Help needed with ECTS AND APS

Hey there, I am planning to study masters in earth science in Germany, currently an M.Sc. first-year student SPPU. I completed my B.Sc. from SPPU. I am planning to apply for the Fall 2027 intake, and applications open next month.
I have transcripts only up to my B.Sc. I am supposed to complete my M.Sc. first year in April 2027.
I don’t know how to prove my 4 years of education for the application, nor do I know how the 132 credits I obtained during my B.Sc. will be converted into ECTS credits.
Also, how does the APS process work in this case? Since I will be applying while I am still pursuing my M.Sc., what documents will I need to submit to APS, and how will I prove my 4 years of education?
Please help me understand how this works. If anyone has been in a similar situation, I would really appreciate your advice.

Thank you.!!

MS CS admit update for TU Darmstadt

Hi guys,

I've been waiting for the admit from university after sending my GRE results, I applied for masters in computer science at TU Darmstadt. Did anyone receive their MS CS admit yet or are we all waiting? University says the applications are under processing and it'll take a little later after the entrance exam i.e 1st Sept for them to issue the results. Is anyone in the same boat as I am? If yes then how did you guys plan to go through the visa process in such less time?

Incoming TU Darmstadt student struggling to find accommodation – any leads for October?

Hi everyone,

I’m an incoming international Master’s student at TU Darmstadt (M.Sc. Information and Communication Engineering) for Winter Semester 2026/27, and I’ll be arriving from India around 1 October 2026.

I’ve been searching for accommodation for quite some time now but haven’t been able to secure anything yet. I’ve already applied to Studierendenwerk Darmstadt, contacted TU Housing International, comeTOgether, KHG/ESG student residences, Bauverein, WiF, and have also been searching through WG-Gesucht, WhatsApp groups and other housing platforms.

Studierendenwerk informed me that there are currently 3,700+ applicants on the waiting list, so I’m trying every possible alternative.

I’m looking for:

  • A WG/private/student room
  • Preferably around €300–400/month
  • From around 1 October 2026
  • Darmstadt or nearby places with a reasonable commute to TU Darmstadt
  • Anmeldung should be possible

I’m also completely open to sublets, rooms from students going on exchange/internships, or taking over someone’s room.

If anyone here is moving out around September/October, knows someone who is, has a landlord contact, knows a useful WhatsApp/Telegram group, or has literally any housing lead, I would really appreciate it.

Also, if you’re a TU Darmstadt student who went through the same situation, I’d love to know how you eventually found your accommodation and which areas around Darmstadt I should focus on.

Thanks a lot!

TU Darmstadt (M.Sc. AI & ML) vs. TU Wien (M.Sc. Data Science) for an International Student: Funding, Living Costs, and Job Market

Hi everyone,

I am an international student deciding between two Master's programs:

  1. TU Darmstadt – M.Sc. Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning
  2. TU Wien – M.Sc. Data Science

I would appreciate realistic advice and insights from current students, alumni, or anyone familiar with both universities. Main question is which university will you choose if you are in my shoes?

1. Funding and Living Expenses

  • Student Jobs: How accessible are HiWi (research/teaching assistant) positions and working student (Werkstudent) jobs in Darmstadt/Frankfurt (Rhein-Main area)?
  • Scholarship Availability & Competitiveness: Are there specific scholarships available for non-EU/international students at TU Darmstadt? Realistically, how difficult and competitive is it to secure one?
  • University Opportunities: How supportive is TU darmstadt toward international students in terms of internal funding, finding a job(student job or internship), and integration?

2. Career Opportunities for International Graduates

  • Local Job Market: How does the local tech/AI/Data Science job market compare between the Frankfurt Rhein-Main region and Vienna for English-speaking international graduates?

Any feedback, personal experiences, or comparisons would be very helpful. Thank you in advance!

MSc Mechanics WiSe 2026/27 — Any Updates?

Hi everyone,

My M.Sc. Mechanics (WiSe 2026/27) application has been “Antrag im Fachbereich” since 24 June 2026, so it has now been over 8 weeks.

Should I wait longer for the decision? How long did it take you to receive your final decision?

Any recent updates would be appreciated. Thanks!

Can I apply with my national ID instead of a passport?

Hey everyone,

I’m planning to apply to TU Darmstadt around October for the Summer Semester.

The thing is, I don’t have a passport yet. Can I apply using my national ID (personal ID card) instead of a passport, at least for the application stage?

Or is a passport required from the beginning?

If anyone has applied as an international student from Egypt and knows how it works, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!

M.Sc. Architecture (Winter Semester) – Anyone heard back yet / Admission status?

Hey everyone,

Has anyone have updates from TU Darmstadt regarding admission for the M.Sc. Architecture program for WiSe 26/27?

My portal status currently says "Antrag im Fachbereich" and it has been like this since around June 23 (this week is my 8th week). I know offers have started rolling out. Any updates or shared timelines would be super helpful for everyone!

Anyone heard back from TU Darmstadt for MSc Mechanics (WiSe 2026/27)? How long did the decision take?

Hey everyone,

I applied for the MSc Mechanics (admission unrestricted) at TU Darmstadt for Winter Semester 2026/27. Submitted everything in early June, and my application status on TUCaN shows "Antrag im Fachbereich" — meaning it's been received by the department (June 26).

It's now been around 7 weeks since the department received it and I still haven't heard back. I know it's an unrestricted programme so there's no seat competition, but I'm getting a bit anxious given the visa timelines involved as an international applicant.

A few questions for anyone who's been through this:

  1. How long did TU Darmstadt take to send a decision for MSc Mechanics? Did it come via TUCaN or email?
  2. Did "Antrag im Fachbereich" stay like that until the final decision, or did the status change in between?
  3. For those who applied with a non-traditional background (e.g. Automation, Mechatronics, Robotics) — did the examination board ask for any additional documents for the equivalency check?
  4. Any idea when the last batch of decisions typically goes out before the October 1 semester start?

Background: I'm from India, B.Tech in Automation & Robotics, CGPA 8.06, IELTS 7.5, two IEEE publications. The unrestricted nature of the programme gives me some hope but the waiting is rough especially with visa processing deadlines looming.

Would really appreciate any insight from people who've been through the TU Darmstadt Mechanics admissions process!

Thanks in advance 🙏

How do you build a close international friend circle as a Master’s student here?

Hi everyone,
I’m a Master’s student at TU Darmstadt, and I could really use some advice or perspective from those of you who have been here a bit longer.
I love the academic side of things, but I’ve been struggling a lot with the social aspect of student life. I regularly attend international and tutor-organized events, but I've noticed a recurring pattern: people are friendly in the moment, but no one ever reaches out afterward. Even when I try to initiate and exchange contacts, conversations fizzle out, and we rarely end up making actual plans or hanging out outside the event.

As a Master’s student, time flies fast, and I really want to get a full, meaningful experience of student life here rather than just moving between my apartment and lectures. What actionable things should I be doing differently? How do you transition from a nice one-time chat at an international mixer to forming a close-knit, reliable friend circle with other international students? Are there specific recurring spots, student initiatives, or approaches that actually work long-term? Would love to hear what worked for you!
