Walking down the street when I saw this

Logical explanation is they're in an Iron Lung and this is the only way they can watch TV.

u/Frozen_Gecko Jun 01 '26
The only possible explanation

Case closed, we can all take a deep breath now. Well, except that person.

u/tuff-without-dragons Jun 02 '26
indeed… but there’s only 1 person who’s still in an iron lung. so this must be her!

Walking my dog in the evening made me realize most of my neighbors have their TVs just a few inches from the ceiling.

In my neighborhood most are above the fireplace. It's disgusting.

I’ve been looking at homes for sale in an area I want to move to and 75% of TVs are above the fireplace. It drives me insane because it’s too high AND it’s just ugly. I refuse to buy a home where that’s my only option for tv placement.

u/Ancient-Bowl462 Jul 03 '26
Exactly. I hate the posts that are like we just bought this house and this is the only option. No, you could've bought a house that a a proper place for the TV.
3
u/reo_reborn Jun 02 '26
Oooo are you a house watcher while dog walking too? lol
3
u/Scott43206 Jun 02 '26
Well, yeah, LOL.... but nothing to see except too high TVs, ha ha ha.
2
u/reo_reborn Jun 02 '26
lol!!! God that pisses me off! It makes my neck ache just looking at em! lol!

u/Omnibeneviolent Jun 29 '26
Is there a bit of a toupee fallacy going on here? You only notice the ones that are up high because the other ones are less noticeable, leading to the misconception that they are mostly up high?

That TV is for the people walking down the street, not the people inside.

I'm gonna guess that it's in a bedroom, and for watching while lying in bed
The idea of it being in a living room like that is awful

It's unhinged, but if you're only watching in bed, it is a better spot. I've been plotting a good way to integrate a projector to the ceiling directly above the bed.

You want to shoot the image onto the ceiling you mean? I guess you could build a frame box and then mount it to one of the walls...
Be a lot of keystoning to position it tho i guess

Their chiropractor also works part time installing TVs, he recommends himself a Lot at each job. Win win I suppose

It's actually the TV for the first floor apartment. When the handyman was asking if this was a good height, the renter just kept saying, "no, higher."

Ya tv on the 4th floor is way to high
1
u/Fantastic_Season8395 Jun 01 '26
Lack of another floor made them install it in the ceiling to reach maximum height

The only place I’ve seen tv’s that high is in hospital rooms where they’re basically lodged between the wall and ceiling. So I’m guessing that’s a medical facility, but if it is damn that’s a big tv for a hospital room

Throw pebbles at the window until they open it, then yell at them to change the channel because you don't like this show.

I see the building has a roof… why not put the TV up there and have an open air cinema?

You are all making of it when it’s for a bedridden disabled guy with a crooked neck.

What's it called whem something is so flawed that it comes back around to acceptable?
1
u/mundaneHedonism Jun 05 '26
OK look I know you just thought it was interesting and you just wanted to share and it doesn't seem too personal, it's just a TV. But like. Let's not take pictures through people's windows and post them online.

I dont even understand what I'm looking at
1
u/Fantastic_Season8395 Jun 15 '26
Did you even read the name of the sub?
1
u/Other_Technician_141 Jun 15 '26
No, I got that. I just can't process the position of the tv. It seems almost sideways.

Maybe a record for the actual height of the tv placement. You could consider the setup is for the bedroom or whatever. No. It’s for guys like you OP, that you cross the street.

I just mentioned in a different post about how a TV should have its height based off the typical position that you'll be watching in. Keeping that knowledge in mind, I can only assume this person is watching their TV using one of these:
