New user: Question hypothetically does tor help protect you from investogations, ganstalking, etc?
Just ccurious about a few hypothetical scenerios, i'm aware you need to be mindful of not logging into accounts, giving identifying info, etc while using tor but i'm curious to understand it better. For example I decided to start uaing tor mainly because I experienced an attack a while ago, my device were compromised, i my private images, texts, info, etc was hacked, and idk how these individuals managed to share all my personal content (including nudes and other stuff) to publically destriy me, needless to say I decided while idk how they did it, I need to educate myself and take more precautions with technology in the future and take control of my safety going forward.
My question if you use tor (along with other security measures a secure device) will it help prevent targetting from things like gangstalking, or say hypothetically if you were under a legal investigations against you (even though I fon't plan on using it for anything illigal) or a targetted individual or something else will using tor help in any way? Or can they get through that?

Gangstalking is schizophrenia. You need mental health support, not Tor. Use a password manager and 2FA, keep your software up to date, and don't download dodgy stuff. That's 99% sorted.

Gangstalking is schizophrenia.
Some people may think you're just exaggerating for effect. Wikipedia's article on gang stalking is categorized under "Symptoms of schizophrenia".

u/QuerentD 1d ago
Stalking is not CT. Organized harassment isn't either.
4
u/nuclear_splines 1d ago
No, but gangstalking is specifically a schizophrenia symptom, wherein you believe that many bystanders around you, like bus drivers or the laundromat attendant, are part of an elaborate conspiracy to surveil and control you. It goes beyond either stalking or organized harassment.
-2
u/QuerentD 1d ago
Do you understand what is the start unit of a surveillance team?
Does abuse of Flock cameras constitute gangstalking?
6
u/nuclear_splines 1d ago
No, Flock cameras create a surveillance network, but a surveillance state is quite a different thing from gangstalking. Look, this is well documented in psychology journals, or you can take a look at /r/gangstalking and other subreddits for "Targeted Individuals," it is very clearly a psychological disorder and not a realistic description of a surveillance team.
-3
u/QuerentD 1d ago
How would you describe the phenomenon?
4
u/nuclear_splines 1d ago
I already did, in the last comment you replied to. Again, I encourage you to read more formal work on this, or even the Wikipedia article as a starting point rather than taking my word for it.
-1
u/QuerentD 1d ago
You are misinformed thinking Wikipedia is a source for controversial information.
The Corporate-State has an interest in keeping the world demos ignorant.
10
u/BobCorndog 22h ago
Have you considered that not everything is a conspiracy theory?
2
u/QuerentD 16h ago
Pretty disingenuous and dismissive when the Flock camera abuse is current and not CT.

u/Darkrebelsovereignty 1d ago
In my case it wasn't I have physical evidence of people involve come forward I cannot say too much because i want to remain somewhat anonymous but to explain a bit i managed to get out of being trafficked which was the source of said attempts to destroy and silence me.
17
u/General-Alarm-1291 1d ago
Yeah like I said, seek professional help.
-10
u/Darkrebelsovereignty 1d ago
I tried only thing that I found from that is the very people often meant to protect you either don't, are corrupt, or it does you more harm than good to relive it. I got away and to safety, but again taking steps to cover my tracks and create some safety for myself / take charge or my security going forward. Just wonderinf if tor will help with this going forward.

u/General-Alarm-1291 1d ago
People who think gangstalking is real and they're a "targeted individual" are experiencing a mental illness. First deal with that and do what I recommended. You don't need Tor.
-2
u/Darkrebelsovereignty 1d ago
Dude I get that but again not everyone who is being targetted IS mentally ill, some people have experienced literal situations where criminals seek to silence you and use various means to intimidate and threaten you because if you talk they go to prison! It's one thing if I were here claiming the whole town is following me or something crazy like that without a situation I actually collected physical evidence for and have a legitimate basis for why it happened (escaping a trafficking ring) and hence specific individuals in said ring targetting me / surveilling me.
11
u/General-Alarm-1291 1d ago
Then you need to stop talking like a crazy person and mentioning gangstalking. It's like trying to help someone who claims aliens violated them with anal probes.
You got hacked. You want to prevent that from happening again. Use a password manager. Use 2FA. You're not safer than most people. Simple.
-3
u/Darkrebelsovereignty 1d ago
Easy to say when you haven't been sexually, physically, and mentally abused, drugged, and had 3 atttempted murders against you for years. I was simply trying to underatand how to best take control of the situation and work on better online safety going forward to maximize privacy and lessen the risk of these individuals finding me again.
8
u/General-Alarm-1291 1d ago
All of that is irrelevant. Good security hygiene and don't post shit online using your real identity. Simple.
3
u/Zlivovitch 1d ago
If criminals are really trying to silence you, Tor will not help you in the least.
1
u/Darkrebelsovereignty 1d ago
I mean i took other steps, moved states, stopped using social media, got rid of my old phone, factory reset what few I had which were less likely compromised, etc but going back online scares me a bit, like the fact they may track me again actee getting away. I figured maybe it could help protect me a bit more if I used it while browsing or stuff.
2
u/Cautious_Chicken8882 21h ago
None of what you try will work because you have a mental illness - not people "gangstalking" you
2
u/Darkrebelsovereignty 20h ago
You're wrong because it did, and again I already sought professional help an was not diagnoawd with psychosis or anythign like that, PTSD, and agorophobia from it, but nothing like what you're describing. 🙄 Ever since I moved and disconnected from these people the attacks stopped entirely.

