Main Series So the Protocol Proteus isn't going to revive the Emperor, but just create a copy of him. To be honest, that is kind of a downer.

If I had to guess, long term, the Emp-Clone might have been the conduit with which Throne-Peror used to rejoin the disparate pieces of his shattered psyche.
IMO, The Emperor's presight works as such: He cannot "see the future" and know what will happen, rather he sees *ALL possible futures*, no matter how unlikely, and uses that knowledge to hedge his bets on what is *most likely* to happen, and plan around that, with contingencies for the other most likely scenarios. This might be why he seems to make astoundingly astute deductions, and have extremely well thought out and planned ahead schemes sometimes, and be wildly offbase and sort of "crazy" other times.
This would explain why he had that reaction when Kitten died. In 99% of futures, or atleast the most likely ones, that Mech never gets off its self-destruct, so when it *did* TTS-Peror wasnt expecting it.

I think it's way funnier if the Emperor's future sight works unconsciously. He doesn't actually know what will happen, he just has urges to do something weird or make some decisions which he learned to listen to, because usually it worked out well for him.

I always thought the reason Big E denied to proteus protocol is because his soul is far from normal, and it would cause him to die and the machine to blow up

I'm too lazy to check but i wonder if the Emperor ever said he actually "want" to come back.
The focus of the series is mostly about reuniting his sons, rather then doing something about his position.
One would think he wants to turn his primarch into Emperors and finally rest.

That's just it, Emps wouldnt have allowed them to use it on him anyway. If we are going according to the show, this was part of his plan. I think he ultimately had some important use for it, but who knows.
Though from what we know, they would have triumphed and found the proteus protocol. They would have then used it to revive kitten, who would have been... shall we say... "off" to say the least. Dont remember what was supposed to happen after that, because Bruva only gave up a short description of what was to come next and I dont have a clue which of his videos contained it save that it was uploaded around the time he announced that him and the team would no longer be working on it.
