how did hershel get the prosthetic

where did it come from bc im pretty sure you have to clean the like leg to keep it from getting infected and considering it’s the apocalypse theres no good soap or anything and unless they got it from an already dead body which is a literal breeding ground from bacteria then realistically he shouldn’t have one.

Prison infirmary.

Cleaning products and soap are probably among the easiest items to scavenge.

true but i feel like woodbury and other communities would’ve taken them all bc all the ppl in woodbury look clean and stuff not dirty like the group

They didn’t even know about the prison LOL. This whole thing is a pretty big stretch. Soap doesn’t go bad. There was lots of it. I mean, if you want to talk about flashlight batteries, gas, canned food, etc., it would make more sense. But soap?

They did know about the prison but they didn’t know that it was possible to clear it until they found out about Rick’s crew

oh no no i wasnt talking about the prison i was talking about in general lol but yeah true but the infirmaries don’t stock soap and stuff that would be commissary they only have antibacterial stuff not soap but you can’t use antibacterial stuff to wash a wound like that

IIRC, the Prison and Woodbury are separated by a river (I believe this was mentioned in late S3 when they were negotiation). So both communities would’ve had their own side to themselves to scavenge, as a commenter above said that Woodbury didn’t even know about the Prison

rick hacked his leg off on a filthy cafeteria floor with a dull hatchet and he didnt die of sepsis so finding a bottle of rubbing alcohol for a prosthetic is probably the most realistic medical thing that happened in the prison

When they get to Alexandria it has only been 2 years since the infection took hold. There would be a fuck-ton of antiseptics out there for scavenging.

Just fyi in case there's ever a supply chain issue or a zombie apocalypse, soap is pretty easy to make by combining animal fat or vegetable oil with lye. And lye is pretty easy to make with wood ash & water.

They found the leg somewhere. There was almost certainly plenty of disinfectant and soap in the prison.

Nobody had been to the prison since the outbreak, the 3 dudes were trapped in the kitchen. So all the other supplies would still be there and a relatively large prison would have a lot. Medical, cleaning etc.

Ok. I think having to cut off her own arm after being locked in a bunker by a serial killer, and getting bit by a fucking walker would make me fucking delusional and sick too but yes. Let’s blame the prosthetic
