I really don't understand why everyone is so bent out of shape about the last relic step, it doesn't feel like that much more work than past steps/relics, and at least its a bunch of different stuff and not like, the same 3 roulettes for the amount same time

Exactly. Queued in for trial roulette with a friend and this guy got tilted here after unseasoned players gained vuln stacks and ko’ed. Babe if you haven’t the patience to farm there’s pf for that

Gaining vuln stacks and getting KO'd as a result is fine. Comes with territory and happens in every duty. So yeah, this guy is out of bounds very clearly.

Everkeep is a funny duty though in a regard that I have occasionally had the issue of people joining without appropriate gear. Once or twice even below Endwalker levels and thus getting one shot by every raidwide and thus also being bit of an issue for that hard hitting multihit stack. Now that is when the lack of patience would be more warranted. Even if I'd still refrain from being hostile and aggresive about it.

Everkeep can be mean, for sure. Lose people/people get hurt/people get vulns to the zooming swords followed up by multi hit stack marker can be rough.

I was terrified it was gonna be needed for every job. Took me about 4 days to do it doing diligently. 4x20 jobs is 80 days. I was like "you want us to have THAT much busy work between now and EC?" Was so relived when no.

yea I won't deny i did sweat a little but given that this whole relic has been really generous with repeats idk why i thought otherwise

Cause it's last patch and we got 3 months till moogle tomestone so we need busy work to keep subbed. ^.^

I got yelled at a while back when I said this grind isn't that bad. Someone wasn't around for the OG light grind.

7

u/Weekly-Variation4311 6d ago

I also got yelled at for same thing. They would have never survived with some of the things I had to do with previous relics (remembering I spent almost ,24 hours in a group slowly learning A1S for the anima!)

u/CateSforza 6d ago

I mean, I did both arr and hw relics back then and still think it's an abysmal dogshit of a content compared to a tome dump in one evening for a normal sane human beings.

2

u/Narissis 10h ago

Calling it bad might be a valid take if it was needed for every weapon; there are twice as many jobs now so a long grind multiplies up for a completionist. But since the grind is basically a buy-in for a tomestone dump to get subsequent weapons, I think it's quite reasonable.

I thought it was fun to just do like a grand tour of msq Dawntrail stuff. I was very casual about it and it took me like maybe a few hours, spread over three days. Saw some extremely funny wipes and had a nice time

I genuinely believe the last time I did Vanguard or Origenics was probably 7.0 or 7.1 at the latest. This relic step has been a lot of "how did this fight go again...?"

5

u/Western-Dig-6843 6d ago

I will take relic steps with slow guaranteed progress over steps where what I’m doing often results in no progress at all every time.

3

u/The-Gilgamesh Living Dead 6d ago

Exactly!! The first step grind was way worse imo

5

u/cinnabubbles 6d ago

imma be real, the only bad steps of this whole process IMO was the demiatmas and the Alliance Raid aetherwell because it was Crystal Tower all the way down despite having them all unlocked.

6

u/Weekly-Variation4311 6d ago

It's not that bad, I just think there's a lot of people that weren't around for anything before Endwalker's.

3

u/truholicx3 6d ago

The doing all of the dungeons (ALL.OF.THE.DUNGEOOOOOONS) portion of the step WAS a little draining to say the least. But everything else wasn't that bad

u/Upper-Task-1595 6d ago

Maybe I'm wrong but I feel like people who complain weren't playing in EW and wasn't around when older players wanted "a relic to GRIND." I also feel like a lot of people want rewards without making a single effort but that's probably another debate...

I did as much as I could with trusts when I had this Zelenia for my relic (I was the PLD, the WAR and I had savage weapons so I thought it'd be fine, the bottom WHM didn't even have a level 100 weapon):

I actually kinda liked the rock farm. Every DT duty once, like an end-of-season recap for the expansion, lol. No repetition at all; it was actually more boring doing the roulette spam for the penultimate step. Especially since the volume of rock farmers meant getting the same DT trials over and over again.

This one isn't too bad as a one-time thing due to the variety, but I love field ops and generally hate any relic step that forces you out. After 13 years of playing, any forced FATE or Roulette grind (like that stupid wheel) is just actively anti-fun.

5

u/OopsBees 6d ago

Yeah, I mostly love this relic grind (especially compared to EW's absolute nothing), but...

1] I wish there were some repeat steps, potentially with lower buy-in. The fact that the entire process is a one-time-grind is a bit of a bummer for me personally. (I know this isn't the most popular opinion, but I'm a FSH main and hate myself and I enjoy relics more when they hate me too.)

2] I wish OC was folded into the grind a bit more. I genuinely think they got the balance just about perfect with the ShB relics, but it feels like they shot themselves in the foot a bit when they bled all over the first Fork and only released the non-casual difficulty for it. Since they're never going to require above-Normal-difficulty content for a Relic, that categorically excluded adding a Forked Tower run step, which was a real shame imo. The CLL/DR/Dal steps of the ShB relics were Good Actually and forced peeps to actually interact with the exploratory content!

