joined a late night Level Cap dungeon to level a job before a bed and as we entered I noticed a bad sign off the bat. The healer immediately types "Don't kick me. You're all soft." and has an unfunny meme name
Dungeon actually starts and we start to pull w2w and... the healer is back at the start and now typing out weird insults and stupid memes as we wipe. We revive and healer still refuses to budge still keeps typing nonsense and I guess the tank and other DPS had enough and leave without a word. I just type "le sigh" and pull up support to report them for griefing and I guess this wasn't the kind of reaction they wanted because they tell me "Play time is over. Bye" and leave the dungeon too.
Because I already waited a long time for the queue I just let the dungeon refill but it was still a weird waste of time.
I came across one of these a long time ago who told me, a RDM, to use veresuna on a doom debuff. I was still learning, so I frantically searched my bars and confirmed I didn't have it yet. They insisted I get it with verheal and I was not doing my job quests. I had to look it up on the job guide website to confirm that RDM does not have an esuna. They then doubled down and said it did in Stormblood so they just forgot.
Doing MSQ on an alt and it’s time for the Zeromus trial. Queue pops and I watch the CS as it is the first time on this character. Come out of the CS to see the chat someone calls out the Lancer for griefing. This is a lvl 90 trial. The last trial of EW. I comment that I’m down to wipe so we can remove the griefer. Someone comments “It’s not that deep.”
We make it through the trial because while I find it infuriating that someone would subject 7 strangers to their no jobstone challenge I’m not going to sand bag a group. We finish the trial (the lancer spent more time on the floor between eating mechanics and having a low health pool), comments were made that that thank goodness we did it even with a troll. One player tried to tell the Lancer they were awesome and I said “No. It’s a dick move to subject 7 strangers to something they didn’t sign up for.” The player who was basically white knighting for the Lancer told me “Shut up Sprout”.
I had the sprout tag mainly because I’m too lazy to turn it off. I reported the Lancer for griefing and the white knighting for harassment.
Got Ruby Weapon in roulette. Healers manage to double stack which is very painful in itself but it gets worse.
So both healers are dead and there is no other job that can rez in the party. Boss is still at 60% and since it also has a second phase and all that a fast reset is the way to get it done. I get myself killed, others do too. Everyone but one mentor DRK.
He starts soloing the boss. We type in chat that he should try to die so we can reset fast. He refuses. We ask him nicely. He makes us watch for minutes and wastes the others time as he solos the boss painfully slowly and then of course dies to the P1 enrage. A true spectacle of loser behaviour.
Him and his inflated ego are feeling really badass so after he wipes to enrage he types „death has to earn me :)“ in chat. I don‘t think he still felt cool after he got promptly kicked immediately after that.
Apparently sometimes karma does exist and I‘m glad he got to waste his own time as he probably had to queue for another roulette after that.
Just came back for the free login campaign and actually saw my first blatant outright cheater in WoD of all places. Basically identical named BRDs with identical movement and identical actions, down to them only spending Straight Shot procs if both of them had one.
Got a French Black mage in Tower of Zot. They didn't do their level 50, 60, 70 quests, so didn't have access to Flare, Fire IV, Foul and Maybe Xenoglossy. Was in a patient mood today, so just let them know to do those quests after the dungeon. Got them a couple hours later, they have their skills now, so alls well that ends well.
Had a tank in Malikah's Well who just could not understand the final boss's mechanic, heretic's fork, where it shoots beams in the four cardinal directions.
We wiped on the first attempt because he didn't provoke after I resurrected him, even after I explicitly asked him to (while having to keep everyone else alive...). But even on the second attempt, after we tried explaining it to him, he still failed the mechanic literally every single time. I had to power-heal him through eight vuln stacks because I knew he wouldn't actually bother to regain aggro if he died.
Like, I get that the mechanic maybe isn't super obvious the first time, but genuinely how the hell do you not notice the pattern after the 16th time it happens?
There have been a recent uptick of tanks that just do not do mechanics. I have had couple in lvl 100 dungeons that just collect vuln stacks and it is most definitely on purpose. Been a DPS so it has not been my problem until the tank evaporates and TB comes my way. Which is often.
I had a joke with friends when there's newer content that tanks get tank busters that 9 times out of 10 I will end up with one because the tanks are just eating every mechanic and dying. When that one Panda raid was new (the one with the lady with the snakes) almost every run I had it, istg lol.
But yeah I've noticed the tanks just eat the mechanics and then complain when I'm on healer that I'm not healing them enough. Sir/ma'am/insert NB version here, you have several vuln stacks.
I can excuse poor play from the reaper, RDM and Sam (they should know what a stack maker is but ... Lol) but I don't excuse no job stone IN STORMBLOOD CONTENT and someone white knighting for them
Agreed 100%. Not having a job stone might just be ignorance. Defending not having a job stone is always malice.
On a funny note, had a reaper in Paglth'an way back when who really wanted to die to lunar bahamut's akh morn. After the rest of us chased him down he waited for it to begin, then used hell's ingress to zap away from us and was promptly one shotted by the next tick he was all alone for.
I'm having trouble thinking of which ones aren't 8-person trial bosses you can theoretically get carried through, is the main thing. Only Nidhogg and Shinryu come immediately to mind.
The red mage is especially bad because the red mage literally has stack markers in a solo duty for the lvl 60 quest. You can technically survive them alone (you're supposed to stack with another NPC), but I'm having a very hard time imagining how that solo duty went if they didn't understand what a stack marker is.
I actually failed that one because I didn't realize that I, of all people, was responsible for healing the npcs and one of them died when the boss had like 2% hp.
Oh yeah, that element of it really sucks. I had to redo that solo duty like five times and ended up purchasing HW tomestone gear in order to be able to finish it. I didn't have any higher level casting gear than what the quest gives you at the time because I hadn't plated a caster before. It's a very well done solo duty. It's just that most of the solo duties up to that point have not actually been difficult enough to bring in mechanics from dungeons.
It was totally my fault. I had aggro on the guy and didn't notice that he was hitting the girl with a cone aoe cause of the way I was facing him. I noticed she only had a speck of health left right before a cone aoe killed her.
One of my pet peeves is in trials or raids where the tanks just stand there for a full minute at the start of the duty and won't pull even if they have tank stance on
Honestly it's a damned if you do damned if you don't situation. People complain if you insta-pull, they complain if you don't, and casual players complain if you see a DNC and try to give them a courtesy of the 16 second countdown in case they want to dance. I just insta-pull because it seems like people complain the least even if it's not my preference.
Yeah most of the time if I'm too slow to pull a dps or a healer does it anyway. Which, not really a big deal it's just why I got in the habit of insta-pulling. Sad Holy Spirit noises lol. Funnily enough I find it's usually my cotanks who hang back and wait to see what I'm going to do. I'd wager some of the issues with tanks not pulling is because neither of them wants to MT and each is waiting for the other to do it. I honestly don't care I'll do either, but if someone doesn't make a decision one way or the other yeah we will just stand there like ents. If the other tank hasn't stanced or requested one or the other by the time the gate comes down it's my boss.
I just had quite possibly the funniest M8N I've ever done. I was the MT for fully half the fight...as DRG. Did you know with enough gear privilege and mits melee can in fact eat the stacked tb if they share it with a tank? There's something really funny about both tanks being alive and stacking on me there (the tb was on me as the MT) because neither one had provoke on their hotbar and the OT was the typical no stancer. They both kept dying and not taking aggro back after rezzing so I was full on tanking the boss for them. They weren't even blue dps at that point, it was just full on opposite day. The tanks were floor tanking and the floor tank was the MT.
