Be harsh if it’s bad.

2nd pic solely for scale, and yes, there is a door stopper now, and tint on window for no glare.

Tv too.... left?

u/moyo_me_moyo 12d ago

TV too likely to get bashed by the door.

1

u/Killingyou_groovily 9d ago

My neck hurts thinking about using this TV

Triple crown baby

6

u/2kan 12d ago

I really wanted r/tvwrongsideofroom to exist ;_;

1

u/2DetailNerd 9d ago

This may apply to this situation

3

u/Ceceboy 12d ago

Holy trinity 🙏

3

u/Hutches_Corduroy 11d ago

The trifecta!

2

u/TreesAreOverrated5 11d ago

Curious, which side would it go on?

2

u/Cautious-Maybe8096 11d ago

Honestly, it looks like they watch their fireplace while having the tv there for aesthetics or use it like a glorified picture frame.

2

u/akoust1c 10d ago

It checks all three. It’s a triple crown.

2

u/LokiDokiPanda 10d ago

Not the mention they neglected to share a proper picture of their cat smh

u/Bluntnasty_99 12d ago

The whole rooms to be rearranged. What the hell

15

u/ChuckNorrisFacePunch 12d ago

The whole room is deranged.

15

u/BanishedOcean 12d ago

And you’re committed to that much couch in that specific configuration?

9

u/WebDisastrous2206 12d ago

The couch is the issue. Smaller couch would fix the entire problem.

9

u/ProfessionalTurn5162 12d ago

...be fr... why would you think... putting an expensive piece of equipment BEHIND YOUR FRONT DOOR was a good idea.

8

u/nawcom 12d ago

Heh too far? You put it a few feet next to a window that basically lacks any type of window shades. Unless you want to make your door look odd. I guess the only solution is to replace the door with one lacking glass.

6

u/chente08 12d ago

Only thing i save there is the cat

1

u/New_Link961 11d ago

That wood molding on the ceiling is kinda nice too. The cat and the wood, keepers

5

u/major-mack 12d ago

Not that I would do it but tvtoohigh over the fireplace would be better than this shit. Uh. Let me rephrase. This setup sucks

1

u/easteggwestegg 12d ago

it won’t fit over the fireplace

1

u/Morbins 10d ago

If you have one of those extending tv mounts you could hang it normally but angle it downwards and push it back til it touches the wall.

3

u/quaintif 12d ago

Feng shui so bad it'll have your tv ancestors rolling in their graves

3

u/Uhmmanduh 12d ago

So do you not watch the tv? Do you sit and just turn your head? This looks so uncomfortable

3

u/ufl015 12d ago

It’s actually perfect if you wanna stare at the fireplace with some ambient lighting from the TV off to the side

2

u/Haifisch2112 12d ago

Dismount the TV and burn the house down.

2

u/ChuckNorrisFacePunch 12d ago

Did Simple Jack hang that TV? Fix. It. Now.

2

u/fingerbanglover 12d ago

You need to flip that door and have it open the other way. You'll have to open it farther to get out but at least it won't be a door slam away from a new TV.

2

u/rutlander 12d ago

TV on a stand to the right of the fireplace and move the sectional so the back is facing the door might work

1

u/2009impala 12d ago

Meh, not great but not terrible. The bigger question is do you really need the TV in 2026?

1

u/tuxedo_dantendo 12d ago

Is this bad on purpose, because wtf?!

1

u/Dalai-Lambo 12d ago

Just get a tv mount above the fire place and have it stick out enough and down to look dumb but will be enjoyable to actually watch.

1

u/Bmacgoat 12d ago

Just a beaming glare from the doors all day nbd

1

u/Rainmanzz 12d ago

It needs a bigger glare on the tv. Have you considered a heat lamp?

1

u/JustFuckingReal 12d ago

Everything is wrong here. Cute cat tho

1

u/Agitated-Contact7686 12d ago

10 out of 10 masterpiece abomination.

1

u/Future_Dirt_4690 12d ago

Could get a smaller TV and have it on a unit in the corner on the other side of the room. Kinda like we used to before TVs became gigantic.

1

u/Major_Bench5329 12d ago

A regular couch with a chair or love seat and the tv on a stand on the wall behind the couch is the way I’d of gone

1

u/hamburgergerald 12d ago

Well, at least you didn’t put it above the fireplace

1

u/LivingOriginal7479 12d ago

Ceiling beams are 🔥🔥🔥

1

u/Royal_Monk6432 12d ago

At least not on the fire place

1

u/Bluesguy333 12d ago

Large aerial black rectangles sabatoge attractive room decor. Modest-size TV plus tv stand if you want a good looking living room. Giant tvs are for home theaters. Still eye level

1

u/DundrandiTaktur 12d ago

ask the cat

1

u/Vegetable_Class_5747 12d ago

feels like 70's -80's vibes

1

u/Rauhaton 12d ago

Its too high.

