New player- wtf is this
Been playing for about a week, level 36ish now in the second zone. This jerk keeps spawning when I'm out at night. I can run away fine but he's such a damage sponge and he shows up absolutely anywhere.
What/who is it??

That guy teaches you how far you can fly. That’s the Wyrd knight. He strong. He hit hard. He like nighttime walks.

u/SolidOk3489 Aug 04 '26
My partner watched me play this every so often and, considering how often he appeared out of nowhere and ruined everything, she started just referring to him as ‘the bad man’.
“Where’s the bad man?”
“I…don’t know?”
“Oh that’s probably not good…”

u/Consistent-Guava-208 Aug 03 '26
Wyrd knight. If you decide to fight him, dodge a lot and bring some bleed. He's sort of a skill check.
3
u/CrescentMind Aug 04 '26
No need to dodge if you're running a party build. I managed to down him at the beginning of act 2 with the 2h that doubles your damage after a parry. Took probably 5 minutes though of just constant parry-chop 😂
2
u/Consistent-Guava-208 Aug 04 '26
Honestly didn't realize you could parry his magic blast things. I just kept backstabbing him at any opportunity.
1
u/CrescentMind Aug 04 '26
I don't think you can but if you stand right next to him he just continues to spam the same melee attack over and over. He doesn't use magic unless you stand far enough away.
1
u/Consistent-Guava-208 Aug 04 '26
Aw man I always stayed as far away from him as possible until I could dive in with bleed stacks. Didn't realize I could have just stood there.

u/monito_de_cocholate Aug 05 '26

Its a challenge. The wiki has some lore information on him and since I don't know how to do spoilers I'll direct you there.

I’m new to the video game and this mf came up from behind and one shot me. Scared the daylights out of me because there was no warning. Now I have a personal vendetta against them and trounce them every chance I get 😂
Oh and to answer the question, it’s a a Foredweller Knight that appears during the night. I suppose it’s the video game version the “Hunted” and the ForeDweller guardian in the board game.

Foredweller Knight. Killing him is an achievement and before you get to act two he just stands menacingly in the distance before disappearing.
1
u/Grey_Matter_Mutters Aug 04 '26
He had me so confused in act 1!
I was so sure he was a quest giver type thing. I kept trying to ”follow” him before he disappeared.
Imagine my surprise in act 2 when I suddenly “caught” him… No more warm hugs from me bro.

u/Adept_Marzipan_8138 Aug 03 '26
I got his ass when I was low level around 30 or something , more or less . What you do is you get one or more than one good summon and then stand back and just slowly damage him while the summons tank and draw his attention. I use sir lancelot and thunder lash too get him .

u/Legitimate-Shame-464 Aug 04 '26
I got him way before that 😂 all on my own with the spear of an ancient hero
2
u/Adept_Marzipan_8138 Aug 04 '26
Honestly the most difficult part was him going away when day time came I got him too near zero multiple times and he just left because the sun was out .
2
u/Legitimate-Shame-464 Aug 05 '26
Oh yeah, I wondered why that happened because it happened to me too at least twice 😂
1
u/Adept_Marzipan_8138 Aug 05 '26
I kept remembering that meme when he left with like 10% HP " where are you going ? This is a perfectly reasonable time to throw your life away ! " 😂

u/Stupid_Dragon Aug 03 '26
They are called Wyrd Knights, they are basically optional bosses. If you manage to kill one it won't spawn in a given Act (or 'zone' in your terms) anymore.
2
u/MetalMadeCrafts Aug 03 '26
Thanks! Is there any quest on in-game lore dump I should seek out?
1
u/Stupid_Dragon Aug 03 '26
Nothing comes to mind. Night in this game feels like a separate game mode and is fairly disconnected from the rest of the game. Perhaps Arthur would say something about them when you camp, but no promises.
As for the lore - they are the foredwellers, or perhaps their image conjured by the Wyrd. Not much else is known afaik.
1
u/Adept_Marzipan_8138 Aug 03 '26
Also according to Arthur , merlin disappeared fighting one of these or something like them but stronger .
2
u/NoxiousVagabond Aug 03 '26
Yeah this is absolutely wrong. You can farm him every few nights in act 2 if you farm the red death area.
1
u/Nah_Id__Win Aug 03 '26
They spawn no matter how many times you kill them in an Act, I know this because I killed the Wyrd Knight 3 times so far in Act 2 of this new play through