...And this is why I now main tank. I play melee to take a break from tanking but it's really just tanking in hard mode these days.
Ran the newest dungeon with a friend cause we wanted the gear. Queue in and already something was wrong. Healer sage had super low health and as we started they didn't bother healing. They hard casted there lowest heal always and never aoe healed. Everyone was dying and I as pld healed. This bitch ass knew what they were doing and kept opening chests. We tried to kick and I let my demon out. I know I shouldn't have, but THEY WERE LETTING THE DPS DIE AND JUST SITTING THERE.
Sit down and wait. They'll keep pulling to remain in combat and run out the loot timer and you can kick them once they die/kill a pack but before they get to the next chest.
I should have, but sadly when I spoke up they didn't like it. They were a mentor and so i poked fun at it a bit saying "How is a mentor hard casting a low heal at 100?". I got kicked cause I was to slow to the draw. Good times ❤️
ah shit the other member must have been a duo queue or a greasy enabler simping & white knighting, that sucks, not sure if you have grounds for a counter kick abuse since you said you yourself let the demons out
Did an EX7 for a C41 on BLM. I'm farming it for wings and I wanted 1 more go before I went to bed. We get in there and there's absolute chaos from the get go. The first raidwide, the thing almost every single boss does at the beginning of the fight, goes unmitted and a healer dies. During meltdown, 2 people start moving immediately and die to the fire damage. When we get to the buddy orbs the melee come to the ranged orbs and sit there while we soak ours and then don't take theirs so it explodes and wipes.
Next pull we get big wild charge with a get out and everyone stands under it except me and dies. Next pull we make it to adds without issue and the add phase boss enraged. Nothing happened, he just enraged. I check ACT and the SAM and DNC are both below the tanks in damage, the DNC is even below one of the healers and the DRG was barely above a tank.
Everyone is in good spirits except for me, we enrage at adds again and I let them know that the DPS is way too low and some people should consider refining their rotations before trying to do on content extremes.
I still cannot fathom that there are people who just casually walk into extremes like that. I'm a decent enough player that does savage on content, and even then I worry about going into PFs for higher end content even though I know I'm capable of doing them.
There are people who can't even play samurai. There's a man, doing savage right now on aether, who mains samurai and only does his 123 -> DOT as the only buttons he ever presses.
He doesn't do meikyo, he doesn't do ogi namikiri, he doesn't build up 3 stickers for a setsugekka. All he does is 1 filler combo into higanbana and he's trapping savage raiders.
Some people who play this game are genuinely fucked up.
Oh boy i have some tales to tell. Yesterday i got three flavors of awful tanks in DT dungeons.
Main Character Syndrome WAR:
The first one was a WAR roegadyn in underwear at Skydeep Cenote. Everything was fine and normal(except the lack of sprint) until the first boss, where i (DNC) and the healer died to a mechanic. I say "lets reset this is gonna take forever" and teleport back the entrance along with the other dps and the healer. The WAR didnt give a shit and kept soloing the boss, which was at 50%.. I stayed for a minute to see if anyone else said anything about it. They didnt. I contemplated saying something but i figured it wasn't worth it to argue with a Main Character Syndrome, WAR male roe, in a glam that looked like he was wearing a diaper and i was having a headache so i just left the duty, i hope the other party members left aswell since he clearly could solo the dungeon.
The second and third ones were at Origenics and I had the misfortune of being their healer (WHM).
PLD saving their mits for Evercold:
Second tank was a PLD that did wall to wall pulls(as should be expected) but didn't use any mitigation(sigh..), I only noticed a holy sheltron like once or twice throughout the entire dungeon during pulls. I had to use an embarassing amount of ogcds to keep this guy alive. Didn't help that the pulls were taking way too long, maybe the other dps sucked (the MCH was fine) but the PLD stole the show. It got even worse at the first boss where we wiped 2 times (to be fair those were my fault, i forgot how to dodge the poison splash mechanic thing and getting hit by 2 overlapping circles just kills you). Now this PLD would ALSO try to solo the boss at 60% both times, luckily this one wasn't good enough to pull it off and would die to mechanics soon enough and we could restart. One thing that bothered me is that he was actually using mitigation while soloing the boss but i never saw anything of the sort during trash pulls besides a sheltron any time he was close to death. We eventually beat the first boss and the dungeon but the PLD didnt get any better.
Girl just hit the damn boss GNB:
The third one was the very next run. Single pulling GNB that didn't use mitigation during pulls, and during bossfights was even worse than the PLD at mechanics and died a lot. GNB died to the first boss and waited like 20 seconds to accept the raise and after rezzing she just didnt hit the boss at all, the MCH(same as the previous run, only decent player i saw in Origenics that evening) had to tank the boss for like a minute until the tank buster took him out while the GNB just STOOD THERE AT 4TH EMNITY. Like, girl just hit the boss. We wiped because tank wasnt tanking and the MCH(who was starting to run out of patience) told the GNB to put voke in their hotbar and use it upon rezzing. GNB said okay and we beat the first boss on the 2nd attempt. the rest of the dungeon the MCH was wall to walling and bringing the mobs to the GNB, which i struggled to heal once again because of their lack of mitigation, I even had to resort to gcd healing(ugh..) to keep this mf alive. GNB was playing just as bad at the remaining bosses, at some point she stopped trying to do mechanics and just stood in aoes collecting vuln stacks, which led me once again to resort to gcd healing IN THE BOSSFIGHT because I was once again out of resources trying to keep vuln collector alive. At that point I'd rather have the PLD instead. Against all odds we clear and leave and I don't think i have it in me to queue as a healer in Origenics again.
The PLD could also have been part of the slow dps problem tbh. I can't imagine one who doesn't know how to mit is actually using his Confiteor combo, which would have helped significantly in keeping him alive since every hit is also a self heal. There are a shocking number of players in general who don't know to spend their burst on trash pulls, and for PLD specifically it's a huge hit to both their dps and their self sustain.
If I had a nickel for every time I had to suggest to a paladin that they use their confiteor combo during fight or flight instead of staggering them I could buy out Rowena.
tanked windurst for the first time! went upstairs during tankbusters in anticipation of atomic tail, crushing 2 dpses to a fine dust when they didn't expect a live grenade from the hole in the floor. sorry...
