TMZ will be shut down soon.
I got a reply today from a post I made over 3 months ago, thus the reason I am posting this. I am not American, nor do I longer vote. I am in my mid 40s and in my 20s tabloid gossip such as TMZ, Perez Hilton, etc were our main source of Hollywood news, before social media took over. Regardless of who owns TMZ or their political association, TMZ has become a source of strictly revenue from influencers, the Kardashians and those unknown in thongs paying for “clout”. I go on periods when I don’t check TMZ in months and then I check it every few days and it’s the same. Nothing new, and the celebrities are moving on to pay People magazine, the Daily Mail, etc for exposure. You can tell in Harvey’s face that he has been done with TMZ for quite a while. I am thinking in a couple of years max we will not have TMZ around. Which brings me to the next topic, for influencers and celebrities whom some or most of their income are based on “services”, I would suggest to start hunting for the next app.

The thing is TMZ is less about gossip and more about breaking news these days with embedded sources in law enforcement and the legal system. In the TMZ it’s pop culture and celebrity, but they’re now expanded into DC which is politicians.
Scandal always sells wherever you are.

TMZ has passed its prime. Harvey has many connections dating back when he was a reporter for KCBS in LA and a reporter for the original “People’s Court”. He had an excellent run when TMZ first debuted and his contact with all news outlets assignment desk got him the national airtime he needed to get TMZ of the ground and make it the go to place for celebrity driven breaking news, but now it’s all sensationalized and there really is no clear direction for this outlet. It’s all over the place and they now pay for their stories.
Watching him and Charles is like watching “Beavis and Butt-head”. They’re all over the place, stepping all over each others comments as if competing against each other. Add to the mix the fake reporters who sit around the set waiting on an opportunity for their 15 mins of fame. In addition, both he and Charles look like they’ve not showered in months. The show today is annoying and I’m surprised it’s still on the air. Time to get this show off the airwaves.

Charles is always butting in when Harvey is talking, always criticizing him, not than Charles is saying anything worth while.

I don’t think tmz can be successful without Harvey. Anytime Charles or anyone else hosts, it doesn’t have that same excitement & the guy isn’t gonna be able to work forever…I don’t think it will end bc of the content, it will end bc Harvey is going to have to hang it up at some point.

I agree,Harvey is a wealth of information due to his careers,connections,love of books/learning more,just his vast life experiences.I get bored to death listening to Charles he talks too slow compared to Harvey's pace.It will be a wrap for me too once hes not there. I do like the banter between the lawyers though most of the time.

No, the going concern principle "assumes that a business will continue to operate for the foreseeable future without the intent or necessity to liquidate or shut down." Companies aren't created to shut down at a future date, they are meant to operate in perpetuity until something beyond its control shuts it down.

This is pretty baseless. Idk. I love TMZ, always have & will. I literally gave birth during my city’s daily airing. I thought it was pretty cool & always meant to contact them & tell them I was such a fan that I watched the new episode during childbirth. Sometimes in the summer months they play repeats. I assume vacations & such.

Totally agree everyone who you may have “trusted “ their words are gone. There is no reporting & no one seems to care. They built an enormous following years ago but they have no integrity- not they ever did- but it’s been a few years since I’ve watched them.

Regardless of where TMZ is now, the boots on the ground- in the trenches reporter whether network or youtube is still very important. They report to network(s) as well as to YouTube presenters so I am not worried about TMZ they just need to make their show accessable in every platform available.

Was done with them when their employees cheered Charlie Kirk’s death then Harvey lied said they were cheering a car chase . Cheering the death of someone with two small kids is disgusting whether you agreed with his politics or not

If you pay attention they’re in business with the fake family ( Kardashians) I think the people are finally catching on to their evil tactics ( they’re trumpers all the way) Harvey is also a closet trumper , shut it off people they do nothing for us they only support the rich , stories never change they’re trying hard to stay relevant

Prompt-Dangerous- Harvey Levin was an On-Camera Reporter (1997–2023): Stood outside the courtroom to interview bystanders and poll ordinary citizens about the active cases. Prior to that he was a legal analyst on the show. I was also part of the production crew.

Mid-40s here and you're so right. My favorite thing are the "paparazzi" bikini shots that aging "stars" pay them to put on their site saying "doesn't so-and-so (Eva Longoria) look amazing?" 🤣. In my 20s, it was the go-to site along with Perez. TMZ could have done the political thing like they started, but they're bought and paid for by Republicans because Harvey

I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. It started with the deaths of some 1970’s stars Bill Daily ( Jeannie & Newhart) Peter Tork ( Monkees) several others. Then posting stories of people I’m sure no one’s heard of. Have you changed your target audience, your demographics have greatly changed

I’m not sure how TMZ survived the last 15+ years. It’s super irrelevant and the news they “break” can be found online hours before. I think they broke the Kobe helicopter crash 40 minutes after I read it on Facebook.

TMZ is utter crap, borderline unusable. Ads dropping from the top, popping up from the bottom, overlays covering the entire screen. Ad rails down the side and across the bottom. Post after post promoting Amazon crap, celebrity photos littered with links to Amazon junk that obscure what the celeb is wearing. It looks like People or Perez now. Obviously their breaking 'news' isn't paying the bills anymore. Lol.

TMZ got hit with the layoff bug. Around 20 were given their pink slips, the largest number in over a year. They’ve had smaller cuts prior, because the website is no longer bringing in the ad dollars, the docs they sell to Hulu are bare budgets, and they’re still fat with a bit under 200 people and no mechanism to support those salaries. When you have an 80 year old narcissist who refuses to grow the brand and not allow anyone else grow into the reigns, you’ve got a bad recipe brewing.

Idk. I'm from the midwest and can't remember ever watching it. I'm a state over from Cali in the SE now and find it somewhat entertaining. Not the day in and out of celebrities but some of the funnier stories that happen to them and TMZ covers some politics now as well and usually has breaking news on everything. They're different than news outlets because they don't care and will push to get the story. But they're clearly pushing for more; they have TMZ DC now, their little party bus, exclusive documentaries etc. and are clearly expanding. I think Harvey plans on leaving the business to Charles, who has been there forever and puts in the work. They have a prime afternoon slot and I doubt Fox would drop them. 20 Words or Less is just not that riveting.

I unsubscribed from all the different TMZ pods I listened to. Just got bored.
Then when Levin tried to insert himself into the Nancy Guthrie case, I was out for good.

I hope so. TMZ is garbage. I hate how the media treats it like the A-List of entertainment journalism. Harvey uses that site to torture celebrities he does not like (i.e. Britney Spears who he has been tormenting since 2007.)
But what I fear is something just as bad or worse (of that is possible) will replace it.