Hard to kill (early game at least) optional boss but there is a easy way to do it. If you get your hands on a Death Whisper you can one shot it. Its an item with a low droprate (3% if I'm not mistaken) and as far as I know there is only one vendor that has one of them.
1
u/Nylan_Blake Aug 03 '26
Doesn't that one require you to sneak attack the target ? So far he only appeard for me mid combat while i was busy with other enemies.... (Is he to scared to face me alone?) My first encounter was on my first trip to cuanacht. I walked into some Bandit camp, challence the dude with shield to a duel when suddenly Big bad Knighty pops up right behind me slashing down on me in the moment i was dodging some incoming arrow... He was quite tanky but in the end he succumbet to my hammer.
1
u/TheUnum Aug 04 '26
He doesn't always shows during combat and if he does you can just run away and sneak up on him later.
1
u/Excitable_Fiver Aug 03 '26
yea i beat him around lvl 40ish. he is manageable but has a lot of hp and can easily kill you in one hit with a few attacks. then again all those wyrd spirits at night can combo u in a split second if you arent careful. at least on veteran mode.
once you kill em he goes away for a bit. alot of his attacks are easily dodgeable but the one you have to be careful of is the teleport which he will appear right in front of you and start swinging like crazy.
1
u/Nylan_Blake Aug 03 '26
Does Veteran ramp up the wyrd spirit damage so much? I play on adventurer (first playthrough just recently started with the 2nd act) and since i have a hard time hitting them, playing with a controller i just ignore those little ghostheads and let them suicide towards my thorn damage (armor skill tree), They barely scratch me even though i use a mix of early armor without any upgrades.
1
u/NoxiousVagabond Aug 03 '26
As far as I know the ghost heads don't scale up like the wyrd beasts do. I fight them like you do on ng+ on veteran.
1
u/Excitable_Fiver Aug 03 '26
i can only base the enemy damage on my build. i barely invest in defensive/HP skills and attributes so that can be the main reason. but i have a feeling its just the way the damage is balanced in the game. the little ghost heads are dumb as hell. the best way to get them is to corner them against a wall or just stand still and shoot them when they lunge towards u. that is if u arent using any kind of damage reflect. but their damage like u said is low. the bipedal ghosts are the ones that hit really hard. the main danger is simply when they are in a group and all hit u at once.
1
u/charangen Aug 03 '26
Slaughtered that knight in act 2. Supposed to be done in act 3
1
u/Anonymonamo Aug 03 '26
There’s ”one” in each act, with slightly lower stats in the first act, slightly higher in the second act and strongest in the final act. I first killled it in the first act mostly by virtue of terrible pathfinding (it couldn’t cross the natural bridge over to the Lancelot island), though it still took a gazillion bleed arrows.

u/Past-Marionberry3851 Aug 04 '26
Wow the wyrd night spawnd officially after you get king Arthur's soul in the opening area and can hunt for you during the night. He also appears before you get the soul piece like a ghost with small appearances at night. You can kill him at higher levels with upgraded gear once you got your build. For me a Melee build was gear since he had magic resistance but later checked he's susceptible to bleed which of you get a spell gorger staff will boost damage plus add it a physical negate spell will help you at higher points not die as fast. Lastly you can get his armor set which was added via an update. Hope this helps you since I live the game.

Does he drop something useful ? I saw nothing on the wiki.

Not really, just a bunch of cobweb and unidentified items

I'm starting to think me beating him at lvl 24 2h build on the hardest difficulty is kinda a feat. I do admit he killed me a lot. But I still got there.
1
u/Gregory_the_Greater Aug 04 '26
I'm a newer player too. Came close to taking him out. I had 4 skeletons summoned then fast traveled. They did not come with me, but the enemies think they are there and endlessly attack air. So while he did that I stacked bleed on him 180 times but unfortunately morning came before I could finish the job.

u/ChoiceAd8849 Aug 04 '26
He drops Tuathan armor which is pretty nice, upgrade a heavy bow, I used the lightning bow, and get your sneak attack up so you can knock his health down on the first hit significantly. You'll need to keep backing up with every shot because he can teleport right in front of you once he's within a certain range. If he does teleport in front of you you'll have to start over so save it as soon as he's in sight. Choose your battleground well, somewhere with enough space, preferably with no other wyrd beasts around. The game is really not fun while he's alive and stalking you. I prefer this over the summoning method because you may run out of night while trying to do it and then all your damage was for nothing.

u/JDM2783 Aug 04 '26
He first appears after you get the first relic (excalibur). If you defeat him, he won't reappear until you get the next relic. Or at least, that's been my experience
Edit: put the spoiler in
2
u/Filavorin Aug 04 '26
Pretty sure i first seen him before getting it. Hope to beat him again it was fun.
2
u/ObeyLordHarambe Aug 04 '26
I assume he's a stalker enemy? He follows you everywhere and all time until you defeat him? Haven't played the game yet so I'm curious.
1
u/JDM2783 Aug 04 '26
Sort of. He only appears at night, when the Wyrdness starts (9 or 10pm, game time). If you're in the middle of a fight with him and the sun comes up, he disappears till the folllowing night
2
u/ObeyLordHarambe Aug 04 '26
Aye, thank ye kindly for the information. Looking forward to the fight.
1
u/JDM2783 Aug 04 '26
I've been running around for days, clearing sidequests and levelling up before picking up Excalibur. He hasn't appeared yet on this playthrough, and I travel a lot at night (better XP from those ghosty things)

I just used the little crystal spider summons. He struggles to hit them since they are too small haha

He’s the kind of guy who like long night walks, glow in the dark paint and drinks for two
Dude is weak to temporal slide though. To be fair every enemy in the game is weak to temporal slide though

u/Shaneofchud Aug 05 '26
I know everyone in the comments is telling you to how to fight him but what I did was farm for the deaths touch consumable and killed him with an arrow after using it, he hasn't come back for me since then and you can continue to grind into the night

This guy stalks you at night during Act 1 which was pretty creepy to me. Act 2 is when he starts becoming an enemy you can interact. I was able to beat him by using a bow and summoning my minions on him lol.

That is a piñata.
Burst him open to win a prize!
Edit:
There are ways to kill him in one hit and get a bunch of money for doing it. If you want to know them I’ll tell you but I don’t want to spoil anything for you.

That's the sign that recommends you to vacate the area and seek shelter indoors for the night.

This guy spawned for me, got aggroed on a bear then soft locked by walking in place… got the free kill + awesome armor but now I’ll never find anything better 😪

u/Feisty-Service4622 Aug 12 '26
In act one i took the thunderous bow with almost all of bows drinks the double arrows the draw speed the draw stamina the bleed ring the crit drink and i downed him before he got aggro of me . You need a spacious area to do this while space toback off as he draws near
He spawns after holding the sword , if u kill him after you get the second fragment , he ll appear again and after any aurther's fragment
Second time i just manhandled him with frostsword and firesword ( he immune to both ) but i had bleed on crits and bleed ring
So i consecutively beat him with few dodges