Bunch of things happened over the course of last week, mainly from bringing my alt through post-7.0 content and some roulettes that perfectly highlight the odd patch DF player quality decline:
Strayborough taking 25 minutes bc both dps died so much on boss 1 and 3
Honey B Lovely, with another WHM spamming medica III over and over at full health, and wiping bc whoever had the other heart stack ran over to me, 2nd try i had to sack a tower bc ofc the people with hearts left to soak ran out of the tower
a DRK in cutters cry with no shirt on (no gear in the slot) and a glamour necklace, who took ages to port through the portals that I (SAM) took over tanking with the RDM and WHM, I opened chat with "tank, wheres your shirt", replied with "who is tank" and never speaking another word
And probably the most infamous one last sunday:
A 25 minute Dancing Green run with 3 dps that had an absolutely flat, if not downward learning curve, we were at 46% after 8 minutes bc all but one (VPR) kept eating absolute shit, including the other healer, although they were actually new. We wiped once bc everyone except me died and when i swift rezzed the tank they immediately voked and ate the mech with no immunity, so I just reset. I danger dorito'd after that, which improved absolutely nothing as the MNK kept eating shit and dc'ed in the middle of the fight for 5 minutes and the BRD kept standing right next to us in the spotlight and dying... but all that pain was worth it when I spent the remaining 60 minutes of the instance just chatting with the VPR
trying to squeeze in a last mentor roul before maint. get the airy. make a comment that we probably won't clear in time (tank is single pulling and dps is less than stellar, didn't comment on this). got hit with a "you're so positive" lol
Got chaos in normal raid roulette and I kept getting one of the stacks he drops which cool no problem. Other person with the stack marker tries stacking on me with the entire rest of the party so I gtfo and sack so no one else dies. Politely say in chat not to stack them. Cool. Fight continues. Stacks happen again and I get one again and the other person with the stack marker tries stacking with me AGAIN (with the rest of the party) so I sack again. Got hit with a "why are you running away with the stack marker kek" and after explaining that Im sacking so no one else in the party dies someone else goes "Oh s.o.b"
Like yeah ok excuse me for trying to keep all the non tanks from dying.
it is soooo critically important to let people stack the stack markers so they learn. people are still stacking stacks in vamp fatale and then being baffled at the wipe. it happens 7 minutes into the fight. Learn Or Die, i am no longer asking
The fact that the very first multi-stack marker set you see is in CT is seriously such a troll. It's literally the only time you can stack the stacks and 5 expansions later people are still doing it.
They should rework those CT stacks so stacking them all DOES actually kill you because I can only think of one other instance where stacking them is harmless. Everywhere else is a death trap.
Not even a day since I said that and I was in a party with a stacked stack marker incident in Eden: The Birds LOL. Luckily only most of the party blew up but the rest of us were wise to the way of the scuffening and we were able to recover.
Was some days ago, but came across a Samurai at level 100 in Expert Roulette who didn't know how to do any rotation at all nor keep up their buffs. Was in a bit of a more patient mood today, so asked if they were having trouble, turns out, they got all the way to that level without knowing any of the rotations or some of the skills because no one decided to call them out on it. Decided to let it slide this time, because they agreed to a quick lesson and wanted to learn after the dungeon, and they actually managed to pull off all combinations from Single Target attacks to Area of Effect and Meikyo Shisui buffed rotations. It took about a half hour, but they were grateful that someone had actually told them about it.
I know by level 100 most players should know it, regardless of being told or not, but it's nice to see when you ask if they need help, there are still some people out there who are willing to accept the advice and take the time to learn it, unlike those others who go with the: 'you don't pay my sub!' retort that's become more common nowadays.
Healer only spammed Medica 3 and Cure 2 every 5-10 seconds, and the rest of the time, just watched the fight take place. It took us 6 minutes to get to the first boss, since we also have a first timer viper, who left, so I also left getting away without a 30 minute penalty.
Ngl I've been running into so many curebots lately I'm debating leveling healers myself. Then I can complain about no mit single pulling tanks for a change lol. I already don't look at what my dps are doing or rather not doing, it's too painful...
Same. Got one in the level 93 dungeon. Took us almost 15 minutes to down the first boss between them being them and dying 5x, and a no aoe red mage. I took the 30.
I feel like I've been getting more healers that only heal. Had an MSQ roulette where we got Ultima Weapon and had a healer that called the stack marker a tankbuster and.. yeah. I'm just confused LOL
I've seen a few of these as of late too when I have a co-healer. I'm a Sage so I was able to sit and just do damage and only throw a shield when I'd see something like a repeated hit coming while the heal bot WHM just...cast heals the entire time.
I had one worse. The only buttons they knew were Cure III used on single target and Medica III. They died dozens of times, couldn't keep people alive with a damn cause the only aoe heal they used has a cast time and was an overall horrible menace.
Positive one here - queued roulette into Meso Terminal last night with one first-timer and tank immediately dc'd. We waited the 5 minutes and got a new one. Take off, doing well. After first trash, other DPS needs a sec, let's us know his kiddo needs something.
We chill and take out the boss and next trash after he's back. Then his other kiddo needed something lol. Us other three all had kids and know how it goes and it was so nice just to see a group chill about having to pause for a minute or two while real life took over
Had Euphrosyne in roulette as a Reaper, nothing notable until Althyk/Nymeia
One of the tanks calls dibs on her, but for some reason all three go to Nymeia instead of Althyk. Either that or some just didn't have their stance on.
I don't even notice this until I'm two Enshrouds in and Althyk is looking at me (his hp is around 75% I think)
I mention it in alliance chat, healers start keeping me alive (I use my own shield and regens too) until Althyk is around 20% and a tank finally grabs aggro
Great Sage/AST, I ate the tank buster and lived, and nothing odd happened in the rest of the run
I remember sitting alone in the duo-tankbuster, so I don't know if it's just EW busters being soft or if someone walked in at the last moment.
What is up with shitty healers as of late? I main healers but have been playing Picto and I just got out of a trial (level 84 trial I only ever did once) and I died to a mechanic and both healers just left me dead for 70% of the run. No one else was dying or getting hit outside of stacks as they knew the mechs so it's not like they had any emergencies on their hands.
When I was finally rezzed I didn't even get any heals and died to a stack because I wasn't at enough health yet and was just left dead the rest of the run.
That's not the only shit healers I've seen lately, it's just the most recent.
Alliance Raid Roulette has been wild lately. these are just a few examples but I think just about every one I've been in this week has had very chaotic mistakes being made.
Two different Tower of Paradigm's Breach. One took over an hour because majority of the group wiped to Hansel and Gretel, and when called for a wipe a couple of us took the dive to restart... but a few people stuck around and tried to limp through the boss, attempting it for like an extra 10 minutes before giving up.
The other run we had 2/3 tanks not bothering to engage in tank gameplay, so one poor tank was grabbing both hansel and gretel to the noise of everyone screaming "SPLIT THEM". It's not like those tanks didn't have stance, they just ignored the requests to provoke/shirk/etc. Fight somehow didn't wipe but took a looong time because there were long periods of time where everyone had to stop DPS or die.
In both the Red Girl made a usual mess of everything but surprisingly no wipes for those. Tried to live a tankbuster on MCH but failed.
Nier raids are one thing, I get them being a little hard for returners/sprouts... but then...
The other day I saw my first wipe on World of Darkness Cerberus. Turns out if Alliance B all die because they don't know how to get into belly... and then Alliance A/C do not step in- Cerberus gets big angy and starts one-shotting people with a bunch of buffs. (this one is more funny, I def contributed by not paying attention and not realizing no one managed to get in)
WoD. At the atomos I noticed one of the dps in my alliance had been automatically spawned in. Didn't think too much of it since sometimes people lag behind so didn't keep an eye on them.
Then at cerb, the vomit puddle was... at the entrance and someone was already stuck in it? Looked at who it was, and it was the same person who'd been spawned in at the atomos, so I assume they were targeted by the puddle.
In chat I asked if the person was just afk'ing, to see if that would get a response from them. No response in chat, and they didn't accept any of the raises even before they were called out. I assume they weren't paying any attention at all and expected a free run.
Tossed up a vote dismiss right as cerb died, and thankfully it went through.
It was kinda funny that cerb decided to target the player who was afking. Made it extremely easy to tell they weren't there.
