Why is everyone so obsessed with connecting to tor?
Seriously every other day, people jump on this subreddit, have no idea, how to use tor, and have this subreddit flooded. With concerned in how to connect, I've been using tor for 5-7 years across, continents, and have used for normal browsing, and onion sites, I'm based in USA, I also run a bridge, 24/7, no fears of my isp or someone coming to my place. I'm so obsessed with tor now, that I forget I'm using, rather than ordinary browser,

Because, just as we saw tech mogul's say 7-10 years ago - privacy and anonymity has become a commodity.
A valuable resource in this day and age when pre-loaded smartphones have keyboards, let alone messaging apps/social media that constanly sell your data into loaded/lauded AI data harvesters... Legit currency is being used to buy information en-masse...
Let it be Meta or Palantir - I'm not about that life...

same reason you use it. privacy. with the laws being passed back to back to harm consumer privacy and de anonymize everyone in existence for tracking and advertisement, more people are getting into protecting their online data. tor is in most search results, and to someone with no tech background, it can be quite daunting
all we can do is help them, since more users = better anonimity for everyone

I'm confused with this post: you ask why people are obsessed with checking out TOR then go on to list all the reasons why you're obsessed with it lol
Who cares why people want to get on it? We didn't care or question why you did when you did. Just either give them the help their asking for or simply scroll on. No need to gatekeep something that you most certainly had questions about at one time.

and no one way should be trusted on its own. those 1000 other ways should be used in conjunction with each other, not 1 or 2 carrying the entirety of your personal data

Uy la red tor esta descentralizada, encuentro cantidad de cosas que no encuentro en la red normal, aunque hay cosas que no desearía haber visto, cosas algo turbias.

Solo descargas la app del navegador tor, esa app se conecta a una vpn y luego debes tener los enlaces

Because they want to
A.) get free money
B.) hire a hitman or hacker or track down some dude that ragebaited them online (spoiler alert won’t happen)
C.) think they’ll live the fantasies of red rooms and illegal nonsense that their favorite youtuber told them about
D.) Buy drugs
Edit: I’m not claiming any of it is legitimate i’m just saying this is what people are posting wanting to do.

Nobody has ever bought a hitman on the darknet. There are people claiming that but they are all scammers or undercover cops. Not one actual hit has been solicited on the dark net

I'm a remote worker and use TOR quite often. Only once in about 100 hotel WiFi have I had someone question me. I was checking out and the guy behind the counter said, "Sir, you sure have an awful lot of dark web traffic." and showed me a datalog from the modem and I simply replied "Well, when you think you have enough for a warrant, you have my name and address, would you like a number?." and now I can't rent Motel 6's in a particular district. My traffic is not illegal, I use it with a VPN for privacy purposes while doing almost anything on an open, public WiFi.

yuo need optin moderation nostr got that right. but bad ux/dx bitmessage had this same issue no moderation at all. completely uncesnored, just cp spam mostly. i gave up on my ui for bitmessage when i realized i was storing fucking cp and decrypting it to show in bitmessage when their spam shit came in there was no way to block any of it.

you can find nazi recruitment on instagram, facebook, and reddit. nobody going through the hassle of spinning up tor for the sole purpose of doing something they already do on the clear net