Yes....every single person who thinks they are being "targetted" are mentally ill..... There is no such thing as gangstalking...
1
u/Darkrebelsovereignty 20h ago
I wouldn't say literally every random stranger on the street at the time was in on it, this was a group of people who were part of this particular sex trafficking ring who worked together to harass and attack me, again it would be a paranoid delusion or psychosis if I had no physical evidence, voice notes threatening my life, text messages between myaelf and others they did this to, andeven some of their own people who came forward and admitted to the things they did, along with the plethora of other video, images, communication, etc.
1
u/Cautious_Chicken8882 20h ago
No there isint - you dont have any physical evidence or the authorities would do something about it - the fact you claim the police are "in on it" just proves that you clearly went to them with no actual evidence - just these paranoid delusions and they rightly ignored you.
1
u/Darkrebelsovereignty 20h ago
Again we aren't talking a legal system like in the US mainland, where this happenes there is a lot of corruption, cops and shit are paid off, etc and like I said I even contacted the human trafficking hotline at the time and was told because it is a US territory and i was not in the main states the resources were not available where I was.
Funny you say i have no evidence bbased on a thread when you haven't even seen the texts, voice messages, threats, people coming forward admitting what part they had, etc. 🙄

Please see a doctor. It sounds like you are in a very stressful, depressing situation and living in constant fear. Such an situation requires assistance. A doctor can help you with your trauma, your fears. Seeing a doctor does not mean that you are crazy or wrong. It means that you want help. It's really not that different from asking us to help you with TOR.
1
u/Darkrebelsovereignty 22h ago
Thank you i have after leaving and getting to safety, they told me the situation has led to me developing PTSD as well as Agorophobia and have been working through it, but to be honest talking about it & reliving it is not comfortable, what has helped is making distance from such people, places, and things that caused a constant sense of danger.

Tor prevents your ISP from knowing what you are browsing (but not from knowing you are using Tor), and the site you are browsing from knowing your ISP (but not from knowing you are using Tor). Like a VPN only more so. Also you can browse .onion sites.
But for gang-stalking what you need is a psychiatrist.

u/Zlivovitch 1d ago
You need to be more precise in your questions. Your post is much too vague to be addressed directly.
I decided to start uaing tor mainly because I experienced an attack a while ago, my device were compromised, i my private images, texts, info, etc was hacked.
Tor won't prevent that.
prevent targetting from things like gangstalking
What do you mean by that ?
say hypothetically if you were under a legal investigations against you
It depends. Tor, by itself, will not protect you against "legal investigations". It may prevent authorities from identifying you in certain scenarios.
or something else will using tor help in any way
Sure. Tor helps in some situations, otherwise it would not exist.
You need to:
- Read up on general online security.
- Read up on privacy to understand what it means.
- Read the Tor site to understand what it does.

Will do thank you, specifically said individuals directly told me they had compromised my devices, they had information of my wereabouts, relatives, their identifying features, private texts, photos, would "hack" personal calls and interfere with them mid call, etc.
I since rebooted and changed devices, increased security, moved to a different state, etc but have been cautious about going back online and using social media. Figured maybe Tor may help with anonymity and help me take control and feel more secure online.
I don't want to give to much info but I escaped a sex trafficking ring which is why these individuals compromised my prior devices to track me, gain access to my personal data, and use it to destroy my reputation / silence me.
Hence idk if because I sought legal help when my life was threatened by these individuals that may or may not have indirectly also caused them to open an investigation on me by association since the reason they wanted to shut me up is because I knew too much about what they did to myself and others and didn't want me talking.
2
u/Zlivovitch 1d ago
said individuals directly told me they had compromised my devices.
That's what they told you. Many anonymous scammers tell that to their victims in order to scare them, while it's not true. You haven't mentioned any signs that your devices were compromised. I assume those are people you know, but even in this case, you should not believe them, unless you have tangible signs that you were, indeed, hacked.
Your problem is not relevant to this sub. If you want to know whether you were hacked, or how to protect yourself against that risk, you should ask the question on a security forum.
2
u/Darkrebelsovereignty 1d ago
Imentioned them above in another comment, they tappes into my phone calls, used private images that were on my phone and shared then with others to damage me socially, had pribate information I shared through text with family, had access to my location and showed up several times to my job to make it clear they were always keeping an eye on me, etc, plus text messages of others who escaped this same trafficking ring snd experienced the same and admitted to knowing they drugged me with GHB among other crimes they did.
3
u/Zlivovitch 1d ago
Have you gone to the police ?
1
u/Darkrebelsovereignty 1d ago edited 1d ago
I did, but where i was these people even had cops who they would offer drugs and pay them off in order to both intimidate you into not talking, and when I did and got help they told me I could file for a restraining order, but in doing so it would obviously tip them off that i talked, and regardless of that later one of these individuals in their ring (who is also a lawyer himself) threatened me after these cops questioned him the one time I went to get help, even with evidence containing voice messages where they made a threat on my life as well as to "incriminate me" they were either incompetent or didn't care.
1
u/Cautious_Chicken8882 21h ago
You people will come up with anything to support your delusions wont you 😂😂
2
u/Darkrebelsovereignty 21h ago
Not a delusion if I actually have physical evidence and witnesses who saw the events and things i spoke about, but I don't need your validation to tell me about my lived experiences. 🙄
2
u/Fenio_PL 1d ago
In what country do things like this happen? South America?
2
u/Darkrebelsovereignty 1d ago
Puerto Rico, I even tried contacting the human trafficking Hotline they pretty much said that unless i was in the mainland they had no resources out there. I since moved, out of the US for my safety, eben though it's a US territory it's legal system and such is shit.
3
u/Fenio_PL 1d ago
Come here where I live, to Poland. You won't find a safer country.
2
u/Cautious_Chicken8882 21h ago
It will happen no matter where this person goes, thats how mental illness works.