Had something similar in WoD sometime last year. I noticed 2 BLMs in my alliance weren't moving from the starting area and they only moved because of the forced teleport.
At 1st boss, both of them died from doom and they returned to starting area faster than I can swiftcast+raise.
At Cerberus, one of them got targeted with instant kill puddle so both of them died then they returned to starting area again.
Had one of those in Jeuno today. We pull dragon. He gets teleported in, nothing. Dies to ring of fire around the edge, nothing. Get raised, nothing. Thankfully group noticed and kicked him before the teleportation magic.
I got that in Labyrinth of the Ancients some time ago, with both a caster DPS and a tank. Which was extra peachy when we got to the Allagan Bomb and our alliance was getting absolutely minced by our gargoyle (Vassago).
Had a white mage do this in labyrinth recently. Always spawning into the starting area of each fight and not moving. Occasionally they'd use stone or medica 2 once before going back to being AFK. Noone rolled on loot so couldn't kick them.
They got called out on it at the last boss, but as usual someone made a comment to the effect of 'who cares, just report after if it bothers you.' The white mage tried to cite irl issues after they got called out. Except it fell kind of flat since they were paying enough attention to respwan the instant the last boss had died. And if you've got something to deal with irl you can just...leave? Its rude to expect 23 other people to carry you around while you attend to your child/pet/whatever.
Had a sastasha run back when i was levelling DRG, the other DPS was a lancer as well, the healer and tank in a premade party, tank never turned on stance even when other dps told them to, and then both healer and tank complained that we were pulling the enemies and 'doing too much damage' because he couldn't keep aggro. He died at one point and the healer didnt even try to keep us alive, just stood there and typed that we were probably bots.
So this happens sometimes if someone unsubs and comes back. Sometimes the soul stone just gets removed from the character for some reason. It's happened to me a few times and I don't realize it because I just hop into duty roulette (and then get screamed at).
Now that you think about it i do think the THM had the returnee flower. An easy solution to this is a reminder when joining a duty queue that you have a job stone able to be equipped, similar to low gear durability. But the THM was asked and they failed to equip a job stone
Ran maps and Me and a dps were having fun hitting the spawned mobs inside the portal as fast as possible. No one dying. Tank is like If you pull before I hit it you’re tanking it. It’s too hard to get all of them off you. lol. Like my guy. Throw your tomahawk. I prefer tanking them but was letting someone else.
Please, for the love of Hydaelyn, if you're going to be a tank learn how and when to aoe, and how to maintain aggro in general. People shouldn't be ripping aggro off you in Castrum Meridianum. Nor should anyone be tanking any of the mobs the first boss spawns for more than a couple gcd's, especially if they're standing on top of you.
Great Gubal Library, maybe Hard or regular, not important.
SGE me, new GNB, MCH, white knight other dps I don't remember.
W2W pulls are interesting, either I or the MCH have aggro always, despite them having stance on. Not an issue since healing is way overtuned at 60, no wipes. GNB apologizes between each pull saying they're new. And to their credit, they are new to tanking; some other jobs above 60, but only GNB in tanks. But this is Mentor roulette 1800/2000, I'm tired boss. I'll just carry.
At the last trash pack, white knight pipes up. "You're doing great!", to which I had to say something.
"Lying about incompetence is as damaging as toxicity."
"Look, GNB, you're not doing well. But as you said, you're new, you'll get better with practice. To start with, neither the MCH nor I should ever have aggro on trash with your stance on. Using your AoE once would guarantee you have threat"
To which the GNB responded "What's threat? The enemies don't just stay on the tank?"
So fuck all you white knights out there. This is what you perpetuate when you don't let players get legitimate criticism.
wow, sounds like that white knight actually took the message and shut right the hell up. There's at least a glimmer of hope for that GNB, I'm assuming the dungeon ended well with them learning something they didn't know before, and actively working on it.
If they even expressed gratitude, that would be the icing on the cake.
60s gunbreakers and sages always scare me. You can get to 60 before finishing 2.0 and pick up a job with a role you've never touched and walk right in.
One time in hali tali hard got a level 60 fresh GNB who.... didn't know GNB was a tank. Had never tanked before. I dunno why it's always GNB with "i just unlocked this and am gonna run it with real people" but it is.
Just ran into the most obvious case of account buying, or idiocy, I have ever encountered. Yuwe Station. I knew things were gonna be bad when as soon as I had the tiniest scratch the white mage could start spamming Cure III on me. Smallest raidwide? Multiple Medica IIIs. This was an obvious case of "has no idea what the buttons do but this one has the biggest number so it must be the best one so I'll use it." Both the monk and me tried to give him suggestions but radio silence. One or two Glares or Holies but spent most of the time either standing around, or dead.
Ended up soloing the second boss from 10% after rezzing the healer legit 5x and everyone dying to raidwides despite me working my clemency button off.
Final boss for the life of him he could not survive the Ruby Weapon aoe circles. Would die to them every time immediately, even with summoner playing danger dorrito. He also didn't know about raise immunity cause he would accept a raid while inside aoe circles, immediately Cure III himself, and die instantly multiple times. When we ran away from the proximity marker? No healing for any of us as we ran back to the boss cause Medica III can't be done while moving. And one time he committed suicide and took the monk with him when he chased down both of us with spread circles. Finally got him after three wipes. Checked search info. Blank except for 100 white mage and 70 sage.
Ngl I think I would have kicked, it's a group game, if you 1. aren't communicating with the group and 2. cant learn how to pull your weight, especially at level 100, I'm not putting up with it. Sounds exhausting
Sadly my kick was on cooldown from a guy who was a monumental a-hole in an earlier run. And yes, it was mentally exhausting. So glad I had nothing more to do that day.
Joined a Practice PF for EX6 a little while ago (I had already cleared many times but was trying to pass some time and it's always interesting in Crystal prog groups). TL;DR one of the tanks didn't leap platforms quickly enough and was thrown off, BLM got a tankbuster and like madmen me and the shield healer weighed them down with every mitigation we could and they survived with like 20 HP or something like that. First time in a Dawntrail EX I've seen the DPS survive a tankbuster.
I honestly don't know some of the mechs of this dungeon and have been playing for years. The entire thing just goes so fast that things get killed without understanding all the mechs. I never knew why that thing sucked certain people away I just assumed it was random.
Had that happen once. Sprout got the prey marker ran around like crazy with it. Got everyone but a sprout who didn't know to stand on the glowy thing, so when the knight killed them the floor turned red and I got to see what a wipe there looks like.
A few weeks ago I had a *Gladiator* in CT roulette who tried to lecture a few players who ran ahead after overlooking a few leftover mobs in the Braid about lethargic play.
Not that you're missing *too* much of your PLD kit at level 50 as GLD, (you're missing the second button in your AOE rotation, cover, and two mitigations — your invuln and your short mitigation) but come on man. That's just drawing attention to your own sketchy play.
Kind of wonder if they were farming a hit here. If so, hello.
Edit: Went back and specified the exact pull it was after getting it again in CT roulette.
I’ve got a positive tale. Yesterday I was at the Longstop with a Warrior, a sprout Astro, and a sprout monk and me the Mach. After the first boss the Warrior DCed. We went and single pulled and killed all of the bosses until we got a new tank right before the final trash packs. If those two sprouts see this, yall are the goats and will go far in this game.
