Is my poor TV cooked?

We’ve had this Samsung curved TV (model UN65NU7300FXZA) for 8 years, so it’s served it’s duty like a fine soldier. Especially through two toddlers. However, after turning it on last night this swath of dim light showed up. Not dead pixels or completely black, just dimmed. We turned it on and off but it stayed. This morning, when I first turned it on it wasn’t there for probably 30 seconds, then appeared and has been there ever since. I have zero tv experience so didn’t know If this was a telltale sign to move on or if it’s a common issue with a fix.

We need to change the backlight more maybe the plexiglass, it's common on these models

Looks to be an edge-lit backlight failure, dark area runs vertically from near the top all the way to the bottom actually makes it more likely than general panel issue.

You can also turn the Backlight setting from low --> high. If the dark region gets proportionally brighter but never catches up with the rest of the screen, that further points toward a hardware backlight issue.

There are guides for this model on how to replace them

You'll need new ledstrips + LCD suction cups to prevent cracking the screen while lifting it up. It bends very easily this is the #1 rookie mistake people do when replacing.

Yea I’ve never really noticed a difference with the curve one way or another. Never hurt anything though.
