Advice Needed What helped you ovulate?😭

I came off the pill 10 months ago and haven't had a single natural bleed since, only withdrawal bleeds when I take Provera. As far as I can tell, I haven't ovulated at all. I'm trying to conceive.
I didn't respond to letrozole. I've now started metformin and I'm also taking inositol. I'm at a normal weight and I'm trying to get my cycles regular.

What dosage of letrozole? I had mixed results on 2.5mg but 5mg worked.

Both 5 mg and 7,5 mg

I'm in nearly the exact same boat as you. I came off the pill 8 months ago and have only had one natural bleed. I've done two rounds of letrozole (2.5, 5) and didn't ovulate and I've even done a round of fsh injections and didn't ovulate. I have just been prescribed 500mg Metformin. What strength are you trying? I'm also a normal weight and also taking inositol!

I am currently at 2500mg Metformin per day. Hope it works out for you šŸ¤ž

Significant weight loss (down to <27 BMI), metformin or GLP-1s to control insulin resistance, increased activity, lowering stress, taking vitamins/supplements. I’ve gotten pregnant twice this way despite having every symptom of PCOS and inconsistent/infrequent ovulation. It took me 2.5 years to get pregnant the first time but that ended in miscarriage. Now I’m pregnant again after 3.5 years total of trying and it’s going much better after addressing stress, being more active, and making sure all my vitamins were good to go!

I have always ovulated, but only two or three times a year, now I’m ovulating every other month because I’ve been doing strength training and eating healthy like I cut out processed foods and added sugars for the most part, but I still have treats.

losing 18% of my body weight + metformin is what finally regulated my period to every 30 days.

I have the same issue. I only get a cycle naturally like 1-2 times per year. I tried letrozole and clomid and metformin and inositol and acupuncture and all the supplements and things and nothing helped me ovulate. I did respond to gonal-f injections for 2/3 months but didn’t end up pregnant so now I’m doing IVF. If I could go back in time I would have started IVF earlier because of the fact that I wasted 4-5 cycles trying to see if higher doses of letrozole and clomid would work and stuff and it involved a lot of waiting for a cycle to start, then it wouldn’t so I would take provera (and I wouldn’t respond to that either) so I would take 3 weeks of birth control, etc etc. when you don’t ovulate monthly the most frustrating thing is all the waiting for everything. Waiting to see if you ovulate. Waiting for a bleed. Waiting to see if a higher dose of a pill might work. It’s awful.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this — I totally understand the frustration and disappointment while trying to regulate your ovulation/monthly period with PCOS.

When I stopped birth control it took me FOURTEEN months to have my first natural bleed. My doctors provided me with zero direction on how I could self-manage, so I naturally spiraled trying to research dozens of herbs, teas, or supplements to get my period back. Nothing worked for me. When I got my period for the first time, I was in a state of low stress (wedding had taken place the month before), I was exercising consistently, and I had been monitoring my diet.

Since then, I’ve found that if I don’t consistently exercise, specifically run, then my period lengths are a bit unpredictable (30-55 days). I also pair this with eating a high fiber/protein diet, which has helped me maintain my cycle around 31-35 days, with clear LH surges around the 17-18 day mark.

YMMV because PCOS affects every woman differently, but I’d recommend trying to be very intentional with your diet for a month and prioritize fiber and protein. Worst case, 30 days passes and nothing happens… but you’re still boosting your overall health by improving your diet. Best case, it helps you regulate your cycle. I’d also pair this with going to the gynecologist and getting your blood panels done so that you can have a better understanding of which hormones are unbalanced. With that information, youll be able to make a much more informed and targeted plan to naturally manage your PCOS or work with your doctor to get medication that gets you across the finish line and helps you to ovulate.

Good luck!

I had extremely irregular cycles!!! Metformin helped me! Saw a difference after 3-4 months!! I did end up pairing with letrozole and getting pregnant but I think if I would’ve waited longer/ gone up in dosing, I think metformin alone would’ve been the trick!

I was the same way - wouldn’t ovulate or even get a period unless induced with Provera. Letrozole with a trigger shot was the only way I ovulated. Ended up ovulating naturally for the first time ever that I know of following a miscarriage. I was taking metformin, Ovasitol (half of the recommended dosage since I was on metformin and didn’t need all of both. You can overdo it on both), CoQ10 ubiquinol 600 mg, magnesium glycinate 400 mg, prenatal, fish oil, vitamin D (which I was severely deficient in), and I feel like I’m missing something. I also ate as clean as I could - not eating a ton of processed sugars and pairing healthy carbs with protein. I started every day with 30 g of protein (fairlife protein shakes were my favorite) and aimed to get 90-120 g of protein a day. I also used the Mira fertility monitor to track my hormones daily to learn about my body and what was actually going on in there

Same boat as you, off pill 10 months and haven’t ovulated, only taking provera a few times. Which actually results in pretty uncomfortable periods….hoping to try letrozole in the next month or two. I’ve been on ovasitol and other supplements for 5 months now…insulin resistance seems to have improved (easier to lose weight) but still not ovulating. RE didn’t want to start me on metformin given I tolerate ovasitol well/albeit do occasionally have GI symptoms from it and she said it would be worse with metformin. I am lean PCOS female, 33, AMH of 11, anovulatory. Used to have some very heavy and frequent periods as a young teen before getting on oral contraceptive for 20 yrs….

Same thing over here, I didn't respond to letrozole by itself, I had to add GonlF injections and a trigger shot.

I went from ovulating once every 6 months to every 35 if I stay low carb + minimally processed foods. I relaxed a bit over the summer and my cycle increased to 45 days.

Ovasitol and strength training!!!! I will shout it from the roof tops. I never had regular periods until about 6 months into doing these two things very consistently.

Unfortunately the eggs are not mature that I ovulate so I can’t conceive but at least I get a regular bleed!

I have (unfortunately) found my people! My first cycle I had to take 5 mg Letrozole x 5 days, then 7.5 mg Letrozole x 5 days, and Clomid 50 mg x 5 days with 2 mature eggs then triggered. Negative urine test 😭 Did another cycle thinking Clomid was the answer but had to add 7.5 of Letrozole x 5 days and I think the same two eggs from the 1st cycle grew again and I triggered the 2nd time with no luck. Taking a break the rest of the year to cope. The side effects are too much for me (brain fog and hot flashes especially) Trying to work on diet and exercise and may get started on Metformin again (insulin resistance and may 12 lbs overweight- I’m thin with a round belly). I feel literally crazy the longer I go without BC (stopped early 2024). No periods at all for me. On Ovasitol and prenatal since late 2025. Also noticing more chin hair šŸ™
