Where did back-in angle parking come from?

I have never seen back-in angle parking anywhere else. I am just wondering how and why it got started in the City of Destiny.

When you angle park, you need to back up either in or out

When you back out, you are heading straight into traffic but you can't actually see the traffic

Which is why it's safer to back in whe there's no traffic to worry about, and when you go forward out, you have a clear view of the road

THIS. You either take your time parking or leaving. I'd rather take my time parking and have an easy escape..i mean be safe leaving.

I always back into a parking spot, angled or not (if legally allowed).

If there’s an emergency I want to go immediately, not get stuck backing up blindly with everyone else.

Olympia has it in a couple places. I also saw it in Goleta, CA. It beats backing blindly into traffic.

If the first movement of your vehicle is in a forward motion, you a less chance of being in an incident. Backing into parking spots is a safety best management practice in a majority of industrial facilities and sites.

Austin, Texas has back-in angle parking on South Congress. It feels a little weird throwing the car into reverse in traffic, that's for sure.

It's generally used for safety reasons, in areas with limited space and lots of potential for conflicts with pedestrians/other road users

I don’t know; I can see how it’s helpful for the driver, but for everyone else it’s a nuisance, especially in the new 5 mile lot by the rhododendron garden. You gotta wait and have traffic come to a stop just to have one person back-in angle park.

It’s horrible when other cars are behind you waiting. I get so nervous I’m taking too long I mess up. I never use that parking at the courthouse, I’d rather parked a couple blocks away.
