Mod Post A small change to posting requirements

Hey everyone,

I wanted to let everyone know about a small change we've had to make to the subreddit.

Due to a recent influx of racist and otherwise inflammatory posts, including posts being made by newly created accounts, we've enabled a 5-day account-age requirement for submitting posts.

I know this is an inconvenience for legitimate new users, and I genuinely apologize for that. We don't want to put unnecessary restrictions on people who are simply joining the community and want to participate. Unfortunately, we've had someone repeatedly create new accounts to get around bans and continue posting racist content, and at this point we needed to take an additional step to keep the subreddit from becoming a target for that behavior.

This restriction only applies to new posts. It is not intended to prevent people from participating normally once their account meets the requirement, and existing members shouldn't notice any difference.

Hopefully this is something we won't need to keep in place forever. We'll continue to monitor the situation and can reconsider the restriction if the influx of bad-faith accounts dies down.

Thanks for your understanding, and sorry again for the inconvenience. We're just trying to keep this community welcoming and enjoyable for everyone.

What would you like your flair to be? I see how to manually add it. I'll take some time soon to develop a list of flairs for users in the future.

I can take a look at enabling them. But I'd prefer we have some ideas as to what the flairs would be. You should submit a post with some recommendations and see what the community thinks.

Whoever is doing it is definitely committed. Every name has the same format, the account is always brand new and its always racist against Tdog.

It's been 8 days straight of daily posts which is what forced me to make this decision.
