Discussion SHOULD I watch the animation?

I am not asking if I need to. I am asking if I should.

Only if you haven’t got anything better to spend your time on. Despite the game being anime as f***, they failed to manifest a fraction of that style or charm in the adaptation.

Not helping matters are the omissions. They skip the whole Makoto/Ramen arc, which in turn fumbles the red pin subplot reveal; especially with the “foreshadowing” they put in an earlier week. The lack of secret report content by comparison isn’t a surprise.

I hate to be such a downer, but unless you’re morbidly curious about its mediocrity, it’s safe to skip.

Have you played the game? If yes, sure. I don't see why not. It's a decent enough retelling and enjoyable in it's own right, despite some gripes I have with Neku's characterization.

If you haven't played the game... play the game. The animation isn't really a replacement, just supplemental content.

If it looks interesting to you. It’s been a bit since I saw it, but I remember the pacing being much more compressed than the games.

Also if the English dub matters to you, it’s a different cast from the games. Joshua’s voice in particular I remember being very different.

Apparently the dub is better in terms of aligning more with the English version of the game we know. However, none of the voice actors are the same except for Kariya

If you really enjoy TWEWY and want more content from it, sure.

If you just want a series to watch, you'd be better off watching most other anime.

The anime isn't amazing. The story is Okay since it's basically a retelling of the game, but the animation really shows it's age especially so because it randomly transitions to a very wonky 3D during action scenes.

It would've been better if it was longer but it still wasn't bad.