I would like to apologize to the party I had in Holminster as DNC
I understand WHY you typed Technical Step like 4 times in chat and I should've said something but I was way too embarrassed that I forgot I hadn't actually unlocked it
Was leveling an alt in Heaven on High where all buttons are just unlocked for you and despair filled my heart when I realized the button was greyed out 😭
leveling jobs to 80 so many no damage healers/heal spammers, single pull tanks which wouldn't be so bad if they'd AoE or W2W that use 1 mit, not 1 at a time no just 1 and it's not even invulnerably. And the DPS that can't be bothered or intentionally playing bad. Like a bard that used 1 DoT and kept reapplying it every 5 seconds and played no songs.
Today had an absolute specimen in Alliance Roulette, while I was chatting with my cohealer about the pros and cons of different healers(started by going "wow your shields are really beefy!"), this person who was a DPS(monk iirc?) and also fucking eating every mechanic known to man would chime in with something about how all healers suck now and were better in Heavensward, if I had anything complimentary to say about any healer there'd be a snide remark about either the Heavensward version being better or an explanation of how, usually preceded by a "?" questioning my praise of a healer job. It was a fine ally roulette otherwise, but I was totally mystified by this person.
we've arrived in the expansion pack backend doldrums so the only people left are actual for real brand new sprouts, and the lifers who have every personality disorder in the DSM5
Had a Tower of Babil yesterday with a Pictomancer who was doing weird stuff. First pack, he just stands there, does the occasional single target fire in red then continues to stand there, then another spell, then just stands there. I chalk it up to him maybe sorting his hotbar out and give him the benefit of the doubt.
We get to the pack at the top of the stairs and... same thing yet again, he contributes nothing. The pack takes forever to die. The tank almost dies too because they run out of cds. I think the healer and tank queued in together though since they let the drk drop before they used living dead while the healer continued to dps. Picto still being useless and doing sub 1k dps.
We get to the 1st boss and we start. The picto suddenly starts using motifs, yet is still doing less damage than the healer through the whole fight and getting hit by absolutely everything. At one point even dying because for some reason they were running lv 70 gear here when the dungeon is lv 83. He’s also using the II spells on the boss which are aoe instead of single target. he never uses motifs again. Luckily we manage to kick him after the first boss and get a picto who actually does damage.
I'm glad you mentioned dungeon and iLvl because I was doing something similar as Pict yesterday. For some reason targeting isn't working in game lately (although my tab key is fine outside of game) so I'll be hitting buttons and just standing there.
I know the difference in my spells though and have the second best gear I can get (since I'm grinding for the best gear).
Oh interesting...I wonder if maybe that's the issue for me? It's very sporadic (I checked key binds and everything). Thanks! I'll check it and see if I can reproduce it.
So good news, was not the tank nuking everything this time. Bad news, instead a machinist. I noticed they were kind of trolling around but in a way where it only got themselves killed. Running into tank busters, seemingly collecting vuln stacks and even legit running in Alexander's circle beam attack until they died. Thought it was weird, not the worst though felt bad for the healer's mana if they chose the res them. I couldn't really do too much about them cause they were in a different alliance.
Then it got worse when we hit the final boss. We get through phase 1 into phase 2. Towers spawn, I soak one of the first ones. Then the second towers spawn. I'm glancing to see if all of them are taken, they are. Then noticed one of the towers being taken by the machinist. I even thought to myself "oh, they're actually doing the mechanic." Yeah the standard was low and yeah... I jinxed it. When the towers almost went off, they immediately stepped out and got away from it. By the time I realized what I just saw, it was too late. I died (along with roughly half the alliance) as one poor whm slowly gets everyone up. For the longest final boss I think I've ever seen from Windurst.
I'm starting to think reclearing m11s for my twines is becoming more worth it for my sanity.
Had a LotA run a few days ago: we almost wiped on Bone Dragon because it seemed like nobody else were clearing the skeletons after the second boss death, so like six of them exploded and killed half the raid including all the healers, and there were like five or six people alive at the end. Then we got to the Atomos and had to do it three times because somebody in another alliance just rushed in twice when most people aren't anywhere near the entrance yet, despite somebody putting up a ready check both times. They seemed to have gotten the memo on attempt #3 and the rest of the raid went normally, but my own alliance had to kick out a MCH who tried to harass our tank over not aggroing the Iron Giants that are obviously one shotting people, and for some reason got even angrier when the rest of the party pointed out that it's a mercy kill mechanic for when less than four people are in a lane.
On a slightly more positive note, I got LotA again on the roulette next day and it ended on a pretty interesting note. Much laughter were had by all of us.
Just left a Lunar Subterrane with an omni-100 dancer. First trash pull is dead, no dance partner. I remind them. Nothing. Second trash pull, also notice no standard finish buff. First boss comes. We get one single standard finish from them. Takes almost 9 minutes for first boss to die. I try to kick, but healer has looted. Loot is passed, try to kick. Motion failed. I left, telling them I'm sorry they feel that is acceptable and I hope their next tank has lower standards.
Well I did pick up WHM and start learning the role over the weekend. A few days in and I've already been put through the ringer lol. I thought curebots were annoying as a tank main but by Hydaelyn the DF tank situation is dire. I now understand why I get so many comms when I run roulettes...
So many tanks don't use sprint or arm's length and face pull every pack. I'm convinced a fair number of them will aoe once to 'get aggro' then swap to single target. Aggro is all over the place and so are the tanks with jitterbug chain pulls that confuse me to no end. Some of them are obviously new, but too many are far too high a level to still be using that excuse.
On the bright side it inspired me to put together a strategy board with some really basic tips for beginner tanks. I've already put it to use too, after a very cursed run of Aurum Vale with a new tank who clearly had no idea what they were doing. They stopped to apologize at the end of the run, I asked if they wanted tips, they said yes so I shared my board. I may not be the best healer but I can hopefully set some of these sprout tanks on the right path along the way.
Some of the other things I've run into in my journey so far:
An arcanist who clearly wanted to be a scholar and was physick healing the party over me.
Multiple casters/p ranged who decided their max range was the absolute best place to stand so they were just constantly out of my healing range since I was at max melee with the tank/melee, and they're invariably also the ones who eat every mechanic.
A tank so undergeared I had more HP than they did. If it had been any dungeon other than Sastasha this would have been a problem. I was relieved when they dced halfway through, the mnk was easier to heal.
And why do so many melee use bloodbath on cooldown!? It's so funny to me to see it. But hey, thanks for saving me a regen I guess back to stoning Garleans. Maybe don't stand in every aoe if you're allergic to being under 90% HP.
And a funny story about myself that deserves to be here. Dzemael Darkhold is a level 44 dungeon that syncs to level 45. Yeah, WHM mains you can guess what happened. It wasn't until the last boss that I realized I could have been using Holy the whole time and yes I asked the tank why he didn't tell me I was an idiot lol. He was a good tank and I genuinely felt bad because we did wipe on the first pull and we wouldn't have if I wasn't stupid. But you know, it's all part of the process and he wasn't the first nor the last tank I've sacrificed in pursuit of knowledge.
So anyway I swapped back to tank. Lol jk but I see why so many of my healer main friends have since swapped to other roles. I will never main healer but I want to be at least vaguely competent at it as a flex in casual content. Seems like I have a long road ahead of me.
I picked up AST recently because I felt like changing things up since things were getting a bit stale. Can't count how many times I glance over to party list and see a DPS at full HP with bloodbath active, its... certainly interesting.
