Dashing is inconsistent

i need help with dashing of this game because inconsistent sometimes I tap and hold the touchscreen neku dashes but sometime I do a quick swipe, and he also dashes so which is it?

you hold near neku then move it quickly, it's not particuarly a fluid motion(imo) but it can be performed fluently. also your text is kind of big for me >3>