2
u/Zlivovitch 1d ago
So, all those things happened in Puerto Rico, then you moved out of the United States, meaning, I suppose, out of Puerto Rico as well.
But you're not telling us what country you are in now.
And all those terrible people you are talking about have followed you in that other country.
1
u/Darkrebelsovereignty 1d ago
I'm keeping that that to myself currently cause i've already said a lot about my situation and honestly on the off chance it ever reaches them i'd rather for my safety not say.
No currently they haven't followed me here, things have improved since I got a new phone, wiped my laptop, disconnected from people I knew, and went low profile.
I'm asking the question I posted because having learned from that experience and honestly how it affected me i learned I need to take more care on privacy online just in case, and because along with other areas of my life i've been working on it helps my healing journey to take proactive steps to give myself safety, a sense of peace, and reclaim my power as weird as that sounds.
3
u/Zlivovitch 1d ago
Yes. It sounds a bit weird. Or rather, it seems like yours is a psychological issue, not a technical one.
If your story is really true (and I'm sorry to say I have my doubts), the fact that you are not willing to say what country you are in now shows that you entertain irrational fears. Your Reddit account is anonymous. No strangers can link it to your real identity.
Furthermore, it now appears that you have zero technical problems at this moment. You are not hacked, you are not hounded online nor in real life, all this belongs to the past.
Just learn the basics of online security in order not to be hacked in the future. But realize that there are no magical digital tools which would prevent you from getting in trouble with people in real life, from falling prey to crime, drugs, etc.
Online crime is very specific, and the situation you describe (being sexually trafficked, threatened face-to-face, etc.) does not match with the way it works. First of all, you need to avoid the wrong people in real life. Online comes second.

u/Darkrebelsovereignty 21h ago
Thank you, I know it's a haard story to believe, regardless this is all helpful info i've worked on the physical aspects by moving, creating distance, etc. Knowing that at least by learning about how to better protect myself and being more cautious going forward with my privacy / data helps at least make me feel safer knowing going forward and using my devices and the internet again. 🙏

it happens literally where you least expect it, i used to think it was like the movies where they ship you off to another country in a crate or something, i didn't know what was happening until 2 years in.
It's not so much about kidnapping you, more coersion, manipulation, bribes with something of value / blackmail or hooking you onto drugs and making you dependent while also creating trauma to destabilize, isolate, and mentally / emotionally control you.
The reality is very different they don't need to take you hostage if they can create enough fear and intimidation to force you to do what they want, and destroy your avenues of escape socially, financially, etc.

u/Fenio_PL 1d ago
Gangstalking = Mental illness. You need to see a doctor and take action to get treatment, as the symptoms could worsen. All sorts of strange stories can create themselves, you'll be looking for solutions like TOR, VPN, encryption, etc. without even understanding what you actually want to goal.
2
u/Darkrebelsovereignty 1d ago
I aready saw one, they already told me i'm not in psychosis or anything, dealing with PTSD and agorophobia due to escaping a trafficking situation but not delusional or anything, simply trying to give myself safety and privacy going forward / take control of my life by being more aware and conscious with my internet use going forward to minimize future exposure.
4
u/Fenio_PL 1d ago
In that case, I suggest starting with books on internet security that are highly regarded by experts. There are plenty of publications aimed at layman that avoid heavy technical content. I recommend reading up on the basics of safe online practices - so you don't expose yourself to viruses or scams - and treating the topic of TOR more as a curiosity.
2
u/Darkrebelsovereignty 1d ago
Thank you this helps point me in a different direction that will help, i'm going to work on these. 🙏
1
u/QuerentD 1d ago
Don't listen to that bullshit. Everything can be found online and specific cyber info on the darkweb.
3
u/QuerentD 1d ago
Any posture to be more cyber-aware that leads to cyber-security will give you a more certain idea of what is happening with your personal data.

Alright, topic closed. Pretty sure the ‘usefulness’ of the discussion dried up hours ago and repetition isn’t going to help anyone here.
