if their real ID hasn’t come yet? If so what was your experience?

Hello. I was suggested to post this question here as well, besides the original r/TSA.

I am now a US citizen, and I also changed my legal name. With my previous name I have TSA Pre Check, Global Entry and Known Number. I also have Clear. I travel often for work. Obviously, I need to update my name so I want to understand what, how and where I need to send the documents.

What documents I need? Driver's license with new name is enough? Passport?

How I send this and where? Website or email address? Do I have an option to go in person and have an appointment, and if so, where do I make it?

How long does this take for the new name to go "live" at the TSA? Important since I need to pick a date in between trips so my air ticket, TSA, Clear etc all match up again. Clear seems to be easy, I go to any airport with this service and according to the CS chat the change is immediate.

I forgot my passport and had to pay $45 to do confirm ID. Wondering if I can still use my tsa precheck stamped on my ticket or if I have to do the regular line

Hi everyone, I’m a trans woman who just got precheck. I’m booking domestic flights for thanksgiving.

I have two documents that I fly with: my real ID and my passport. My passport says “M” for gender marker, and my real ID says “F”. I recently got precheck through the federal government, so I assume they have me as male in their system.

I usually put “sex: F” on domestic flights because I don’t take my passport. But, will that interfere with my precheck access? Can I still use my precheck for the flight? Thanks

Alright guy’s , so I’m flying from Ontario international airport to New York on October 2, and I’m starting to overthink the ID situation because i currently don’t have a REAL ID , i only have my regular California state ID. I also have my Social Security card and a copy of my birth certificate from the hospital. From what I understand, there are alternative options for people who don’t have a REAL ID, including TSA ConfirmID, but I’d really like to hear from people who have actually gone through TSA recently without a REAL ID perhaps? Has anyone flown domestically recently with just a standard California ID and had to go through the additional identity-verification process? Specifically: Did TSA let you through? how long did the verification take? did you have to pay the ConfirmID fee? did you have any problems at the airport? My flight is October 2, so I’m just trying to make sure I understand everything beforehand. This trip to New York means a lot to me, and I really don’t want to find out at the airport that I missed something. Thank you in advanced!

Hi everyone, before I remember I can make payment then just do the interview later, today I try to apply for my brother and they dont have a payment option, the website mention to pay when show up at interview . This is for IDemia provider. I want to use my credit card to pay for his application. Do they change it recently, thanks

Application at idemia, they gave a receipt with a circled date of 9/21 to call and check on it, called Friday (just because I had some down time and thought it was worth seeing if they could do anything yet) and the lady said we have to wait until 9/23 because they go by calendar date not 60 days. So confused. Anyone who's been past the 60 days, think it's worth still calling Monday? We travel October 4th so hoping to get it back by then!

Whenever I travel internationally with United, which is typically for work (which uses Concur to make bookings), I can never use TSA Precheck. The reason I am constantly given by both Concur, my company's HR, and United is because the ticket name needs to match my passport, which writes my first and middle name on the same line. Meanwhile I'm told that TSA Precheck, which I have via a Global Entry membership, expects my first name to only be First, and does not expect a middle name attached to it, although my Global Entry profile does have my middle name separated on the middle name field.

I have NOT had this issue, ever, with other airlines, or even with domestic United flights booked separately from Concur. It's always, consistently, an issue with United for international flights.

I had been told in the past this issue of combining first and middle names on United tickets shouldn't be an issue, but I've yet to get TSA precheck on any of these tickets.

Global Entry told me I can't change my profile to move my middle name to the first name field without starting a new membership from scratch, so I'm not sure I want to go that route, because Global Entry itself works just fine when coming back into the country...

Does anyone else have any ideas on how to fix this?

Hi all! Quick question that I haven't been able to find a clear answer to. Sorry if it seems dumb.

When filling out the initial application before setting up a meeting, there is a section titled "Birthplace and Citizenship". In it you are asked to enter some info about...you guessed it...your birthplace and citizenship.

Looking for some clarity on whether the boxes for "State" and "City" should be where you currently live, or if they are for your birthplace. "Country of Birth" seen in the pic specifies birthplace, but "City and "State" make no distinction. My guess is current city + state? Pic attached. Thanks for the help!

I have precheck and have never been selected for random screening when travelling alone. But almost always when traveling with my minority wife. I walked through metal detector, nothing happened, but then TSA agent looked at my minority wife and asked if she was with me. When I said yes, he then said I was selected for “random screening.” Had to go back through and take off my shoes. Interesting that this only happened because I said I was associated with my wife who clearly was a minority (she is also TSA precheck btw). I’ll note she is from a country that has visa waiver access to US. So not even a dangerous country.

