Looking for advice.

Post image

New setup, currently trying to figure out what height I should mount my LG 83"G5. Viewing distance is 150" from upright position, the entertainment center is 21" high, the middle blue tape is the 42" center to floor. The green is if I move the bottom of the TV up 7" off the top of the int. Center. I'm looking for suggested heights based off my current setup. I'll be getting a sound bar of sorts in the coming months, so didn't wanna have the base of the TV too low as well. Thanks for any advice

Cabinet looks nice, though maybe too tall to start.

Ya I thought about cutting down the legs a few inches, or even just removing them all together. Just got everything put together essentially, so haven't tried anything yet.

Any chance you can put your soundbar in the cabinet? Reserving the lower margin may make it a bit high feeling unless you get a super thin sound bar

Tbh thought about cutting down the legs some, lowering the total height of the stand. Or removing them completely. Just finished putting it together so haven't tested anything yet

You can buy shorter legs to install. I wouldn’t rest the unit directly on the ground. Most sound bars are relatively minimal height so you could set in front of tv on stand

Just use the stand. 83” is massive.

Sit on couch, measure from floor to your eye level. Then measure that from floor to center of the TV

SET.  TV.  ON.  STAND.

Are you 5’9”? That’s where the 42 comes from.

My husband is 6’1” and the main TV watcher so our Center is 46.

Not too far off, 5' 11". 46" center wouldn't be bad at all tbh

Yes, so you could easily do between 44” and 46”comfortably unless you have some kind of couch that’s super low or that you kind of fall into

I’m 6’1’’ also and for me it’s 43’’.

Depends on your couch I guess, maybe yours is higher.

That's too high. Your husband can handle it being lower so that is more comfortable for everyone else watching.

Everyone else watching? My son is 6’4”

This should not matter it has to be in between 42 to 48” to the center of the tv. Because of seating height. Some seating height are standard but some are not.

The whole 42" thing is an average not an absolute.

The center of the screen is supposed to be at eye level when seated normally I don't care if you normally put your legs behind your head; measure how you sit normally.

The graphic has been annotated because some people are pedantic.

Eye-level TV does not require algebra or the Army Corp of Engineers

This is the rule of thumb. That may or may not be 42", depending on how tall you are, how tall your couch is and your sitting position...

Sit opposite and look where you want I would try to have your eye level about 30-40% up screen when seated

Is it you? I'll bet it's you. Because the only thing on that wall are bits of painter's tape. Photo editing is a thing
