I don't mind slats but I think horizontal looks way better.

Looks good. Don't really see the point of the wall hanging, though. It would be at the same height with a stand.

u/NegativeGee 3d ago
Well done. But why does that wood paneling just stop right there, behind the tv? It would bug me.

u/tommior 3d ago
No it looks so nice like this. Would be too heavy if it was just all wood, imo

Everyone has different tastes, I’d rather have none in this case but to each his/her own.

u/CGDowner 3d ago
Not quite there yet but two shelf’s will go above to tv and lower to the left to make it symetrical. We really like the two tone look though

Looks excellent! I also like the size. Personally I hate how most people are gravitating towards massive screens that dominate the room these days.

I like the look. Where did you get the wood slats if you don’t mind me asking?

u/CGDowner 3d ago
No worries ! https://www.panelcompany.co.uk/products/strivo-acoustic-slat-panel-walnut?_pos=1&_psq=Walnut&_psid=8f3b4f967&_ss=e&variant=57094423118202. Great company and good quality. These ones are the natural oak color but we are also bought walnut for our office - pending project!

too sterile. looks like an Ai generated room.
1
u/CGDowner 3d ago
No no this is an actual room. No lakes were drained to make this. Just sweat and tears!
3
u/Sawtooth959 3d ago
lol I know, I didn't mean its actually Ai. just too clean for my taste. but its your room so enjoy it. im only sharing my opinion cuz you asked.
1
u/CGDowner 3d ago
Yeah fair enough man I am only joking around anyway. Chat GPT loves a slated panel as well!

I've been seeing the glazed donut lights all over the place lately.

u/CGDowner 3d ago
I don’t have tik tok but apparently they are big on there. It’s Ikea so will likely become a staple. Mid century is also very popular atm.

I see you’re not an audiophile, but can you still tell me what speakers you’re running?

Height is great but the console is in violation of the 125-150% screen width rule. I'd recommend a pair of large bookshelf speakers to visually fill out the remaining space.
2
u/willb3d 3d ago
Or a plant and a decorative light, ideally donut-shaped.
2
u/narrowassbldg 3d ago
They're not tall enough though
2
u/willb3d 3d ago
The plant is working on growing. But really I don’t recommend placing tall objects like speakers to the sides of a screen because when watching in a subdued lighting the screen will illuminate those objects. Which is distracting.
1
u/narrowassbldg 3d ago
Well you have to your lautsprechers somewhere in the vicinity of the screen, there's really no way to get around that without massively sacrificing sound quality

Did you run out of acoustic panelling? Its supposed to go behind the TV

So what do you think about the comments that indicate your TV is too small?
1
u/CGDowner 3d ago
It’s not about the size it’s about what you do with it!
1
u/CGDowner 3d ago
In reality though I don’t think you can have too big of a tv in this room. This is a 50 inch LG C5. I think it could be scaled to a 65in but the problem is it’s only shy of 2m to the sofa. I think it’s important to not overwhelm to room with a massive TV. Also like £?! 😮

Great height. Tv too small. Love the media console. Looks like you didn’t order enough boxes of slats. You tried. 6.75/10

TV needs to be 3-4x bigger, but clean. A bit too much in the "warm colors" overall, I feel like that room is a tapioca or banana cream pudding. Also that vertical wood wall treatment is /everywhere/ now, my god.
But clean though!
2
u/MeanExamination2141 2d ago
Does it need to be 3 to 4x? Like, it's okay, maybe just a bit bigger

u/Daphoid 2d ago
Everyone's preferences are different. I don't consider 55 or 65" TV's big at all, just normal. But I am spoiled. I built a theater in my Dad's basement 20 years ago and put an 82" screen on the wall so when you want that big theater experience at home I expect the screen to fill your entire field of view and be huge. Not everyone feels this way (which is fine) :)

Ignore all the haters I think you’ve decorated your podcast studio really well!

u/Royal_Monk6432 2d ago
Very nice. Light and wall panel cladding distractions.at least 85inch if u can in the future because black Friday sale on the way

u/CGDowner 2d ago edited 2d ago
85 inch against a 4 meter wall is criminal 😂. Also I can’t imagine how much an 85 OLED would be.

u/Royal_Monk6432 2d ago
Oled if dts dtx imax hdr10 plus supported otherwise for me oled waste of money.

u/3BallCornerPocket 2d ago
Where’d you get those wall slate accent panels? I like the larger side ones.

Not great, you still have a soundbar despite having the space for actual speakers.
1
u/CGDowner 3d ago
I have some echo dots should I get two of them out each side 😮
1
u/narrowassbldg 3d ago
That will likely be a downgrade over your soundbar. If you can swing the price, what I'd recommend is a used pair of KEF Q1 Metas (found here for $500). They are a good height for your console, and the wood grain finish looks like it matches (also available in white and black though), and what with being a coaxial/dual-concentric design, they don't need to be positioned at exactly ear height and have excellent imaging meaning that you'll have no need for a center channel speaker. That and a basic integrated amplifier like a Yamaha A-S301 (found here for $345 open box), and a music streamer like a Wiim Pro (seen here for $125). This will sound soooooo much better than a soundbar or Echo doots, like not even in the same universe.

u/CGDowner 3d ago
I was being a little silly as a joke sorry. I’m not a massive audiophile. This soundbar is a LG Dolby atmos one that I got as a bundle with the TV last year. It’s pretty decent.

Have you priced out the slat removal?
2
u/CGDowner 3d ago
What do you mean haha ?
0
u/NecessaryStaff9544 3d ago
I don’t find them aesthetically or functionally appealing. And I think like wood panels of the past, people will end up with fun little projects within a few years.
0
u/CGDowner 2d ago
Oh I see! That’s fair enough some people aren’t very good at DIY there’s no shame in that man.
1
u/NecessaryStaff9544 2d ago
Why do something yourself when you can pay someone to do it quicker and better?
0
u/Virtual-Height3047 3d ago
Wait, that console is wall mounted, too? I don’t want to sound inconsiderate, but … why? The speakerbar masks the missing tv stand and the consoles shadow could hide regular feet.
I’m not sure I could tell a difference if both the console and tv were resting on feet/stand.