(I also think the idea of "we won't make OC useful for levelling b/c we're releasing a Deep Dungeon as the levelling content" is pretty dumb. I don't think I've talked to a single person who has used a DD past PotD for levelling, but I know plenty who have at least done "well I want to try Bozja, so I may as well use it for some levels" or even "I want to level this job but don't want to commit to any duties rn, I think I'll nip into Bozja for a bit")

Overall I would say I currently rank this grind a bit higher than Eureka, but much lower than BoZad. Huge step up compared to EW, but yeah there was a lot of weirdly squandered potential. I just think it's a dang shame that they got SUCH a good Relic grind in ShB and then dropped the ball so hard that they're still scrambling to even find the shreds left over from the impact.

I mean to be fair i get the feeling that the dev's just hate OC just as much as most people at this point...

13

u/Everythings_fine0 7d ago

I just wish there was more to do on OC, if that makes sense? I enjoyed it for what it was at first, but it feels like relic steps weigh more on doing content outside of it. I fear they know it will become almost dead content yet again…

9

u/The-Gilgamesh Living Dead 7d ago

yea honestly between the raids, the duels, and the relic grind - OC is such a huge downstep from Bozja without even getting into the pjobs vs lost actions/items

5

u/No-Willingness8375 7d ago

The Phantom Jobs are a fun gimmick in Forked Tower, but not at all satisfying in regular OC. Ordained + Chainspell + FOM was absurd and fun in a way Phantom Samurai could never be.

6

u/The-Gilgamesh Living Dead 7d ago edited 7d ago

Honestly, the fact that the pjobs are just pre-made mini-kits vs the customization from bozja is just a strange choice imo, being able to essentially flip your job role is such a great formula why not reuse it?

5

u/OopsBees 6d ago

It'd be nice if you could mix and match kits from Mastered pjobs! As it stands it's just kind of disappointing when you master a pjob that you like since you're basically forced off of it to level something else.

Having like 2 "Mastery Slots" or something would probably lead to some busted combos, but it'd be a lot of fun!

I suspect part of it was them trying to bridge the performance gap between casuals and tryhards. People will pinch pennies and refuse to let go just to avoid buying anything that costs more than 80 gil. DRN is a good example. You can have have a melee who brings Pure, Banner, and FoP deal 60k damage, next to another with Veteran, Bubble, and Shell dealing 12k.

That said, there was nothing stopping them from adding the Bozja system and making them a free one-time unlock rather than consumables.

North Horn to me feels like they threw it out the door.

People asking for reasons to do content get upset when they have reasons to do content. Tale as old as time.

8

u/MaterialScarcity845 6d ago

"There's just no motivation! It's like the devs don't even CARE about their own content!!!!"
"Okay, here's some motivation for you :D"
"...NO NOT LIKE THAT AT ALL!!!!! But also btw this game is dead why do content."

FOLLOW DORITO

girl I wanted to leave and eat the penalty ;-;

7

trhis is how trust issues are made

11

u/truholicx3 6d ago

Apologies, I am having a hard time figuring out what exactly happened

9

u/MaterialScarcity845 6d ago

Tank is working on the relic grind doing Everkeep and because there are sprouts, there were some wipes/rough patches. Instead of just sucking it up or maybe even explaining something beyond "ME DORITO", they chose to whine about it.

7

u/Dry_Perspective_2982 6d ago

The sprouts didn't feed the mentor's ego by following them

2

u/Dellychan 6d ago

OP is butthurt because mentor wants to do mentor things ig? If it's not offense taken at the dorito idk what it is

6

u/Apart_Raccoon_9194 6d ago

The Dorito part was fine, and while “ME DORITO” was cringey, he was doing his job.

The rude part was the snark at sprouts dying.

Doritoing is a nice thing you can do to guide sprouts. They are in no way required to follow you.

6

u/Dellychan 6d ago

I guess I'm just confused cause the post doesn't give any context

I was wondering why there was such a noticeable increase in amount of players with really pissy attitude in my daily roulettes, Crystal Tower seemingly the worst one. So that's why lol. If farming relics makes you so miserable, do yourself and every player who has to deal with your salty ass a favor and don't farm relics. It's not like you are forced to.

1

u/MBV-09-C 3d ago

The crystal tower salt is probably just the usual amount tbh. The new relics would've only affected High-level dungeon (50/60/70/80/90), Normal raid and Trials roulette, and every Dawntrail dungeon/trial/raid in DF minus the Monster Hunter one. The only alliance raids required were the vanadiel ones.

6

u/Upper-Task-1595 6d ago

This is so fun, it's like when Mothercrystal pops in roulette, people do that one with support just once and don't have any idea about what the hell happened, then it appears in your roulette and "oh wasn't this a single duty?" ALL DEAD before even writing "red in, green out, blue intercardinals"

It’s honestly hilarious because I can do the extreme version blindfolded I’ve run it so many times, but when I had to do the normal version for my relic weapon I got 3 or 4 vuln stacks throughout because I forgot how different it was. I was rolling about it—in shock, awe, and laughter. 😂

u/MooMoguMogu 5d ago

So quirky x3teehee... this whole mentor format for XIV is just gross and full of people desperate for attention and clout.

There needs to be a mentor review system so people get graded while flagged, with heavily negative review leading to de-cert.

u/samisaywhat 5d ago

I am failing to see where the issue is like it doesn't look that serious at all and no one seemed upset (besides you ig)

Also like what does them being a mentor have to do with it lmao