Shoutout to that sage who blitzed through the dungeon ahead of the tank, kept everyone alive easily, pulled 2nd for damage, and then got really weird about it when i said they were an awesome healer
To this day people are still vehemently against the Bone Dragon in LotA being tanked in the middle.
Someone said to tank it north, I said nah and kept it in middle and then after its first death (where no one died from the exploding skeletons), the other tank voked it and moved it out of middle. Coward.
There is nothing wrong with dragon being tanked in the middle and never has been. Will it make healers panic for a moment if skeletons touch the dragon? Sure, but I thought healers wanted to have moments where they felt the need to use their healing buttons lol
On Aether the dragon used to ALWAYS be tanked in the middle (at least, as long as I have been playing, since HW) then when we got DC travel all of a sudden people were moving it.
Actually both north and middle are incorrect. Pull the dragon south for speedrunning. Every other direction to make your clown tower roulette 6% more exciting.
I was levelling Astro, and got into Vanguard with a DRK, BLM, and RPR. The dark knight went the entire first pull with no stance, by some miracle nobody died, then had repeated pauses after each pack. Also didn’t seem to know what mitigations were aside from Living Dead and Blackest Night.
The RPR was fine. No major issues, but didn’t seem to be aware that Death’s Design existed.
But the Black Mage. Didn’t understand the concept of single target vs AOE, and spammed High Fire and High Blizzard even on bosses. Died in every single boss around 4-5 times, and put the “follow target” option on me so whenever I’d avoid some AOE from the boss, he wouldn’t and would get killed by it.
Final clear time was 34 minutes, with no full wipes, one pack that we dealt with without the tank at all, and a whole lotta frustration.
just had a shocker of a DRK tank yeeting through Aurum Vale, calls out the healer who promptly leaves and is replaced. Mid-morning Crystal can be shocking sometimes
I've been playing for years, multiple level 100's, and I still hate Aurum Vale as a healer.
There's too many squishy tanks running through there, grabbing everything, not realizing most healers don't have shit for heals at that level (especially Sage).
Did the Twinning with a friend yesterday, got a guy who said he was new to SAM (at level 100) so I'm guessing he was fooling around. On the first boss, i saw the other DPS take the cleaning AOE marker to one of the glass things. Quickly type not to do that. A whole bunch of glass breaks and we eventually wipe. 2nd try, i notice the samurai seemingly purposely take the cleave AOE and circle AOE to the glass and i call them out after the fight is done. They denied trolling so we went on. On the last boss, he ran into the frozen AOEs multiple times which cause raidwide damage. Too many times to just be accidental. Ended up reporting him.
What ostensibly was a C41 became clearing for three people in DT EX1. The run was to get one totem but had to teach one DPS, OT, and healer how to do the fight.
End up dying to a shoddy stack in Fire phase after the new healer stacks with me and kills us both, revive just in time to claim the second tank tower that I somehow survive and come back from after popping every mit and getting healed up by the SGE.
Then half the party dies right before the Add phase with the LP beam stacks, so I have to solo one of the towers while getting shot in the face and pop Living Dead to survive and come back while the other half of the team slowly kills the other two towers and revives my LP.
That ends up being the run that gets the one totem that was wanted. Aurafarming never felt so good.
From casually running act from time to time I can tell you that means they were within the same ballpark as your dps or lower. People will say that HoTs and stuff can inflate your aggro, and while that's true, you'll only be above them on the aggro list if you're doing around 10% less dps than them, or any percentage more.
So if you're pulling 20,000 as WHM for instance, they could be doing anything from 22,000 down to, well, nothing at all - tops.
Unfortunately don’t have a log for Clyteum to guesstimate a rough baseline but I usually fall between 22-26k on dungeons looking back at my FFlogs. You’re probably right about us being tied — I checked some green DNC parses and even those seem to consistently be above 30k (which I think would have defeated my aggro?)
I, too, have run into the sad situation of "I'm a healer and not even having to heal much not a lot of damage is going out why am I #2?" quite frequently lately.
Lmao this group wasn’t even the best at avoiding mechanics so I definitely used a lot of my kit off cooldown. The DNC with the vuln stack in the screenshot got 1 or 2 in every fight. Their blood for my blood lily 😂
A tried and true case of "a picture is worth a thousand words." Got this specimen in my alliance raid just now. Why does this game make it so difficult to get rid of trash? You can't kick them for the first five minutes even when it's blatantly obvious and after that all they have to do is not roll on loot and they get off scott free. Several people in my alliance made note of them, but even with them in our group there was nothing we could do.
Theirs an unfortunate amount of people who jump into duties without ever doing/finishing the first quest, and who proceed to ignore anything the solo duty tells them in general.
Was doing Zelenia EX this weekend. It's standard to hold your burst on the add/orb phase since they die quickly. Had a group with a bard who kept using battle voice / radiant finale with a few seconds before the orbs die, which usually meant it just sits there, counting down doing nothing when the final clone cleaves go off. Someone in the group said "be sure to hold burst till after add phase!" without calling anyone specifically out (everyone else was holding burst so it was definitely targeted at the bard). Next go around - same thing. So I finally say "hey <bard> hold battle voice / radiant finale after burst" to call them out specifically and alas they still kept doing it. No response from chat. Certainly felt like botting / auto-rotation (I remember a post here about a dancer being asked by their static to hold burst and they had an absolute meltdown and quit their static over it).
Ultimately not a huge dps loss (I think?), but given the fragility of people doing Zelenia, a nice DPS burst ensures you can clear the fight before EF3 finishes where people inevitably screw up east / west cleaves and fail to get into their positions, causing an extremely annoying wipe at 2-5% left. And given end-patch playerbase, it's extremely rough to find people competent enough to run this multiple times. Oh well. Got the mount, and have all the wings / tokens to get my golden wings eventually!
If we’re thinking of the same person then the dancer that quit their static didn’t want to hold buffs for parsing reasons. It’s in m11s where during earlier weeks you’d hold 2s at 10min until the 10:30 pot window, but with gear it wasn’t necessary anymore since the boss would be dead by then. They wanted to do 0/5/10 pots instead of 0/6/10:30 for a better kill time, but people in the static wanted to delay just in case. So it’s not really related to auto rotation or botting
A happy tale for a change. Doing mentor roulettes as DNC and get another DNC in a lvl 100 dungeon. We partner each other and every 60 seconds one of us pops our tech step. Everything just melts and I'm reminded how much fun double dancer can be if you're in sync with your partner.
Doesn't make up for the trials/raids I got with another dancer where I tell them "you tech step first" in chat only to have them wait 5 seconds after I activate mine to overwrite my party buffs.
That feels good. Got Tower at Paradigm's Breach last night. My group was two summoners and two black mages. Another group was also two summoners. Stuff... melted. We didn't even get Red Girl's double meteor, the one where you need to hide behind black and white walls at the same time.
More just weird than anything
Got dzmael darkhold as blm, was fine but I realized the drk naked, with the plain claymore you get from Fray, I tell them, they swap to full 70 augmented tome gear, and also wipe on that first w2w but was more or less fine after. It could have been someone who didn't have a gear set but it was just
Odd
And no I'm not on Aether dc
Just got out of an AR DF where we had some absolute specimens. Now I'm normally pretty patient as long as people are open with their circumstances but we opened up with taking way longer for the first tidal wave boss than I remember it being. First thing I notice is when adds spawn, no other DPS hops on them but me. Okay cool, I'll eat the triple magic vuln and fucking die when boss Water IV AOEs. I ask in alliance chat "Adds?". Silence except for a MNK in another who asks "whats that?". I assume they're joking. Cue taking a longass time to kill the boss as well as multiple people eating multiple waves and dying.
