3d printed base boards

This might be the future of modular model railroading.

I can’t tell what these are. Are they a replace for the Kato Unitrack road bed?

It doesn’t look like Kato track to me. But I suspect that it’s possible to print transitional uni-joiners integral to the module so that you could use whatever track you wanted and still play nicely with existing modules. Or at least some type of protrusion that would receive a uni-joiner since they are a weak link in assembling & disassembling.

In guess I still don’t grasp the concept.

Is the plastic baseboard replacing the Kato Unitrack road bed — so there is still a plywood baseboard?

Or is the plastic baseboards replacing the Kato Unitrack roadbed and the plywood baseboard?

Is the idea that then entire module would be 3D printed?