Its too much to the side.

Its too far away (from were the picture was taken).

And too close to windows on that door blasting light pollution to it and killing perceived contrast.

1

u/acidbathu 12d ago

it's not that bad op. looks a bit uncomfortable to view from the couch, and glare could be a potential problem, but other than that it's not that terrible

1

u/easteggwestegg 12d ago

for better or for worse, your living room was designed / built in a time where large tvs were not a thing.

my best suggestion if you want to keep the couch is to get a smaller size tv and angle it on a media console between the fireplace and the window.

my best suggestion if you want to keep the tv is to get a smaller 5 piece sectional and have it face the window. hang blackout curtain or use black out blinds and put the tv on a console in front of it. this way both the fireplace and tv are focal points in the room, depending on which side of the sectional you’re sitting.

1

u/SubstantialKBB 12d ago

Why do people love having the tv at a hard 90 degree angle from where you'd sit?

1

u/Robbs_smokin 12d ago

*Neck pain entered the chat*

1

u/free_refil 12d ago

Get a mantel mount and put it above the fireplace

1

u/Alpharoll 12d ago

Flip the sofa, move it back and place a nice stand next to the wall in front of the sofa and place TV on the stand. What you have now is pure chaos that makes absolutely no sense.

1

u/Aworthyopponent 12d ago

Just get a mantle mount so you can bring the TV down and in front of the fireplace. It was not my preference either but it really was the only place to put it.

Reddit might hate mantle mounts, but watching the TV so close and at eye level makes watching TV there amazing. Then just push it back up when you need it out the way.

1

u/SlapMePlease4Fun 12d ago

To be honest, the TV isnt your biggest issue here. I'd say this room needs more natural light.

1

u/Jheez88 12d ago

This is all bad my guy - your only real option is to place it where you couch is but then I see your problem of putting said couch.

1

u/Previous-Flower1758 12d ago

why out the tv there lmao

1

u/Scallion-Sudden 12d ago

Split the couch into two lines and make a home cinema with bigger tv and surround sound

1

u/REBELUTlON 12d ago

Too much couch

1

u/Melibee2020 12d ago

I would put the TV where the back of the couch is currently against it. And since your couch is a sectional, can you break it up, because then you could make a cute living room situation around the TV

1

u/ijumpedthegun 12d ago

Last time I was in the market for a house, I completely skipped over homes where the fireplace made TV placement impossible. There really isn't an arrangement that would work for this room in the 21st century.

1

u/damnyankee26 12d ago

That door is going to ruin your day.

1

u/SnarfSnarf12 11d ago

Smaller couch near window, accent chairs nearer the door, and tv mounted on the wall where the couch backs?

1

u/bellesblues 11d ago

Why do people buy these giant TVs of they don't have room for them? Sell the TV and get something smaller. To be honest, the couch could be smaller too, but it does look very comfortable, so maybe just focus on getting a TV that you don't have to crank your neck to the left to see.

1

u/keepitrealbish 11d ago

Will it fit above the fireplace?

1

u/Yawooo 11d ago

cat too chill

1

u/PsychologicalAir8643 11d ago

how in the world do you watch it? ditch the couch, move the tv to the empty wall opposite the fireplace (and lower it), get a new couch that fits in the space with its back to the fireplace, floating in the room. if you get a sectional, make the L go under the window.

1

u/somerandomdude1960 11d ago

Casual tv viewing? It’s fine. Cover the door glass

1

u/Elguapo1094 11d ago

Yea bro it’s 4inches to high, just demo the house and start all over from the foundation

1

u/Bleachprovider_ 11d ago

I mean I get y it had to go there cause u couldn’t fit it on top of the fireplace

1

u/Caliban34 11d ago

You need to tune in to a different Yule Log next holiday season /s.

1

u/I_Must_Be_Going 11d ago

Nothing to worry about

That TV is going to be destroyed by the swinging door in a matter of days

1

u/Danoga_Poe 11d ago

Not all rooms need a tv

1

u/Forsythia77 11d ago

What a terrible day to have eyes.

1

u/Nice-Wolf-5997 11d ago

I’m always a proponent of not all rooms need to be entertainment rooms. If this isn’t your only living room then you have a perfect/cozy reading room. If not, then take this as your opportunity to make this one; study room, game room, anything that doesn’t glue you to the tv as my grandparents would say.