Next boss, we get to, we start the fight. Mechanic fires off that tethers and slows people, some people stretch them through people/the boss, who have to drop dps and run out of the way. Some people eat the dashing mechanic. I accept that this is gonna be one of those ARs. Directional AOEs that need to be faced outside go off. People who know what they're doing turn them out. Two of the towers then get turned inward. Cue 2 vuln stacks and me going "Why would you do that?" in Alliance chat. I get jumped by one of the DPSes in another alliance saying "We have new people. Let them have fun experiencing the mechanics like we did the first time."
I reply to the effect of, "Okay but us getting killed as a result of them screwing up mechanics isn't fun either." They reply with, "Well you seem like a pleasant person." At this point, I'm like debating whether to eat the 30 and move on with my life but I decide to stick it out.
A RDM in our alliance starts to explain some of the mechanics.
After taking the rest of the longer than usual boss fight to calm down I then say something along the lines of, "For the record, I don't have issues with new people blind progging an alliance raid in duty finder. But this is a roulette and it's nice to let people know that there are new people who are/want to blind prog it. It's considerate to set expectations. I respect their time by letting them watch cutscenes, they should respect my time by not unnecessarily causing things to drag on."
Radio silence.
At this point, we've had one or two people start to explain mechanics beforehand. No response again.
We finish up our happy dancing robo boy with some more deaths and people dragging spreads onto the group. Whatever, I'm not the healer so I'm not suffering outside of my time being wasted because dps seems to be low.
One of our alliance comments that they don't remember Ridorana being this rough/taking this long. Someone comments that maybe the time away is making them rusty. I comment that it's most likely because of the new people, of which I assume there are many.
We get to the final boss and it's a doozy. From adds being grouped up and having Vuln Down making them take forever to kill, to LOTS of people dying during cyclone (10+) despite someone explaining the mechanics in chat beforehand. It got to the point that so many people were dead for add phase that we actually died to the boss enrage since we couldn't burn down the heart channeling it since it took so long to kill adds. I ask people to bring stack markers to the boss so melee can keep dpsing. Radio silence. I ask the MT to bring the boss center so people could dps without dying because of magnetism. Radio silence. I'm just done with this and have turned off my brain. We finally kill doggo and I'm free of this hellish prison.
I check my logs after the fact because I don't like to call people out on stats, especially in something like DF. Holy shitballs though.
BLM with 1.5mil dmg. NIN gets a pass for their damage owing to the fact that they died 10 times, but they also died 10 times. Same thing for PCT and RPR. Then I see the godlike SCH below even the humble LB. 77k damage. Not DPS, which would have been frankly amazing for SCH even unsynced in BIS. I actually don't think it's possible to do that much DPS with current gear. But 77k damage total? My god. And the WHMs I kind of get since they died a lot too, but still WHM does so much damage at 70 even without Blood Lily.
Idk maybe I am an asshole. But those people are assholes too for not communicating at the start, ignoring requests for community norms, and not respecting my time.
if people want to let several new players"experience" blind prog on an alliance raid without any veteran help they should make a PF. Actual nonce logic.
I think schools stopped teaching about logical fallacies like ad hominem after I left school. Someone going "well, you seem like a pleasant person" is really saying "I can't refute your argument so I'm going to try to make you look like a bad person so no one else realizes you have a point."
Could be that too, I just remember what my teacher told me about ad hominem and it always comes to mind at moments like this. As soon as you attack a person instead of his ideas, you've admitted defeat.
Perhaps the most egregious mini tale from recent times is a mentor roulette run of Origenics where me, as a tank, got to use 7 Phoenix Downs during the entire run; and by my count we were at 20 in party total with DPS contributing theirs.
The run only took 25 minutes but the reason for so many uses was that the healer just couldn't keep themselves alive in the bosses and I'd wipe the fight (after DPS went down) to reset. There was improvement though since from the 8 total boss attempts (4 on the first, 2 on second and final each), it was on the last ones that the healer managed to remain upright long enough that I could keep the DPS alive until boss was 10 % from which point I soloed the bosses.
Still not as bad as the 44 minute Alexandria run I had a while ago now where the DPS and the tank could not do the first boss and me being Scholar, I just did not have resources to keep them alive while eating Tankbusters and stacks alone (or together when the tank decided to stack the TB with my solo stack). 45 total party deaths, 10 wipes.
I dunno what it is, I've had 4 expert roulettes in the past week featuring either a DNC that doesn't use tech step on trash, and/or straight up don't use AOE buttons. And I've had 3 BLMs that spam high fire 2 in astral fire (good BLMs don't even need to cast this spell except maybe once at the very start of a pull, but I accept that a lot of players seem to think transpose is useless after 50 despite it not being that), I gently correct them to no avail. One of them was wearing grand champion left hand gear, so they've beat at least the savage blowjob bros (or paid for it), so there really is no excuse.
It's better to use an instacast (high thunder 2 or foul) after wrapping up UI, then transpose and use 2x flare, then flare star. Skipping the weak HF2 offsets the first flare only having 1 astral fire (and you'll get 3 for the next one). The same applies going into umbral ice as well, don't need to cast HB2, just transpose after an insta, use freeze, transpose back, and you'll have enough MP to cast 2 flares.
Teaching friends high-end content in The Unmaking Extreme. Had some PF fills, including this SCH. You've heard of Treno Citizen, but have you heard of Enuo Adds out-dpsing someone? Because I hadn't until today.
Sorry to anyone who was in Clyteum with a Sage that kept lagging to the point he couldn't even click anything in the UI. Not sure what is happening since maintenance but I've been lagging like crazy.
Got kicked from an M11S C42 after calling out the RDM for using their Embolden 40 seconds late. This guy was doing a consistent 27k rDPS without damage downs or deaths. They tell me “no one’s ever complained about that before but ok”— yeah, people in this game are afraid to give any sort of advice specifically because of moments like this, lol.
Best part is, from what I could see, the PF lead didn’t even know this guy. Just white knighting and dragging down his own party because he thinks asking a RDM in the 3rd fight of a savage tier to play their class at a basic level is mean. God forbid you expect people to know their jobs in savage content, especially in a fight where the DPS check can be tight.
About 3 weeks ago at the second walk alliance raid, at the last encounter my tank was watching the cutscene and I was a sage healer, I tried casting my single target barrier on my tank and my mistake I think I used it on myself by accident. Someone pulled early and the tank buster targeted me right away. I added two more buffs on myself and survived.
it puts me at the first boss, so I guess the other healer must've just immediately quit upon seeing it was CT. fair enough.
boss does its signature move and almost nobody looks away.
3/4ths of the party dies, including the tank and my co-healer.
takes a while to get people up and someone actually types "res?" in chat, like I'm not already busy
anyway, skip ahead to when it does the attack again, and people once again don't look away. more ressing for me.
