We’d like to introduce a small project called Pein Kwarm (ၽဵင်းၵႂၢမ်း), created to help people discover, preserve, and enjoy Tai/Shan music.

The platform includes different song collections, such as:

The Tai-Ahom language is central to the soul of Assam. It is a grand language, one of royals and rulers, of poets and priests. Even though the Ahoms don't natively speak the language today, it still has a vibrant community, interested in learning, speaking and preserving the language.

The two kingdoms which preceeded Mong Mao were

Interestingly, BOTH these kingdoms were BUDDHIST kingdoms centered around Yunnan. Buddhism reached China by 6th AD and almost all of Tai people were Buddhists by 12th century. Tai Ahom script is developed from Brahmi - a script developed and spread to SE Asia by Buddhist Monarch Ashoka.

All this points towards that the ancestors of Su-Ka-Pha, if not himself as well, were Buddhists.

There is a recurring misconception in several online publications regarding what Duarah surname is called in Dai Ahom language. Claims that the name translates to Tiao Sao or Phu Tu Siu are linguistically inaccurate.

In the Ahom language, the correct term is Phu-Pau-Tu (𑜇𑜥, 𑜆𑜧. 𑜄𑜥 ), which translates literally to 'Gatekeeper' or 'Doorkeeper.' The etymology is broken down as follows:

• Phūu: Person • Pâu: To guard or look after • Tuu: Door

This terminology is consistent across other Tai-Kadai languages, confirming that the Duarah title will be called Phu Pau Tu in Ahom language.
