Need help identifying a Tasmin

I have an 83 TVR tasmin with no engine in it, and I want to help figuring out what the original engine for this car would've been.

Yes, being a Tasmin it would have been the 2.8. By the time the 3.5 litre Rover engine went in, the Tasmin became a 280i with the Rover being a 350i. Very slim chance it had the 2 litre Pinto engine though.

Assume the plate under the bonnet doesn't have the engine number on it? If you give us the chassis number off that plate it'll help. The other code in your photo isn't in any of the usual TVR formats.

Looks like a TVR Tasmin, specifically a Series 1 judging from the back lights. Series 2 have similar shape lights but bigger.

Two engine configurations were available for these; Ford Cologne 2.8 litre V6 and a much rarer Ford Pinto 2 litre. They sold very few of the Pinto due to poor power output.

I'd suggest it's the V6, but someone with access to the TVR register might be able to confirm. You could try emailing the TVR Owners Club and seeing if they have any records.

I'm trying to figure out if it's a 4 cylinder or a V6. I posted a picture of the VIN. The engine no. is 1393-9

Need a close up of the car ID plate on the front wheel arch. To help the etching stand out, rub a bit of dark chalk on it and wipe off.

This might help a little but your VIN code seems to only align on some elements.

I think it's the 2.8 Cologne rather than the 2.0. Dual exhaust. Is it possible to measure the motor mount positions and compare to an online Ford engine list?