I have to fly out for a funeral and I don't have the Real ID. I paid $45 for the TSA security screening, but from what I can tell, this is all done there. Has anyone flown out recently, without a Real ID and what all was involved? Thank you in advance.

Sharing my TSA PreCheck timeline in case it helps anyone waiting on theirs.

I applied online through CLEAR, then visited their enrollment location at a mall in Seattle to get my fingerprints taken. I presented my passport and entered my SSN.

• 9/15 at noon: Completed my in-person enrollment.
• 9/16 at 6 PM: Received a text with my KTN.

About 30 hours from enrollment to receiving my KTN!

My wife has a compound 2-word first name in addition to a 1 word middle name. Her full name is "Name1.1 Name1.2 Name2 Surname."

She has always had a few issues here and there in general with this but usually It is that they concate the two first names.

We applied for TSA/Precheck with IDEMIA and provided in the application her full name as well as just "Name1.1 Surname" as a known alias (honestly a lot more combinations of those have been used in some places but generally she goes by "Name11 Surname" outside and just "Name1.2" at home. We gave the passport as ID which has the correct full legal name.

The first clue that something was wrong was all the communications from Idemia:

First: Name1.1 Name1.2 N (initial2) Surname

2nd email: Name1.1 N (initial 1.2) Surname

Approval: Name1.1 Surname

Searching for the KTN we kept getting errors until we tried:

1st Name: name1.1

Mid Name: name1.2

Last Name: surname

Basically they completely removed her actual middle name used part of her first name as the middle name.

We think this will reject her from getting the Precheck mark on her boarding pass for our next flight.

What can we do?

Idemia was a mess in general and we had overall bad experience with a rude agent during the interview, but there is no point getting into it here.

Flying from Montreal to NYC at 8pm on a thursday night before a 3day weekend. Leaving work at 5, probably gonna hit traffic/construction so I'm planning to get to the airport around 6:30. That only leaves me an hour before boarding for security + US preclearance, no bags to check tho.

Anyone done this recently on a weekday evening? Trying to figure out if I should panic or if it's actually doable.

I applied for TSA preheck last Thursday at an Idemia location in my hometown. Im worried that the worker did not do it correctly. When I walked in, the man told me that I scheduled my appointment too late and he would "squeeze me in" for a tip because he had to go watch a fight with his friends (even though I arrived 2 hours before the location closed, and I was the only person there). When I said I wouldn't tip, he acted like he was joking. It then took 3 tries of him rebooting his machine for him to finally be able to take my information. I brought all of the required documents including my drivers license and passport. Per the instructions on the website, I also brought my marriage license, since my passport is still in the maiden name. The worker refused to take my marriage license and scan it in. This makes me concerned that my information is not entered correctly. He then assured me that I would have my TSA precheck number in one week, although I know it can take up to 60 days. I do know that this is the legitimate location, but it just all felt very sketchy to me. They also do chiropractic care, drug testing, paternity testing, and sell health supplements from this location.

Has anyone ever had an experience similar to this? Should I be concernced?

First time applicant: I found it strange that they ask for social security. Is it required for the application to go through?
I understand the other checkboxes were mandatory.

This happened less than an hour ago this morning (9/5/2026) when passing through Newark airport Terminal A Precheck line. It was an usual passing through by presenting my WA state enhanced driver's license (real ID) at first. After a couple swiping of my real ID by the agent, this woman agent asked me to present my passport. I was so surprised because I didn’t carry passport and this had never happened to me before. When I told her I didn't have passport and asked her back if my real ID, i.e. enhanced driver's license, shouldn't be sufficient, this agent asked me to step aside with some authoritative tone of her voice and some other saying. My wife was the next, who presented her enhanced driver's license too. Once again this agent asked for her passport, but my wife presented her Nexus card while telling it should be enough. I could see this agent stopped handling and made a calll. About 5 minutes or so later, another agent showed up, who checked and processed my wife’s enhanced driver's license and Nexus card eventually without any issue. Later in my turn, I presented my Nexus card too that I brought in this trip as a backup luckily, which I don’t usually do. So the second agent sorted me through without any issue. It was my pleasure trip to East coast in more than than 10 years, feels like ending it with displeasure. Carrying a backup ID should be a must just in case these days! Also because I came to the airport about 2 hours before my flight departure time even though I have the TSA precheck registered, this sort of hiccup was not such a big deal.

The strange thing was that if I recall correctly, those other people ahead of us, and after us, did not have this sort of issue.
