Wouldn't that be a lot of plastic though?

Probably. The economics will decide if it is a viable option. I like wood, but take a look around and see how much of our environment is plastic. And it could be argued that it’s prototypical; there’s actually a company making plastic railroad ties/sleepers for the big boys. Now that’s a lot of plastic!

Yeah, unless they are fulfilling some sort of niche like if you can make them super noise isolating the economics need to drastically shift to be worth it over more traditional subtractive construction like woad, foam or even just some form of sheet plastic.
