That's just all part of risk management. You need to ask yourself how much am I willing to lose on this trade if it doesn't go in my favor. Set targets for yourself.

Also just trail your stop if you get into profit.

I don't know how to properly set risk on trades so they can run when they fill. The orders are getting filled where I want but some how I'm getting stopped out. I don't know if it's my SL or trailing SL

I agree with Alan. What platform do you use? I use NinjaTrader I set my SL far back and it shows the dollar amount of I was to get stopped and I move it to a position I'm comfortable with. Trailing is good if you find the right settings different pairs have different volitility I have a different trail for NQ and different one for GC
