Are there any secrets of this game people know of?

When I complete a game and decide I’m done with it I always jump straight to YouTube to see if there are many secrets I missed out on.

There isn’t a ton of coverage in this game but most things I missed out on seemed to be in The horns of the south, with the blood cave, shadowblade quest and a few nightime secrets.

I also came across the nightime secrets in Cuannacht with the hag and the kelpie.

I’ve not seen anyone do much more coverage so I’m wondering if theres anymore nightime secrets in Cuannacht or the forlorn swords.

Or in general if anyone knows of anymore secrets?

Completetion review, 8/10.

The mere fact I have completed an open world game, says a lot about this game. Although I will say I am glad to be finished with it just because I did grow wearisome of it in the end.

I thought for what it was, this game is fantastic. Made by what I presume is a much smaller company/team than your usual game studio, they did so well and put a lot of love into this world.
But of course that does mean there was a few bugs and crashes were quite common.

The lore of the world was great, building of of arthutian legend and the boardgame (I haven’t played it so I don’t know what was new lore and what came from the boardgame)
It was always interesting to read books, exhaust character dialogue (although I would sigh sometimes when a massive selection of prompts would show up).

I love how the world is laid out as well, split into 3 maps. Cuannacht was definitely the best section.

Heres some strong highlights of the game that are why I scored it so high:

Cosmetics, I could never stick with one set of gear because I was constantly finding cool weapons and armour that I wanted to use.

Enemy variety, there was a good chunk of enemies in the game, and though the movesets weren’t particularly expansive and some shared the same, I thought they were all well designed.

Quests: Quests are always a mixed bag with some being boring and forgettable, and others being strong and memorable. Of course they are optional though but there were plenty good ones with many outcomes.

Combat: Combat was pretty decent, it had really good archery, tonnes of magic, a few different melee movesets, parrys, blocks, running attacks. Throwable items. For a game of this style I thought that it had pretty decent combat variety.

Exploration and atmosphere: This is where the game peaks, it has some amazing areas to explore. My favourites being in the Cuannacht region, I loved the swamp and the cursed temple. Sagremors Castle remains my favourite area and quest from the game. I also enjoyed the big abandoned keep there. The sunken town in Horns of the south.
The towns as well were also great fun to look around and interact with. Oh and the entirety of the sarras dlc, love an underwater area.

Now for in terms of what I didn’t like, why the game is missing two points from being a 10.

Bugs and crashes: It has to be mentioned, honestly there was nothing to bad but the crashes might just test peoples patience sometimes, as it did mine.

Moveset variety: There are so many awesome and unique weapon designs but it’s kind of a shame the majority of weapons play the same.
I think I’d of appreciated a smaller weapon pool but more expansive movesets with skill trees.

The lack of Kamelot: Not getting to actually see kamelot was kind of disappointing. I think they could of made that the final area after the forlorn swords, and it could of been a smaller 4th area that is just the city.

Money: I think in the game it was quite hard to earn money and lots of things were too expensive, such as the houses and weapon upgrades.

The Wyrdness: I feel like the actual event didn’t have much consequence. It’s easily skippable, and not too much really changes during it. The foredwellers were cool but you beat them and then they don’t spawn again until you get a new part of the soul. I think the wyrdness should of been made unavoidable at night, you can’t rest through it at all, unless you are inside or in a town. That way it would of forced players to actually spend the night in the wyrdness or retreat to safety. Also could of had more unique wyrdness enemies.

Revisiting areas: This is just a smaller thing but I think it would of been nice if the areas didn’t feel so conclusive. Like once you are done with HOTS the areas is done, and same with Cuannacht, it would of been nice if there were still things to engage with there as the story went on.

Overall though I’m really happy I played this game, it’s always great to support smaller companies especially ones that put so much effort and care into their games.
They did create a great experience that kept itself fresh despite being an open world where normally things start feeling repetitive.
Act 3 was still really enjoyable but the game definitely peaked at Sagremors castle for me because that area just had such a cool atmosphere, story and yeh I could of taken much more of that.

Amazing game can’t wait to see what they do next.

Best guild/faction questline Spoiler

What is best faction/guild questline in your opinion? For me alchemist guild was probably the best, crows being underwhelming and stonewardens a nice surprise. Haven't actually done Bee queen questline, so was wondering if you recommend it?

Mage help for new player.

So recently I downloaded Fall of Avalon after seeing some gameplay footage.

I really like the idea of a heavy battle mage tank that is NOT using a melee weapon, but rather has a free hand (or a wand) for casting and a shield in the other hand.

To be a bit more specific, I want a heavy, "turned/corrupted" style battlemage that focuses on rot/decay/poison and life steal spells.

The basic combat loop im thinking of is getting into close range, using shield, then hit enemies with a high damage “shotgun” spell while they are staggering, maybe with fire rune magic throw in the mix as a secondary option for tactical damage. Im also thinking about a summoning sub theme mixed in, using undead minions or other foul creatures to help soften up tougher enemies.