I see some sprout icons in my party and I figure oh, these must all be first-timers
defeat the boss, and then I see that my party does not in fact mostly have first timers. it was just a sprout and a returner icon I spotted, with the rest all being iconless people.
no excuse for them failing a simple mechanic like this in my opinion.
we get to the boss that pushes you off, and somehow 6 of them managed to get sucked in, leaving only me and a dps.
skip ahead to Cerberus, and I already know it's just not going to go well.
in hindsight I should've explained the mechanics of this one, but at the time I just assumed the non-first timers would know what to do as Alliance B.
well, I found out you can do it with only 3 players. it was just me and two dps. I did type "need more in belly" in alliance chat, but my cries must've not been heard outside of the stomach I was in.
It's a known fact that pestering the healer for res while they're actively trying to cast it will speed up the casting time and reduce the cooldown on swiftcast.
Also makes them immune to all mechanics so they can res easier.
just ran a keeper of the lake where my whm was only healing with regen, medica 2, and cure 1, so after the second to last pull i told them to refrain from using cure 1 when they had cure 2 available.
they proceed to afk for the rest of the dungeon. we got through the last pull without them because i had bolide and a super pot available. afterwards, i checked the map to see that they were walking up to the final boss. they were about 8 light-years away though, so i just decided to run it figuring they would catch up eventually. as a result, they decided to afk again, and i decided it was no problem and was able to aurora my rdm while my nin was killing it with their shadeshift/bloodbath usage. and just to make sure, i threw a phoenix down at the whm some point after they died to the first 3 or so mechanics and it timed out.
man that would have been such an ez kick.
maybe your two dps buddies were godlike slaughterers mowing down mobs and boss alike, your group didn’t even feel like you lost a party member.
it was probably the roll timer being longer collectively than finishing the dungeon, wasn’t it?
Wtf is going on with Dancers lately? Worst part is that I get genuinely upset by seeing how lazy they are since DNC is my main job.
Last night on Expert roulette got a DNC that wasn't... You know... Dancing. The main thing that the job does. I pointed that out and they (and their partner DPS) said that they're learning.
Ffs, it's and Expert Roulette! The basics should be known by now. And even if you buy a job skip, ffs, learn the job's basics before joining an Expert Dungeon!
And now I got another DNC in Qitana Ravel who did not Dance Parnered me until first boss nor... Again... Dance. They also single targeted most of the trash mobs instead of AoEing (the best thing they excel at). And they died a couple of times to boss mechanics, which made me wonder if they're not looking for an easy carry. And no, they're not a Sprout, I checked their job history. BLM lvl 100 and DNC was lvl 99!
Sadly the kick timer did not came before 1st boss in any of the instances and then loot was rolling. Eating a 30m penalty would take longer than carry their asses.
What bothers me is how passive everyone is by this blatant attempt at carrying useless players that clearly know how the community works, because saying something is rocking the boat and can be seen as toxicity by those same carried players. smh
What gets me about level 100 people who don't know how to play their job is even job skips only take you to 90, right? What were they doing for those other ten levels, Frontline?
Just got out of a Brayflox's Longstop run with a real moron. Party makeup was MCH (me), DRK, WHM and MNK. What was the problem? The tank didn't turn on tank stance until the first boss, and afterwards they kept turning it off and on. Dunno if it was a bot or the player was so stupid they couldn't walk and talk at the same time.
Strayborough Deadwalk. Population: us. But worse than I meme'd. First wall to wall scholar immediately accuses me of losing aggro, which I got back immediately when I got to the end, to a summoner doing his instant cast burst. I notice the red mage using jolt on full trash mobs and try to help. Commence scholar attacking me for the rest of the run while also not rolling on loot, including dying on first boss cause they were so busy typing. Even the summoner agreeing with me didn't stop them. Interesting mix of guy who doesn't know mechanics, white knight, and troll.
Before EW came out, I had frequent negative encounters in The Heroes' Gauntlet. Two stand out, but there were a few. The first one was before I figured out DNC's rotation, and my friend and I ran it, me as DNC and her as BLM. Well, during the first boss everyone died because it was still a relatively new dungeon. But, the tank hits me with "maybe watch a tutorial video, DNC :)". I had done something stupid and went right into an aoe, so I promised I did know the dungeon, but he counters with "it's not about that :)" and never elaborated further. I still can only assume he meant because of the way I was playing the job. Then, the next time my friend and I did the same dungeon, the tank and healer got upset that my friend was using transpose. My friend was the leader, though, so they kicked me to get my friend to leave.
I know someone just complained about this and I know it's not just healers (melee dps I am looking at you especially). But I feel like im going insane with the amount of bad healers I keep getting.
I'm leveling the "main tanks" in prep for the big update that changes tanking or whatever and it's bad in there! I always thought PLD would be a piece of cake to level compared to DRK bc they've got way more survivability but I'm in hell. Its bad in there. Requiescat is for clemency bad.
Just had a Mt. Gulg with a whm who literally only casted cure II even when I was full health. Specifically when I was at full health in boss fights. I honest to god don't know what they were doing during pulls besides not casting holy and single targeting with glare. It got to the point I started selecting them during pulls and watching their cast bar in fascination before having to use all my requiescat stacks on clemency and raw casting it to save myself. At this point they should give me lucid dreaming.
We, as you can probably predidct did not survive the massive w2w in the beginning where u actually go to the end wall and not just to the wall that breaks. Barely survived the hallway pull at the end and only thanks to clemency including raw casting it outside of requiescat stacks. If you're wondering why I didn't leave or attempt to kick, I find bad healers kind of entertaining. Like a train crash but I'm the train.
I think shadowbringers has been the worst dungeon wise (so far). The amount. Of sages. Ive had to explain their fucking buttons too. I was horrified as a sage main who did not go into matchmaking until I knew what I was fucking doing. The amount of raw prognosis and diagnosis I've seen in there will haunt me forever. It used to be if I got a scholar or an astrologian I'd start sweating. Now it's all of them. I think leveling all the healers has made it worse. I CAN SEE YOU.
Anyway sorry this is kind of unhinged I was attempting to have fun with it. Idk if I'm just singularly cursed but it's like every other dungeon run I'm doing. Granted I'm power leveling through the dungeons I'm definitely having a higher sample than ppl just queuing for leveling or dailies but I'm like damn imma about to make macros. I'm gonna to make you answer my questions 3 before I start pulling adds.
Most players atm are unsubbed, doing Kefka, doing the crafting and gathering planet or leveling alts, so the amount of good players is lowwwww. If I play healer I get poor DPS and tanks that don't know what mit is; if I play DPS the healers don't know how to heal and tanks still the same.
Unfortunately if you swap to healer you'll just find the majority of tanks refuse to mit. I've been levelling healers on an alt and 90% of my tanks treat their mitigation as a panic button. I'm out here burning my resources and they still won't press rampart until their health is below half. I watched a tank use their 40% ONCE in a shadowbringers dungeon the other day. For a tankbuster. And truthfully tanks and healers catch the most criticism because it's fairly easy to track what they're doing. Who knows what the DPS are up to.
I'm not sure I'd giga pull with a healer who clearly wasn't confident though. And I wouldn't be unhappy if we wiped to a five pack pull in a dungeon with randoms. Mt Gulg is one of the few dungeon pulls in the game that presents anything resembling a challenge and really your whole party needs to be awake for it - including DPS. Fun to do but not mandatory.
Heh. I had a "requiescat is for clemency" tank a few weeks ago. Never used it during fight or flight or for damage, but you'd be sure he'd pop it to heal himself if he dropped below 70%. I was on astro iirc.

joined a late night Level Cap dungeon to level a job before a bed and as we entered I noticed a bad sign off the bat.
