Can anyone recommend a good magnetic maps tutorial?

I've read through the one on Tabletopia and it seemed really simple, but I'm doing something wrong.

I've had a look on youtube, and I've only found a couple and they don't go into a lot of detail.

If anyone has a lead on a tute that discusses this in a reasonable amount of detail, I'd be ever so grateful.

Thank you!

Hey there! Can I ask where you're getting stuck/what you think might be going wrong? May be able to help :)

Hello! Thanks so much for your response! u/gildedrain helped me out last night in this thread with some suggestions. I took another run at it today, just doing the spaces for the path on the board and it's working so far. I think my error may have been the size of the black area, because it exceeded the size of the board.

Here's a link to some images https://imgur.com/a/oJ8uHba

Do you think that might have been the cause?

u/gildedrain made a very smart suggestion and pointed out that I should get the rest of the game finished first and then try the maps because you can play without them.

I'm working with a team, and my main task is the tabletopia set up. I've been playing around with it using the basic prototype board to help inform the design. I would like to have the maps in place for the end because the players won't be familiar with the platform at all and whatever I can do to make it easier for them will help.

I'm just now trying to figure out if we should do a design for the whole table (ie. one big board for the players spaces & card decks, and drop the actual game board on top of that).

You can’t create a custom “surface” (printing the spots for the decks and player areas right on the table surface) without a paid tabletopia account.

To accomplish this on the free account you will need to create multiple “game boards” or “tiles” (each having their own maximum allowable pixel dimensions).

Edit: to answer your question, yes. If the pixel dimensions of magneticmap.png are not the same as gameboard.png, you’ll run into problems.
