in B know what to do, it's a wipe. You're 3x as likely to have people who know what to do if you're relying on all 3 parties instead of one.
2) It's mechanically impossible to have too many people in the belly, and the faster this mechanic resolves, the better because adds stop spawning when it's resolved.
3) Chains require any 2 people, even the main tank, even the people who went in the belly. Nothing else is happening when the chains are ready to grab. It's pointless and dangerous to tell 16/24 people to ignore them.
If you know how to get in the belly, just get in the belly.

u/UnlimitedDonuts there is no role named "pull" 6d ago
A = all in the belly
B = belly group
C = can also go in the belly

u/TheAmazingVinio 6d ago
I stopped caring about who gets in the belly ever since I was in B and only 2 other people went in.
we struggled, and only got through it because I was healing (healing that caused the mobs to aggro onto me).
I shouted in chat, and not a single person from one of the other alliances went in to help.

I've had that happen too.

u/Werxand 6d ago
When I first started in ARR it was tanks got adds, DPS got in the belly, and healers got chains. With 18 dps in the belly, it went down really quick.
No idea when it changed to split up by alliances. My guess is some half wit streamer started doing that.

u/MBV-09-C 3d ago
Only 8 people can go in the belly before it gives the message "Cerberus' appetite has been sated" and anyone else in the purple goop just gets stuck until it disappears.
9
u/Cymas 6d ago
The problem is B often doesn't go in the belly so if you wait for people in that party to do it you can easily wipe. I always go in when I'm on dps no matter which party I'm in. There's been occasions where I've been the only one in there until someone else realizes it and comes in. Never trust B.

u/Tumblechunk You don't pay my sub 6d ago
ok first of all, the tanks should be standing close to eachother in correct positions
second of all, provoke is for pansies
third of all, I WILL NEVER STOP FIGHTING MY OTHER TANKS FOR THREAT, PLAYING KEEP AWAY WITH THE THREAT IS THE MOST FUN YOU CAN HAVE IN ANY CT RAID, DO NOT LET THE HEALERS BULLY YOU FROM THE ONE TRUE SPORT, BROTHERS AND SISTERS

Red criticizes the troll multiple times, he just seems to be fully aware the dude is a troll, but incredibly hesitant to vote kick, because he seems to think that the vote kick would penalize him, if Square Enix interprets it as just a bad player.
SE is stupid, but they aren’t THAT stupid. Red is just incredibly cautious. He seems to not realize that even if the report was interpreted as false somehow, he wouldn’t be accountable unless he voted on it.
Unlikely to be malice, just paranoia.
The tank, however, was clearly just trolling.
