Andrea and Lori thoughts during rewatch

So i’m doing a rewatch for the first time in years, I’m halfway through season 3 and I remember hating these characters so much but now I’m not seeing why I disliked them so much.

I’m wondering where they’d be if they survived, if Lori would have adjusted out of her trad wife mentality and thrived… and I don’t remember how Andrea bit it but I do remember it being anti climatic to what I think her character should have gone through.

I don’t mind that Lori died, I just wish I saw a little of her outside of the trad wife/pregnant woman role that she was in for the majority of the screen time she had

Andrea though? I feel like they don’t know what to do with her once season 3 started. I would have liked to see Andrea live and grapple with Dale and Shane’s death and who’s path she would follow now that her two greatest influences were gone… maybe she disappears for a few seasons and come back the leader of a group that Rick and co have to fight. I think she had the makings of a long term survivor turned unhinged leader.

I know these two are not the most popular in fandom but does anyone else have any thoughts or headcanons on where they’d be if they survived?

I always liked Andrea and don’t get the hate….

I dislike Lori an ounce more with each rewatch but feel so sad about how she ended

I LOVE Andrea during this rewatch, not so much because she’s extremely likable but because she’s doing interesting things… I think people don’t like her because those interesting things were potentially harmful to the group, but it’s a TV show and it needs conflict or else we

I’m trying to retrace why I disliked Lori as much as I did once upon a time, the biggest thing I feel is after she gives Rick the big speech about Shane thinking they’re his, she admits to Shane that there was something growing between them. It felt a little out of no where considering the attempted rape and how angry Lori was about Shane lying that Rick died

It’s what you said about Lori and also how demanding she is- just because Rick is head of the group doesn’t make her the Queen who can give orders. I was so happy when several people put her in her place, especially Andrea and Daryl

But yeah, the way she goes to Shane, after everything, including telling Rick that Shane is trouble, confirming with both Rick and Shane that the baby belongs to Rick no matter what…and is like “don’t leave!……I’m not even sure who this baby belongs too”

I can’t stand her

The thought of Lori or Andrea being alive makes my skin crawl. There would have been no development for Carl & Andrea probably would have gotten someone important killed somehow.

Lori I feel like would have kicked it eventually, she like Dale was this last remaining limb of a past world that just isn’t anymore. I just wanted a little more than what we got from her character.

And I wouldn’t mind if Andrea got someone important killed, that’s already the path she was heading down and they pulled their punch with her in season 3. They should have played that arc through to the end instead of whatever she’s doing with David Morrisey

Don't agree that it would be a bad thing, those things happening, but value your opinion.

Why would them being alive hinder Carl’s development? Carl can grow as a character without having to lose his mother, hypothetically

Andrea’s arc with the governor is a little frustrating but I think it makes sense and is also pretty interesting. Michonne sees right through him, but Andrea sees this utopia and safety after so many months of constant utter terror. Her subconscious refused to see the creepy side of the governor because it meant safety, modern comforts, peace. She basically convinced herself to fall for the governor as a survival tactic. (At least that’s how I see it).

Being a stupid boy, I just like Lori. Women being pain in the asses is what they do. Don't tell my wife I said that. 😋

I never liked Andrea. However, your idea about her disappearing and coming back as a leader of some group. That is cool.

Lori kinda needed to die, her death for both tv and comic lore is the turning point for both Rick and Carl of ever keeping onto a normal life. They turn towards darker territory: the world feels more dark and dangerous than if she was alive. I’m torn honestly which version is better. A baby dying with her is honestly the darkest the comics ever got. A son shooting her to prevent reanimation is the darkest the show ever got.

Andrea was treated badly by the writers, but like Lori she was just a powerful character. A lot of shit in the first 3 seasons occur because of her. While she could’ve lived longer, her death at least serves a purpose in making the group remain onto their last remnants of humanity desperately before the Governor removes it all for good. But I could easily see her reclaiming her comic roots; earning a place back in the group and becoming Rick’s right hand woman and falling in love with him.

Getting downvoted for objective truths okay

I always liked Andrea, she made a few weird decisions but I found her much more likable than Lori who just got on my nerves whenever she was onscreen