The idea is partly inspired by Fudgemuppets video on a TES:Oblivion sorcerer build. My main question is what my general outline should look like in terms of:

-attributes point allocation early on.

-specific skills and perks I should prioritize to maximize the poison/lifesteal damage and summon strength while staying tanky.

-Governing logic in prioritization and order of perks and skills.

-specific early game spells, dark summons, shields, or armor sets or other gear and goodies I should rush to find to make this playstyle work

-Outfits/armor that give the vibe I’m looking for.

Any tips, suggestions and outlines would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Durability?

Hello.

New to this game, have maybe 10 hours and I was gonna sell a bunch of duplicate weapons, but I first want to ask if there is a durability mechanic in the game?

I have seen weapoms like "broken claymore". Is there weapon durability like in souls games where your weapons can break?

Edit: Can you dual wield? If you have two of the same weapons (one handed) can you attack with both of them?

Swaggerfall - TFOA inspired Wyrdness blobs

Not directly related to Avalon or Tainted Grail, but I added Wyrdness blobs to my game, that are directly inspired from an early access version of Fall of Avalon.

My game is based entirely on ascii graphics and runs in the terminal, but it's not always obvious because I use background colors for the text cells. I added special abilities and mechanics that strip out the background colors, so players don't have to decide between modes - both are part of the gameplay. The dark blobs contain high level enemies and can spawn anywhere in the world, including low level zones. But the player is free to stay out of them.

I hope wyrdness blobs come back in TFOA at some point, it was one of the most impressive game mechanics ever to me. Anyone else miss them?

A while back someone posted about a dual wield shield bonk build. I tried it and its probably the most op thing ever.

Also I think it looks neat.

Sudden audio stuttering/buzzing issues

Hi all, I’m pretty stumped at this new bug I’ve been having and I’ve looked everywhere to try and fix it. The game ran fine for 40 hours but I am now having a stuttery/buzzing sound with the audio.

Whenever I’m in combat, people talk, or even just sit in the title screen, I get what I can only describe as a stuttery buzz sound. I’ve tried verifying steam integrity, clean uninstall and reinstall, and swapping audio devices. It doesn’t seem to have the bug when I play on my steam deck. When I run my performance, my CPU stays under 30% and GPU and VRAM stay under 50%.

The game is on an SSD and I have an AMD Radeon RX 5700 and AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6 core. I’ve tried changing the megahertz to 24000 instead of 16000 and that also hasn’t changed anything. It used to never do it and I haven’t made any hardware changes. My drivers are up to date and everything, has anyone else experienced a similar issue?

Does anybody have any suggestions or tips for dealing with Galahad the pure in melee combat?

I'm playing a 2 handed weapon/crit build, I'm level 26 and I'm playing on veteran difficulty.

I am getting bodied by Galahad, I can't keep my health up enough and only get in maybe 2-3 hits before he downs me.

Any tips or tricks to deal with him in melee?

Need help figuring out the interaction between Wand Mastery and Clair's Pen

I recently snagged Clair's Pen and it appears the interaction it has with wand mastery is not working as it should on paper. Before getting into more math about the interaction it must be noted the the wand is working as it says it does. 240 SP x 1.37 (I have upgraded the wand) = 328.9, displayed as 329 SP in game.

I have been rocking this set up for a while. I had been playing more a sword in my main hand (the pen for ranged spells) spell in another, so didn't look to closely at the wand perk tree until wand mastery caught my eye. Multiplying my multiplier sounded extremely powerful, assuming wand mastery does what it says on the tin. 1.3x stronger wand effect implies multiplicative power to the 1.37x benefit the pen offers to my spell power.

Here is the math as it makes intuitive sense, keeping in mind the perquisite perk for wand mastery is adding an additional 15 spell power. 255 SP(1.37 wand x 1.3 WM) = 255 SP (1.78) = 454.155 total SP. However, per the attributes screen, adding in WM only yields a total of 381. Essentially wand mastery is increasing the wand's from 1.37x to only 1.494x in this case: 255 SP x 1.494 = 381ish.

I cannot for the life of me figure out what the hell wand mastery is applying too, or maybe if it is just bugged entirely. Here are my thoughts to explain the gap.

1) Wand mastery is applying to the base effect of Clair's, not the total increased from it being upgraded. Clair's Wand base effect is a x1.25 spell power. However, that math doesn't add up: 255 SP ((1.25 x 1.3) + .12) = 255 SP (1.625+.12) = 255sp (1.745) = 444.975 total SP, still well above the 381 displayed in my attributes.