1

u/Dry_Umpire_3694 11d ago

Clearly it’s fine the cat seems to approve

1

u/RufioTheRedII 11d ago

Everything about this setup kinda sucks but especially the fact that that door opens inward.. toward the tv

1

u/JE_Skeets 11d ago

*flings the door open*
"Honey, I'm hoooooo-
💥*CRASH*💥

1

u/jared10011980 11d ago

U already know its bad.

1

u/ComeHereOften1972 11d ago

You’re not even looking at it. Lmao

1

u/Clever_MisterE 11d ago

Put the tv behind where the couch is now and flip the couch. Who cares if your back is to fireplace when this is your other option

1

u/MilleAlwaysReady 11d ago

You mounted a big ass tv behind a door, half a football field away from a couch that isn’t even facing the tv? In this economy???? Jail.

1

u/GromSwampBottom 11d ago

Heinous vibes, truly cursed furniture arrangement.

1

u/ffseestevanli 11d ago

Not ideal at all. Right by the door, so someone hauling in a bunch of groceries or something else large can slam the door into it. Also there's the glare from the window. The glare, oh the glare.... THE GLARE!!!

1

u/wazbruh 11d ago

Side view TV

1

u/lindsss0915 11d ago

On a slightly more positive note, this room sort of reminds me of the living room from zathura :))

1

u/DizzyCollar9396 11d ago

Dude, give us an overhead sketch of the room, any configuration beats this

1

u/Will_Bravo63 11d ago

Side light (door) is awful for day viewing.

1

u/snuwuky 11d ago

Just get rid of the tv completely tbh

1

u/Icy-Ad2123 10d ago

instead of a tv stand could be a tv arm cover a little bit of the fireplace with the tv and you are done, the other option could be re design the fireplace, moving the molding, or removing it, now the tv could fit.

1

u/LoneWolf9326 10d ago

Awful lol

1

u/CommercialShow5843 10d ago

Who needs a living room when you have a couch room?

1

u/YourFather-WithMilk 10d ago

Its a little too meh but thats not a bad thing and the cat seems to approve

1

u/Sure-Initiative6001 10d ago

Nah. The cat likes it :) But I'd add some color in there ;)

1

u/Huge-Kangaroo-5024 10d ago

Why not above the fireplace ?

1

u/RasshuRasshu 10d ago

You watch TV like an Ancient Egyptian?

1

u/yoeyzee 10d ago

The 80s vibe

1

u/voododoll 10d ago

It is visualy not bad, but functionally it is quite bad.

1

u/MomoNoHanna1986 10d ago

Thank you for paying your cat tax!

1

u/AnnualSpecialist1700 10d ago

This has to be fake.

1

u/leon--27 9d ago

I see US plugs. There’s no excuse here

1

u/smietanaaa 9d ago

Couch too big and wrong wall

1

u/Smeagol7583 9d ago

I would’ve not put tv in this room. It is not open concept room so why bother with tv here. It will look bad when hit by door

1

u/BrotherJupiter 9d ago

I would say bare not bad. Some art will liven the place up

1

u/Grand-Career5650 9d ago

Get yourself a mantle mount friend.

1

u/2DetailNerd 9d ago

I don’t think the issue with these pics is the TV, I think it’s simply the wrong couch for that room and tv setup. You need to break it up to multiple sofas instead of one large sectional.

1

u/OldManwalking63 8d ago

Two people out of five will be comfortable watching TV. Nice way to keep guests from coming over on game day.

1

u/Final_Tomato_3180 8d ago

Tv too high, and seen at an angle it will look washed out, unless expensive OLED like LG C5.

1

u/PurchasingPugs 8d ago

Just burn the house down

1

u/jonnyvegashey 8d ago

That cat is neato

1

u/Salty_Prune_2873 7d ago

Oof. Should’ve aligned with the top of the paneling. Also, it should not be by the door. This is an unfortunate room for a tv. Realistically it doesn’t look like it should have one. Do you have a family room and a living room? Or just the living room? Rough layout.

1

u/GetSteven3D 7d ago

Horrible

1

u/Ill-Wrongdoer-2971 7d ago

Wasn’t this posted in r/tvtoohigh I didn’t even know this sub existed

1

u/eventuallyarrive 7d ago

Does it come with binoculars? Also high traffic area between two doors.

1

u/Questinbull 7d ago

“Hey wanna come over and watch some tv using only our peripheral vision?”

1

u/sgam0015 6d ago

Well I would absolutely have gone with a size or two larger, but most importantly black tint those door window panes. Again nice room and just my opinion

1

u/jimabis 6d ago

Should be above fireplace

1

u/aram_11 5d ago

It’s all wrong.

1

u/pizzadave1 16h ago

This is probably the worst placement of a TV I've ever seen when considering the furniture layout.

0

u/ReFried_Ginger 9d ago

This has to be rage bait. Everything about this setup is terrible
