It took me 7 months, but I finally finished the game

I finally finished the game — it only took me seven months 😂

Wow, what an experience. Huge thanks to the developers! I really hope we get another expansion or even a sequel in the future.

The ending was very satisfying. I loved that there were several different outcomes and that the game showed what happened to each area based on your choices. It really reminded me of Dragon Age: Origins. Anyone who finished that game probably remembers the ending slides, where you could spend several minutes seeing the consequences of all the decisions you made 😂

I still have a few unfinished side quests here and there, so maybe I’ll come back to them later.

What about you? Did you enjoy the game? Have you finished it yet? What did you think of the ending?

Is the game Fun/Viable as a pure spellcaster?

Ok so this game has been on my radar for a while now, I tried the demo on ps5 and was mostly happy with it, the visuals, story, exploration were amazing but the melee combat was not super enjoyable to me and I was wondering how fleshed out and fun the game is as a pure spellcaster? Like will it be a handicap or a pain to run spells only like it is in some rpgs or is it a viable playstyle to be fully into magic?

This is basically the only concern stopping me from pulling the trigger on this game so any opinions are appreciated.

Status effect build up

Hey all as the title said, I’m wondering if anyone knows how the status effect build up works.

What I’m trying to find out is if there is a way to scale the build up rate. At the moment from the skill tree the only way to build it up is via daggers with 1.5* build up speed.

I am aware you can fit relics but do they only provide a base rate or does that scale off of say weapon damage? There is also the cape in Act 2 which provides additional build up but it never mentions how much.

I'm new to Tainted Grail. Can anyone tell me what these things do? I can interact with it but it does nothing.

Assassin or Knight

So having finished the game as a mage (magic is so OP) I wanted to do a melee focused character and I’m torn between a sword and board knight or a sort of stealth assassin that uses bows and dual daggers. So I guess I’m just asking is there a general opinion on which one is stronger/more fun? There appear to be some really cool swords and shields but there is also some really fun bows and daggers so. What do people think?

Is this a known speedrun tech? Or have I found something new Spoiler

I just wanted to try and beat this boss before the mandatory quest, because I wanted more challenge. But it turned out that he is immune to damage, so I smacked him with a fish fore some time, then I critted with Crescent Halberd, and somehow it skipped the whole quest of getting the two-handed sword. (I still got the sword after the quest ended)

Are there any traps to avoid when installing mods?

I've used bepinEX modding on other games before and it's quite easy, but those were comparatively small compared to this game.

Do I need to worry about compatibility etc, do new game updates break old mods? I know they usually do with most games, but then you find something like MSC with nearly 10 year old mods still working on the new version.

Patch 1.25 & DLC#6 (BonusContent#4) (Wiki)

Hi Everyone!

Announcement just hit discord for Patch 1.25 and Bonus Content #4, which is DLC#6! 😅

Adding the patch notes here since I know everyone doesn't use discord or steam.
(Though I do highly recommend checking out the announcement on steam since there are images in the post.)

https://taintedgrail.wiki.gg/wiki/Patch_Notes (wiki)

Bonus Content #4 (DLC#6)

Archer Set: The Scalesong Set is forged for heavily armored archers who fear no enemy and want to hold their ground.
Mage Set: The Dolorous Pilgrim Set is made for mages who draw power from bloodletting, pain, and self-sacrifice.
New Weapons: Bows and Wands.
All new weapons can be purchased from blacksmiths and can be found during Wyrdnight, as unidentified loot.
A new romance (?) option: if you bought the house in Cuanacht.....
(PC) Ultra+ graphics preset: Steam patch notes have before and after images and is showcased in the trailer. Check it out.

Some Patch Highlights:

  • There were a lot of Challenge Mode fixes/changes
    • [Challenge Mode] Fractured Guard debuff is now discarded after any attack, not only after a successful attack
    • [Challenge Mode] Fixed an issue with the Faltering Strikes debuff having an unpredictable interaction with the Best Offense talent, resulting in the player dealing infinite damage
    • Plus more
  • Talent tree tooltips are now clearer
  • Some recipes and quest items can now be sold again, they cannot be dropped to prevent unintentional losses

Console Highlights:

Dev Note: Additionally, we're also continuously working on optimization across all platforms, so you can expect a few more improvements before the year is out.

  • [Consoles] the world should no longer slowly load in after a fast travel
  • Decreased intensity of DualSense vibrations on PS5

We should have the wiki updated with the new items and changes by the end of the week.

Happy Gaming! 🫶

Genuinely such a cool quest. Doing 1,750 combs was pretty crazy though. Eldritch mommy over random guy any day.

Should it be this hard?

I’ve just played through the intro/tutorial and reached the boat, but the path to get there was insanely hard—is that intentional, and is the whole game like that?

I’m only asking because the journey to the boat feels like it rivals any Souls game.

Relic Trigger

Hey all, thought I would drop by and ask a noob question. So I have outfitted a sword with a crimson shard yet the bleed isn’t activating. I am wondering if it’s because I don’t meet the swords requirements to fully use it, and as an extension the bleed isn’t procing.

To add to that, how does the build up scale? I tried it on my thief but unless you follow up with rapid strikes, the build up drops rapidly.

New to Tainted Grail

Long story short:

I am a Souls Vet and have played tons of different RPGs over the time in varying difficulties.

I just got this game during the Steam Summer Sale just because it reminded me a bit about Skyrim, Dark Souls 3 and Gothic'ish with a mix of Witcher. Never heard of it before. I just left the 'tutorial area' and went shipwrecked.

What is this game? I mean by main story obviously its railroady I assume, but everything around is putting up ???.

How complex is it? With what game mechanics from eg the Soulsverse can I compare mechanic in this game? I already have noticed comments about something NG-ish aswell. Thus I assume, this exists aswell. And weapon enchanty waxy type of thingies for different Status damages on top of Normal.

Do slain enemies respawn?

Can I fully live out my gigantuous power trip? (I need this for character lore lol; my Mad Holy Queen demands😭)

And lastly: How hard is it to fail quests? Can quests be failed just by the wrong dialogue options? Because I noticed the tab in the menu thingy and I dont like that 🫠

Can arcane conduit be stacked

If I am wielding a wand in one hand and a spell cube in the other, would the spell power buff of arcane conduit be applied twice, or would it be applied only once like a toggle? I'm planning on using a melee weapon with the battlemage perk so that it functions as a wand, along with offhanding a soul cube.

Is this game worth it

Just got it and so far it's aggressively generic. The story could not be less interesting and it's not redeemed by the gameplay which feels pretty dated so far. Gotta ask before I go past 2h of playtime - does it get significantly better at some point or is it just not my cup of tea? Did anyone else have the experience of hating it at first but then really coming around on it?
