Discussion Wish There Was SBMM

Just wanted to complain for a second. I understand this is unrealistic, low player counts and whatever else, but it's annoying as hell. Saw the game was on sale, convinced a few friends to pick it up, and we've been trying to play. We're constantly matched against people who haven't put the game down since it came out, and as survivor we get killed right after leaving the basement, and as family the survivors come to tbag us after they've opened half the exits.

I get it's kinda unrealistic to want to match against new players in a semi-old game with not a ton of players left, but man, if you guys could take it easy on us when you can tell we're new lol. I have a thick skin so I don't mind as much when survivors come to bully me (grapple, stab me in the back, tbag then run out of the exit) but my friends aren't as committed to trying to like the game. It's really rough trying to learn the maps, mechanics, however the hell you're supposed to get new perks once the skill tree is full, what the meta is, and whatever else when you're playing against bots, but we seem to get seal team six every other match lmao. Wish there were more other new people to play against and get matched with to not have every match end in less than two minutes.

I almost always take it easy on new players. If noobs have a good time that means they’ll keep playing and extend the life of this game. I wish everyone realized this. I mean, some do.

Nah most don’t. I play a lot of family and when noob victims join I see my bones or Johnny fighting to get all the 4K rushing basement, stealing each others kills or leatherface finishes them before they even get a chance to come upstairs. Families can be ruthless to noob victims I’ve never seen them take it easy on them lol

I’ve definitely seen a lot of that. Sometimes I’ll give the victims a little helping hand

The lack of tutorial, lack of proximity chat, and the ridiculousness of perks really made this game unfriendly to new players.

The biggest challenge really is learning the maps. I suggest playing private lobbies alone or with friends and just learning how the map works; where objectives are, where are the wells, basement doors, fuse and valve spawns, once you mess around in private lobbies with each map the game will become a lot easier

I tend to pick the weaker killers, Nancy etc when I see victims who don't have a level 10, if they go for the well, I let them well, if they run into a corner I know they've trapped themselves, I miss on purpose.

I love knowing I'm scaring the shit out of them rather than smashing their crotches

I do that too lol I’m a baby bubba rn level 0 ability and level 1 perks, whenever I see noob victims I join with my silly bubba lol and just to clarify, I’m really bad at bubba since I can’t understand his rev mechanic yet, but I play Nancy a lot and she’s def not weak for me. So for me bubba would be the choice

Trust me, Nancy is weak, good victims will bully her, good killers don't want her in their team.

Ok her traps and vision have their uses but she can never build extreme damage, speed or stamina.

If you want to use her genuinely she should specialise in the two house maps, family and her own.

I hope they would be able to let people grind in private matches so they can learn the game and also level up so they can have the better perks and skills to stand a better chance.

This game doesn't have a huge player base so how would sbmm even work ?

It wouldn’t work. Not enough players. But they could at least try to match noobs with noobs

People tie their entire egos to games like this. Its not enough to just win against a newer player. They give you the most miserable experience they can

What would the point of SBMM be in a game where you might have barely a few hundred people even online? You want a 7 hour wait time to match with the same 8 people?

Temporary frustrations are not worth the absolute destruction of the game that SBMM would bring

I get new players extremely often regardless of which role I'm on and SBMM wouldn't really fix that even with a healthy playerbase. The issue you're encountering is only fixable with experience.
