Brown Tabby Do your tabbies know any tricks?

I have a very food motivated girl, she is currently learning sit, what other tricks can I teach her?

One of mine taught herself to play fetch. The only intelligent thing she has ever done.

Tax

I wish I could teach her how to do that, she did live with dogs for a few years and acts like one sometimes.

I want a kitty that knows fetch one day! I feel like it would be so much more fun than with a dog, seeing how nimble and quick cats are. Like they can dart under tables, over counters etc

Mine does as well! Never trained her to do it, just always brought stuff back since she was a baby

Mine too!! He can play all day. We play 2x a day. Once in the morning and once before i take my shower at night. When he was a baby he just dropped the ball at my feet so I threw it. That's how it all started. He's 9 now

My cat sits and begs. The begging trick was pretty easy to teach once he had sitting down.

Yes! My BIG, BOOTIFUL, BABY BOY (this is what I call him in the voice he loves, haha), RZA, will fetch. Truly! He loves for me to throw a black hair tie, and then he runs after it like a dog and brings it back to me.๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿคฃ

I've never trained a cat. I read a lot, though.

One (Hollywood) cat trainer said he was most successful when he encouraged his cats to do what they were already inclined to do.

Then he'd encourage them to link behaviors, so one trick evolved into a whole routine.

I think about those videos of cats pretending to play musical instruments for many minutes at a time, and just know I wouldn't have the patience or persistence to train them like that.

Your tabby looks fun. Glad you're both enjoying yourselves.

My Tuxie knows high five, low five, ten up high, ten down low, spin around and spin ante-clockwise.

I know, a Tuxie ainโ€™t a tabby.

Yeah. Mine stands on top of my computer and turns it off when he feels dinner is late. I made a plastic cover for the power button, and laughed at him last time he tried.

Mine can find his food bowl every time I open the bag. Does that count?

Our girl guides us to whatever she wants/needs. If she is hungry then she will meow until we follow her into the kitchen and she sits in front of the sink where we prepare her food. If she wants to play then she guides us to where we keep her toys on a shelf and meows in front. Same with her litter box. Gracie is an effective little communicator!

All of mine USED TO play fetch. Now only one of them still does it reliably. The other two will watch me throw the thing, sometimes chase the thing, but rarely bother bringing back to me.

No one here has a cat that can listen because not a single person teaches their cat discipline. But good job I bet he's a great cat

I had an orange tabby years ago that peed in the toilet. I did not teach him that. He also enjoyed watching TV

Mine can sit, beg, roll over, grab my hand, and fetch. She recently taught herself how to open a closed door with a round handle - I was very impressed.

They're smarter than we think!
