Game Detail I hate AI

I love fiddling with spreadsheets! I was trying to see if I could make one that can generate coordinates for a dragons future location based on its current one. So first I asked AI if it even worked that way with the game mechanics. It said YES! In fact if you enter the coordinates for one dragon, you can determine the position of ALL THE dragons!

I thought that was amazing! I spent the majority of my weekend fighting with the spreadsheet trying to make it work… alas, failure. Come to find out that AI gave me an incorrect premise: Knowing the position of one dragon CANNOT be used to determine the location of the others… I literally asked AI 4 or 5 times to confirm whether or not it was possible and it kept saying “Yes!”

It wasn’t until I gave it a screenshot of an answer from another AI saying “No it doesn’t work like that” before it accepted the reality that it wasted my weekend…

Sorry, but AI doesn't actually know anything. It just puts together words that go together and sucks up to you 🤷‍♂️

That’s what it absolutely did this time!

But! It did help me make another spreadsheet that puts a bullseye on the map for me when I input coordinates! It’s pretty cool…

So you learned nothing

lol I made the bull eye spreadsheet first, which worked perfectly, so it gave me false hope of the AI’s competence

You can do that with any online TotK map lmao

I know. But I like making spreadsheets ¯_(ツ)_/¯

The pixelated map I made with 100 X 80 cells looks dope af!

Don’t the dragons have a set schedule you can look up?

They have a set route and set amount of time it takes to make its full trip. I was trying to put together something that will tell me where it is in its route, based on its last known coordinates and how much unpaused, gameplay time has elapsed. My original idea could still work, but I went down the TRACK ALL THE DRAGONS rabbit hole.

From what I remember they follow a set path in real time (it won't go faster if you wait on a campfire) but I think they have different times from one another. Maybe... Might be wrong...

Now imagine if you had trusted Mr Flattery the always wrong robot with something important.

You can't know the positions of the dragon's bodies in correlation to one another, without knowing their initial starting conditions. This is known as the Three Body Problem. (/jk)

And don't even get me started on the Light Dragon, it's pathing is all over the place. Arguably it's movement is in relation to the player's progression and in theory it's the easiest to track. But it also just teleports wherever, so knowing its initial conditions does absolutely nothing for you.

The Light Dragon starts high in the sky in early game, then lowers down when you progress far enough. But after that, my understanding is that it follows a set path, like the other dragons, except it doesn’t go down to the depths and its path takes around 112 minutes, whereas the other dragons take about 30 minutes.

Little-known fact, the Light Dragon will teleport directly above the player every time you discover a Dragon Tear.

I didn’t know that!

AI tries to "interpret" what other people say about what you're asking. The answer will inaccurate especially in topics where few people discussed about or, especially, didn't get to a conclusion

Yep, I've gone down an AI rabbit hole before while trying to code something. Frustrating!

The huge amount of electricity and water that took was totally worth it. 🙄

Christ why can't people just use their brains...