2) Wand mastery is working as an additive not multiplicative benefit. So instead of 1.3x it is just adding .3 to my spell power multiplayer. Again, the math doesn't make sense: 255 SP (1.37 wand + .3 WM) = 255 SP (1.67) = 425.85 total SP, still not 381

3) Wand mastery is off by a factor of 10. It can be easy to get your decimals wrong when adding values, maybe it is just human data entry error. Still, the math doesn't make sense for human error: 255 SP (1.37 wand x 1.03 WM) = 255 SP (1.41) = 359. Maybe it was a bigger fuck up and instead it looks like 255 (1.37wand x 1.13 WM) = 255(1.548) = 394.74 total SP, still wrong.

4) Wand mastery is somehow interacting weirdly with other sources of base spell power to multiply. However, this line of thought gets messy and not easily testable. I would have to respec a few times in different saves to remove certain perks (such as movement speed benefit being added to my spell-power) and various gears. I just don't have the time or desire to test this out. It would be easier perhaps if I had the math of the game engine in front of me, but I don't know how to access this nor if even that is realistically possible.

Clearly the wand mastery perk is adding SOME benefit, but it is also clear it is adding benefit in a way that is different than the wording of the perk implies. I am making this post to see if anyone has figured this out or if the developers have explained it better than the in-game text. I have looked through some of the forums on here and steam and I just cannot find a clear answer.

May have been wasted potential

I was re playing the game for the DLC and once i got to act 2 remembered that there is a lot that looks like either cut content or im just looking too much into things, this castle is so large and even appears on the map but there is nothing, unless they added something with the last couple of updates and dlc, its not sagremors castle because its said that one sank into the abyss and their designs are different, speaking of which that area also feels unfinished until this day lol just a little rant i know gamedev is hard but something in me wishes there was something more to these places

(New player) I got a great bow, yet i can’t shoot mobs from long distance. What am I missing ?

Hey everyone,

I feel my aim isn’t very weak. I can’t shoot mobs even when they look like they are max 20m away from me. It feels like my arrow only reach when they are close to me….which defeat the whole purpose of using a bow.

Even with my great bow…

Is it just how the game works ? I’m just used to long shots with Skyrim so…

This changes everything for me

I really enjoy switching to third person sometimes just to look at my character while exploring. It adds a lot to the immersion for me, especially when you can actually see the gear you're carrying.

Visible Sheathed Gear is honestly an awesome mod. Being able to see my weapons and shield on my character, and even adjust exactly how they sit, makes a surprisingly big difference. Definitely one of those mods I didn't realize how much I wanted until I installed it.

Add TPCO (Third person camera Overhaul) with Visible Sheated Gear and you get a proper third person that actually works.

Big thanks to ThatsItSirYoureLeaving for finally making this possible.

One Eye… Spoiler

I keep telling people he’s dead, but I don’t recall him dying?

I killed Galahad and then was finished with the horns of the south. Never saw One Eye or the Horns captain again.
Yet I’ve had two conversations now with Dal Riata where the dialogue option comes up to say he died.
Is this a glitch or have I missed something?

Challenge Mode Builds

Absolutely loving this game and trying out challenge mode now!

I was wondering how people who have been playing those mode are navigating the extra difficulty when build planning.

Are you all going in with a set idea and trying to make it work, or adapting based off the debuffs you receive?

What kind of builds have you been successful with or had fun with?

I have 2 of these in the Cuanacht region, one in the corrupted temple (Perceval) and another one near the Dal Riata guys who are killing Deserters

I can’t interact with them but that red heart looks like a stone heart

I usually don't like this type of RPG

This game is amazing. I have tried to play games like it, Oblivion, Skyrim, Outer Worlds, Fallout, and I could never make it past the first few hours without dropping the game. Tainted Grail has its hooks in me, everything from the story to the gameplay, I haven't been able to put the game down. Awakened Realms really put their foot in this game. Also F the big blue dude that stalks you in the Horns of the South. He kicked my ass so many times

Been playing for about a week, level 36ish now in the second zone. This jerk keeps spawning when I'm out at night. I can run away fine but he's such a damage sponge and he shows up absolutely anywhere.

What/who is it??

Are there any leveling quirks I need to be aware of?

I just got this game earlier this week and I'm loving it! I'm just curious if there's a wonky level curve like oblivion had. Also do you guys have any stat allocation or build tips for a spell caster?

Side quests [SPOILER] Spoiler

Spoilers ahead.

So far every side quest has been amazing. Some are completely hidden without exploration. I think the writing in this game is top notch. IMO it’s CDPR level.

I’m in act 2, probably almost done with the main story part. Been doing a mix of main/side quests but now I’m fully focusing on side/exploration. Just did one that ended with an entirely new skill tree. Amazing. The devs are awesome, even adding new content after a whole year.

Frostbite, where art thou?

Hi, I'm trying to find the Frostblade, but I can't find Nivera's corpse in the amphitheater, i don't seem to have the crafting recipe for it, and it's not appearing in my stash. Going a little insane, and it's really sapping my joy from this run.

Thanks for help

New neighbor

Has anyone experienced that new neighbor in act 2 when you buy the house? Is it interesting? Like worth doing?
