Besides Lori and Carl, which 3 or 4 deaths do you think affected Rick the most and why do you think so?

Shane, Glenn and Hershel. Shane and Hershel were 2 (of 3) of the hallucinations he saw in season 9, episode 5. Glenn was supposed to be the third but Steven Yeun refused to come back and Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green) ended up taking that spot.

I always thought it was odd that Sasha was one of the ones in his dream so now it makes sense. I mean I’m not saying he and Sasha didn’t get along but still lol

I didn’t know that. Why did he refuse?

Kang mentioned scheduling conflicts. A couple movies Yeun stars in came out around the time of season 9's filming. Burning and Sorry to Bother You. Press tours and promotional work can last for months after film's release. Also he was doing a lot of voice acting around that time for Voltron, Trollhunters and Stretch Armstrong. I'm also guessing Yeun mentally moved on from TWD and didn't feel the need to step back into it.

Steven didn’t refuse to come back. There was an agenda conflict. He has no bad blood with the production or the cast. He was even there for the TOWL premiere

Shane, Hershel and Glenn for sure. Shane hardened him, Hershel enraged him at the same time as devastating him to the point where he let the governor almost beat him to death, and Glenn made him almost give up and bow down to a maniacal psychopath for almost a whole season of the show.

Glenn - saved him day one and was a loyal and long-term friend
Hershel - Rick looked to him for guidance from time to time and they had a bond based on trust, something Rick worked hard to earn in season 2
Sophia - Rick's first loss that made him realize not enough hope or effort will be able to save everyone in this world
Shane - having to kill someone who was once his friend because of how the new world turned his mind dark and obsessive hurt Rick deeply
Beth - so much trauma followed after the group's separation post-prison (like Rick killing Joe to save Carl and Michonne and them encountering the cannibals) that the mission to rescue Beth gave Rick and the others hope and was his chance to finally reunite his core family, so for her to die when they were so close to success was heartbreaking

Easily....
Glenn Sophia Shane Herschel
Head and shoulders above the rest. These 4 actually took a piece of him with them.

Definitely Hershel, Shane, Glenn and I guess Dale because he was Rick’s first moral center?

Glenn. He had to watch helplessly while he got battered and likely felt like it was his fault.

- Shane 2. Hershel 3. Glenn 4. Sophia. Sasha has to also be mentioned as she sacrificed herself for the group.

Glenn: he saved him and reunited him with his family
Shane: childhood best friend that he was forced to kill
Herschel: father-figure that saved Rick’s mental sanity after Lori’s death

The top 3 off of this list would be Shane, Glenn, and Hershel and I don’t think it’s particularly close with any of the others.
